A Study on the Role of Social Robot in Aspect of User Experiences -Focus on Single-person Households- (사용자 경험 측면에서 소셜로봇의 역할에 관한 고찰 -1인 가구 생활을 중심으로-)

  • The study evaluates exploration of social robot's role which can emotionally communicate with human as an alternative to heal psychological isolation for single-person households. At first, I conduct a study on literatured to understand the definition and characteristics of social robot then analyze the current situation and future prospects. Based on this, I organized the requirements of social robot in aspect of user experience through in-depth interview of twenties single-person households living in the metropolitan area who could be potential customers. As a result every subject require social robot specialized to them through accumulated interaction. On the other hand, degree of attachment with social robot is different from subjects. Hear by I realize every subject require social robot to different and various functions according to their lifestyle and personality. Therefore I could draw conclusions and implications from this study that technical development in aspect of personalized user experience is necessary for social robot to settle in to human's life in the future.

  • This thesis attempted to examine the mechanization of humans, humanization of machines, and coexistence through dance works. The dance works were reviewed by partial excerpts from Oscar Schlemer's <3 Chord Ballet>, Felindrome Dance Company's , and . Also, I looked at the dance work , which has an inherent form of coexistence. Through the above work, robot-like science and technology and fusion. It was found that various dance performances that coexist in complex forms provide continuous creativity to humans, and various forms of sensibility and creative movements based on data make it possible to produce rich performances for humans. This researcher expects numerous works that accept and reflect the changes of the times through the embodied interaction of dance performances with science and technology.

A Study of User Experience Based on Feedback Positioning of Home Robots and Approach-Avoidance Behaviors: Focused on the Context of Tasks (가정용 로봇의 피드백 움직임과 접근-회피 행동에 따른 사용자 경험 연구: 작업 수행 상황을 중심으로)

  • Due to pandemic situations, the development of home robots that can make the house an optimized space for various activities is active. This study aims to confirm the effectiveness of approach or avoidance behavior for feedback positioning on the user experience, depending on the context in which the robot performs the task. Based on two types of the task contexts(Reactive vs. Proactive) and three types of robot feedback positioning(No move vs. Avoidance vs. Approach), six different scenarios were designed for experimental study. Likeability, perceived intelligence, rapport, negative attitude and predictability of behavior are measured for each conditions. The result showed the main effects of perceived intelligence, rapport, predictability in the context of tasks, and of likability, perceived intelligence, rapport in robot feedback positioning. The interaction effects were shown in likeability and perceived intelligence. In conclusion, approach-avoidance experiences can also be applied to robot behaviors as well, and the negative effects of avoidance have been significantly confirmed.

  • 본 시스템은 세 단계의 모델을 복합적으로 구성하여 이루어진다. 첫 단계로 사람의 음성언어를 텍스트로 전환한 후 사용자의 발화 의도를 분류해내는 BoW방식을 이용해 인간의 명령을 이해할 수 있는 자연어 처리 알고리즘을 구성한다. 이후 YOLOv3-tiny를 이용한 실시간 영상처리모델과 OctoMapping모델을 활용하여 주변환경에 대한 3차원 지도생성 후 지도데이터를 기반으로하여 동작하는 기구제어 알고리즘 등을 ROS actionlib을 이용한 관리자시스템을 구성하여 ROS와 딥러닝을 활용한 편리한 인간-로봇 상호작용 시스템을 제안한다.

A Study on Improvement of the Human Posture Estimation Method for Performing Robots (공연로봇을 위한 인간자세 추정방법 개선에 관한 연구)

  • One of the basic tasks for robots to interact with humans is to quickly and accurately grasp human behavior. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the accuracy of human pose recognition when the robot is estimating the human pose and to recognize it as quickly as possible. However, when the human pose is estimated using deep learning, which is a representative method of artificial intelligence technology, recognition accuracy and speed are not satisfied at the same time. Therefore, it is common to select one of a top-down method that has high inference accuracy or a bottom-up method that has high processing speed. In this paper, we propose two methods that complement the disadvantages while including both the advantages of the two methods mentioned above. The first is to perform parallel inference on the server using multi GPU, and the second is to mix bottom-up and One-class Classification. As a result of the experiment, both of the methods presented in this paper showed improvement in speed. If these two methods are applied to the entertainment robot, it is expected that a highly reliable interaction with the audience can be performed.

The Effects of Robot's Persuasive Intention and it's Physical Distance with Consumers on Consumers' Evaluation on the Robot and Product Purchase Intention (로봇의 설득의도와 소비자와의 물리적 거리가 소비자의 로봇에 대한 평가와 제품의 구매의도에 미치는 영향)

  • The current study explored how robot's persuasive intent and its' physical distance affect consumers' evaluaton on the robot and the product that the robot advertises. This study administered a 2 (level of pursasion intent: low vs. high) × 2 (physical distance: normal vs. close) between-subjects factorial design experiment. The findings revealed that consumers evaluated the robot' expertise and trustworthiness more negatively and reported lower intentions to buy the produce when they perceived robot's persasive intent saliently high. Consumers were also found to show more negative attitude toward the robot and lower intentions to buy the produce when the robot approached to their personal space more closely. The theoretical and practical implications about human-robot interaction in marketing context were discussed.

  • A human-friendly interactive system, based on the harmonious symbiotic coexistence of humans and robots, is explored. Based on this interactive technology paradigm, a robotic cane is designed to help blind or visually impaired travelers to navigate safely and quickly among obstacles and other hazards faced by blind pedestrians. We outline a set of the hardware solutions and working methodologies that can be used for successfully implementing and extending the interactive technology to complex environments, robots, and humans. The issues discussed include the interaction of human and robot, design issue of robotic cane, hardware requirements for efficient human-robot interaction.

Different Look, Different Feel: Social Robot Design Evaluation Model Based on ABOT Attributes and Consumer Emotions (각인각색, 각봇각색: ABOT 속성과 소비자 감성 기반 소셜로봇 디자인평가 모형 개발)

  • Tosolve complex and diverse social problems and ensure the quality of life of individuals, social robots that can interact with humans are attracting attention. In the past, robots were recognized as beings that provide labor force as they put into industrial sites on behalf of humans. However, the concept of today's robot has been extended to social robots that coexist with humans and enable social interaction with the advent of Smart technology, which is considered an important driver in most industries. Specifically, there are service robots that respond to customers, the robots that have the purpose of edutainment, and the emotionalrobots that can interact with humans intimately. However, popularization of robots is not felt despite the current information environment in the modern ICT service environment and the 4th industrial revolution. Considering social interaction with users which is an important function of social robots, not only the technology of the robots but also other factors should be considered. The design elements of the robot are more important than other factors tomake consumers purchase essentially a social robot. In fact, existing studies on social robots are at the level of proposing "robot development methodology" or testing the effects provided by social robots to users in pieces. On the other hand, consumer emotions felt from the robot's appearance has an important influence in the process of forming user's perception, reasoning, evaluation and expectation. Furthermore, it can affect attitude toward robots and good feeling and performance reasoning, etc. Therefore, this study aims to verify the effect of appearance of social robot and consumer emotions on consumer's attitude toward social robot. At this time, a social robot design evaluation model is constructed by combining heterogeneous data from different sources. Specifically, the three quantitative indicator data for the appearance of social robots from the ABOT Database is included in the model. The consumer emotions of social robot design has been collected through (1) the existing design evaluation literature and (2) online buzzsuch as product reviews and blogs, (3) qualitative interviews for social robot design. Later, we collected the score of consumer emotions and attitudes toward various social robots through a large-scale consumer survey. First, we have derived the six major dimensions of consumer emotions for 23 pieces of detailed emotions through dimension reduction methodology. Then, statistical analysis was performed to verify the effect of derived consumer emotionson attitude toward social robots. Finally, the moderated regression analysis was performed to verify the effect of quantitatively collected indicators of social robot appearance on the relationship between consumer emotions and attitudes toward social robots. Interestingly, several significant moderation effects were identified, these effects are visualized with two-way interaction effect to interpret them from multidisciplinary perspectives. This study has theoretical contributions from the perspective of empirically verifying all stages from technical properties to consumer's emotion and attitudes toward social robots by linking the data from heterogeneous sources. It has practical significance that the result helps to develop the design guidelines based on consumer emotions in the design stage of social robot development.

Developing an Evaluation System for Certifying the Robot-Friendliness of Buildings through Focus Group Interviews and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (로봇 친화형 건축물 인증 지표 개발 : 초점집단면접(FGI)과 분석적 계층화 과정(AHP)의 활용)

  • With rapid advancements taking place in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, human-robot interactions have been garnering increasing attention. Robots are being actively adopted in building systems and facilities. In this study, we developed robot-friendly building certification indicators. Because these indicators were being developed for the first time, we focused only on commercial buildings. We conducted exploratory research using methodologies such as focus group interviews and the analytic hierarchy process. First, the concept of the robot-friendly building was defined through focus group interviews, and the requirements were categorized by the appropriateness of operating facilities and systems and the appropriateness of architectural and robot operating systems and networks. Next, the relative importance of the evaluation items (23 items in total) was calculated using the analytic hierarchy process. Their average score of the marks was 4.4, and the minimum and maximum were 2.0 and 11.3, respectively. This study is significant because we collected the basic data necessary to develop a one-of-its-kind evaluation system for certifying the robot-friendliness of buildings using scientific methods.
