  • Leakage vortices fonned near the blade tip cause an increase of total pressure loss near the casing endwall region and as a result, the efficiency of rotor decreases. The reduction of rotor efficiency is related to the size of tip clearance. In this study, the three-dimensional flow fields in an axial flow rotor were calculated with varying tip clearance under various flow rates, and the numerical results were compared with experimental ones. The effects of tip clearance and the of attack on the leakage vortex and overall performance, and the los9 distributions were investigated through numerical calculations. In this study, tip leakage flow rate and total pressure loss due to the tip clearance were evaluated using numerical results and approximate equations were presented to evaluate the reduction of rotor efficiency due to the tip leakage flow.

Efficient generation of concentric mosaics using image-strip mosaicking (스트립 영상 배치를 이용한 동심원 모자익의 효율적인 생성)

  • In general, image-based virtual environment is represented by panoramic images created by image mosaic algorithm. The cylindrical panoramic image supports the fixed-viewpoint navigation due to the constraints of construction. Shum proposed concentric mosaics to allow users to navigate freely within a circular area[10]. It is constructed by a sequence of images which is acquired from a regularly rotating camera. Concentric mosaics technique, proposed by Shum, is considered as 3D plenoptic function which is defined three parameters : distance, height and angle. In this paper, we suggest an effective method for creating concentric mosaics, in which we first align a set of strip images on the cylinder plane and stitch the aligned strips to build a panoramic image. The proposed method has no constraints such as regular panning motion of camera. Furthermore, our proposed method minimizes the use of interpolation image to create a novel view images from the concentric mosaics. It allows the result image on a novel view to have better quality with respect to the number of input images.

  • These days, inexpensive and high efficiency UAV of disaster prevention and spatial information has been given more attention. But studies about test of accuracy of UAV were not enough despite high interest. This research produced DSM and ortho photo and estimated accuracy by comparing coordinates with GNSS survey to evaluate outcome of fixed wing UAV. The ortho photo was found to make use of it to update 1/1,000 map. This research investigated spatial information construction using existing terrestrial LiDAR to suggest effectiveness of fixed wing UAV.

  • Under the assumption of potential flow, free-surface flow around a hydrofoil is calculated by the high-order spectra1!boundary-integral method, This method is one of the most efficient numerical methods by which the nonlinear interactions between hydrofoil and free-surface can be simulated in time-domain. In this method. the wave potential which represents the nonlinear evolution of free-surface is solved by the high-order spectral method and the body potential which provides the effects of hydrofoil and shed vortex is solved by the boundary-integral method. The calculated free-surface profiles which are generated by a uniformly translating hydrofoil are compared with other experimental results. And they show relatively good agreements each other. As another example, free-surface flow generated by a heaving and translating hydrofoil is calculated and discussed.

  • A design study was conducted for a new concept aircraft(Canard Rotor/Wing: CRW) that has the capability of dual mode flight, a rotorcraft and a fixed wing mode. The CRW can show a vertical take off/landing and a high speed/efficiency cruise performance simultaneously. It is not surprising to develop a new sizing code for this class of aircraft because conventional sizing codes developed solely for either the rotary wing or the fixed wing aircraft are not adequate to design a dual mode aircraft operated both by the rotary wing through tip jet effux and the fixed wing lift. Thus, a new design code was developed based on the conventional sizing code by adding some features including rotor performance, duct flow, and engine flow analysis, hence could eventually predict the performance of reaction driven rotor, the flight performance and the flight characteristics. The various design parameters were investigated to find their influences on the flight performance then, a small UAV(Unmanned Aircraft Vehicle) of 1500 lbs class was optimally designed to have minimum weight using the developed sizing code.

Multispectral Mural Underdrawing Mosaic Technique (다중스펙트럼 기반 벽화 밑그림 영상 모자익 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a new accurate and robust image mosaic technique of the mural underdrawing taken from the infra-red camera, which is based on multiple image registration and adaptive blending technique. The image mosaicing methods which have been developed so far have the following deficits. It is hard to generate a high resolution image when there are regions that do not have features or intensity gradients, and there is a trade-off in overlapping region size in view of registration and blending. We consider these issues as follows. First, in order to mosaic images with neither noticeable features nor intensity gradients, we use a projected supplementary pattern and pseudo color image for features in the image pieces which are registered. Second, we search the overlapping region size with minimum blending error between two adjacent images and then apply blending technique to minimum error overlapping region. Finally, we could find our proposed method is more effective and efficient for image mosaicing than conventional mosaic techniques and also is more adequate for the application of infra-red mural underdrawing mosaicing. Experimental results show the accuracy and robustness of the algorithm
