  • The existing anonymous authentication schemes based on group signatures for protecting privacy do not provide anonymous authorization which is required in the practical environments. In this paper, we propose an anonymous authentication and authorization scheme that enables a service provider both to authenticate anonymously its users and to provide different service according to their authorization. In the proposed scheme, a user's real identity, anonymity and authorization are managed distinctly through the separation of group manager's capabilities and an authorization authority. It is also possible for the proposed scheme to apply various access control models.

  • There's a controversy about an invasion of privacy which includes a leakage of private information and linking of user's behavior on internet. Although many solutions for this problem are proposed, we think anonymous authentication, authorization, and payment mechanism is the best solution for this problem. In this paper, we propose an effective anonymity-based method that achieves not only authentication but also authorization. Our proposed method uses anonymous qualification certificate and group signature method as an underlying primitive, and combines anonymous authentication and qualification information. An eligible user is legitimately issued a group member key pair through key issuing process and issued some qualification certificates anonymously, and then, he can take the safe and convenience web service which supplies anonymous authentication and authorization. The qualification certificate can be expanded according to application environment and it can be used as payment token.

  • Wireless Body Area Networks is an environment that provides an appropriate service remotely by collecting user's biometric information. With the growing importance of sensor, WBAN also attracts extensive attention. Since WBAN is representatively used in the medical field, it can be directly related to the patient's life. Hence security is very important in WBAN. Mutual authentication between the client and the application provider is essential. And efficiency is also important because a used device is limited to computation cost. In this reason, ID-based anonymous authentication scheme in WBAN has been intensively studied. We show that the recent research result of Wu et al. which is about the ID-based anonymous authentication scheme is vulnerable to impersonation attack. And we propose a new ID-based anonymous authentication scheme that is secure against the attacks discovered in the existing schemes. Compared to the existing schemes, the computation cost of our scheme is improved by 30.6% and 7.3%.

  • As information communication technologies have highly advanced, a large amount of user sensitive information can be easily collected and unexpectedly distributed. For user-friendly services, a service provider requires and processes more user information. However known privacy protection models take on a passive attitude toward user information protection and often involve serious weaknesses. In reality, information exposure by unauthorised access and mistakenly disclosure occurs frequently. In this paper, we study on the applicability of anonymous authentication services for fine-grained user privacy protection. We analyze authentication schemes and classify them according to the level of privacy newly defined in this paper. In addition, we identify security requirements that a privacy protection scheme based on anonymous authentication can achieve within legal boundary.

  • Regarding the official authentication method which is a strong encrypt method for financial transactions, there has recently been a concern for the problem of storage. As a solution for such problems, this study provides the anonymous authentication method based on the smart card used for such a purpose by utilizing the pseudo ID replacing the user's personal data. Such an anonymous authentication method makes it possible to prevent any inside leakage, intermediary attack, limited re-transmission attack, service-denying attack, directional safety attack and secret inspector attack in regard to the user's personal data. As a result, there would be no concern for the leakage of any personal data. In comparative analysis, after executing the comparison and analysis process through the experiment for the authentication process by using the previously-used smart card, the new one has shown about 10% a high level of efficiency for the encrypt and decrypt process together with excellent features in terms of flexibility in regard to the user's anonymity and tracking ability.

  • With the advancement of wearable devices and wireless body are networks, smart healthcare systems based on such technologies have been emerging to effectively monitor patient health and disease progression. In order to implement viable smart healthcare systems, the security and privacy of patient's personal health information must be considered. Yang et al. proposed a privacy-preserving authentication scheme using key-insulation technique for remote health monitoring system, however, key-insulation technique is not properly adapted to their scheme which in turn causes a security pitfall contrary to their assertions. Besides, Yang et al.'s scheme does not guarantee user anonymity against healthcare service provider. Therefore, in this paper, we discuss the security concerns for Yang et al.'s scheme and present an improved anonymous authentication scheme.

  • Messages exchanged among vehicles must be authenticated in order to provide collision avoidance and cooperative driving services in VANET. However, digitally signing the messages can violate the privacy of users. Therefore, we require authentication systems that can provide conditional anonymity. Recently, Zhang et al. proposed conditionally anonymous authentication system for VANET using tamper-resistant hardware. In their system, vehicles can generate identity-based public keys by themselves and use them to sign messages. Moreover, they use batch verification to effectively verify signed messages. In this paper, we provide amelioration to Zhang et al.'s system in the following respects. First, we use a more efficient probabilistic signature scheme. Second, unlike Zhang et al., we use a security proven batch verification scheme. We also provide effective solutions for key revocation and anonymity revocation problems.
