Objective: The purpose of this study is to inspect recovery state of patients suffering from nausea and vomiting, who received auricular acupuncture. On the other hand, we are going to examine effects of auricular acupuncture through the study of treatises on nausea and vomiting. Nausea and vomiting are ordinary symptoms of dispositional or functional disease. The symptoms often appear without obvious disorders that can be detected on various inspection. Methods: Auricular acupuncture needling was given to the patients who had reported the symptoms of nausea and vomiting. They were hospitalized at the korean oriental internal medicine of National Medical Center from Dec. 2002 to Aug. 2003. Result: Relatively quick response of treatment was acquired after auricular acupuncture on nausea and vomiting. Conclusion: This study shows that auricular acupuncture is effective in reducing nausea and vomiting without regard to causal disease.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to examine the clinical effect of Auricular Acupuncture therapy on ankle sprain Methods : This study was carried out on the 48 patients who had been treated at chonan oriental hospital from December 1st, 2003 to April 30th, 2004. 48 patients had a diagnosis of ankle sprain by x-ray or physical test. we treated 48 patients by Auricular Acupuncture therapy. Results and Conclusions 1. We operated Auricular Acupuncture on the foot point(발점), the ankle point(발목점), the heel point(발뒤꿈치점), the zero point(제로점)and the thalamus point(시상점). 2. The efficacy of Auricular Acupuncture therapy was 75% when we set a standard thing more than good(良好) 3. The Auricular Acupuncture therapy is effective of ankle sprain patients, but we thought that it needed to prove effect of Auricular Acupuncture therapy for efficient application by more clinical researches.

Clinical studies were done 23 peoples who were treated with the auricular acupuncture therapy to the hypertension in the Dept. of the Acupuncture and Moxibution Hospital of Oriental Medicine in Won Kwang University. The following results have obtained. 1. Distribution of sex: male (52.0%), female (48.0%), 2. Distribution of age: 50s age group (30.0%), 70s(26.0%), 40s or 60s(22.0%). 3. Distribution of occupation: housewife (26.0%), farmer or commerce(22.0%), unemployed(13.0%), 4. Causes of illness: unknown origin(61.0%), stress(17.0%), drinking (13.0%), 5. Distribution according to symptom: headache(57.0%), non-symptom(17.0%), dizziness(9.0%). 6. Duration of onset: 3-5 years(26,0%), unknown(17.0%), 6 months, 5-10 years or 10 years (13.0%). 7. Cure rate of auricular acupuncture treatment according to differentiation symptoms: HLY(43.0%), DLK(30.0%), DYY(13.0%), HYD(9.0%). 8. Result grade on $pr{\`{e}}-freatment$ of auricular acupuncture: Grade I(4.0%), GradeII(52.0%), Grade III(43.0%). Result grade on post-treaftment auricular acupuncture: Grade O(48.0%), Grade I(26.0%), Grade II(26.0%).

Backgrounds and Purpose: Hypertension is a common origin for stroke, heart disease, etc. Clinical management is needed to prevent these diseases. It has been said that auricular acupuncture treatment can be used for the control of hypertension. In this study, we studied the effects of auricular acupuncture on mild hypertension. Materials and Methods: Clinical study was performed on 22 stroke patients who didn't take the antihypertensive drugs. They were admitted in Kyunghee University, Hospital of Oriental Medicine. We checked patients' 24-hour blood pressure by Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor and did auricular acupuncture treatment for one day and rechecked blood pressure for 24-hours. We compared the blood pressure between, before, and after auricular acupuncture treatment by Wilcoxon test. The acupuncture points were KOHYOLABJUM, NAEBUNBI, SHINMUN, SHIM, KANGABJUM. They were all on the auricular. Results: After auricular acupuncture treatment, systolic and diastolic hypertension decreased significantly(p<0.05), but heart rates didn't change significantly. Conclusions: These results suggest that Auricular acupuncture treatment may be used for antihypertensive purpose. About the efficacy and safety, further study is needed.

The aim of this review was to determine the status of acupuncture therapies in reducing obesity in obese patients and to determine the scheme and effectiveness of acupuncture therapies. Existing reports published between January 1, 2003 and December 31, 2017 in Kiss, Riss, National Assembly Library, Pubmed and CINAHL databases were searched electronically with the keywords obesity, acupuncture, auricular acupuncture, and electroacupuncture. After checking the original sources of the articles, 19 articles were included in the review. In a qualitative evaluation of the papers using a checklist from the Scottish Intercollegiate Guideline Network, one study scored 9 out of 10 points, 15 studies scored 7-8 out of 10 points, two studies scored 6 out of 10 points, and one study scored 3 out of 10 points. In the acupuncture therapy schemes, acupoints to reduce obesity included shemen, hunger, LI-11 (Quchi), LI-4 (Hegu), St-25 (Tianshu) and St-44 (Neiting). Acupuncture therapies were conducted for an average of 16.9 total sessions. In the studies that involved 20-day or 72-day duration for acupuncture therapies, the frequency of acupuncture therapies was 1 time/1-2 days. In the studies that involved 4- to 18-week duration for acupuncture therapies, the frequency of acupuncture therapies was 1-3 times/week. This study found acupuncture therapies were effective in reducing obesity, and acupuncture therapies reduced anthropometry, blood glucose and lipids and changed blood hormones. In the future, there is an urgent need for well-planned studies of the effectiveness of acupuncture therapies for reducing obesity in obese patients.

Objective The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of obesity management program with herbal medication(Changbudodamtanggamibang) on an obese female patient with oligomenorrhea resulted from polycystic ovary syndrome. Methods I applied herbal medication(Changbudodamtanggamibang), acupuncture, auricular acupuncture, electrolipolysis, low calorie diet, aerobic exercise, behavioral modification therapy and fumigation therapy to her. Results Her weight decreased from 64.3kg to 54.0kg, BMI from $26.4kg/m^2$ to $22.2kg/m^2$, PBF from 38.9% to 29.6%, and WHR from 0.89 to 0.82. Menstrual period was normalized from 60days to 34days. ConclusionThese results provides an evidence that obesity management program with herbal medication(Changbudodamtanggamibang) is effective on oligomenorrhea of an obese female patient with polycystic ovary syndrome.

Objective: This study is aimed to compare the change of clinical comfort and improvement after auricular acupuncture theraphy and auricular acupuncture theraphy with common acupuncture theraphy(Shinmun HT7) on insomnia in stroke patients. Methods : Clinical study was carried out on 40 stroke patients who was traeted insomnia by auricular acupuncture theraphy and auricular acupuncture theraphy with common acupuncture theraphy(Shinmun HT7) at Kwang-Dong Oriental Medical Hospital. Results: 1. Total sleeping time was increased in auricular acupuncture theraphy and auricular acupuncture theraphy with common acupuncture theraphy(Shinmun HT7). 2. Average delaying time before sleep and Average Awake Times was decreased in auricular acupuncture theraphy and auricular acupuncture theraphy with common acupuncture theraphy(Shinmun HT7). 3. Quality of sleep was improved in auricular acupuncture theraphy and auricular acupuncture theraphy with common acupuncture theraphy(Shinmun HT7). 4. Insomnia Score was increased in auricular acupuncture theraphy and auricular acupuncture theraphy with common acupuncture theraphy(Shinmun HT7). Conclusions : According to the results, both auricular acupuncture theraphy and auricular acupuncture theraphy with common acupuncture theraphy(Shinmun HT7) were effective on insomnia in stroke patient. but, auricular acupuncture theraphy was more effective than auricular acupuncture theraphy with common acupuncture theraphy(Shinmun HT7) in total sleeping time and insomnia score.

After performing the auricular acupuncture therapy for the functional headache, we came to gain the following therapy effects. 1. In the whole of the patients of the functional headache, housewives of forties were most of all. 2. In the classification of mordern medicine on the patients of the functional headache, muscular contractional headache was most of all and in the classification of oriental differentiation of symtoms and signs(辨證), headache due to deficiency of blood(血虛頭痛) was most of all. 3. In the regional auricular acupuncture therapy for the functonal headache, Taiyang of auricular point(太陽點) had an effect on the lateral headache around the area of Taiyang of auricular point(太陽點) though the actions of sedation, analgesia, Neck of auricular point(頸點) had an effect on the muscular contractional headache of the occipital region, and Stomach of auricular point(胃點) had an effect on the headache of stagnation of phlegm(痰濁頭痛) of anterior region with a chronic digestive disease. 4. The average treatment times of the auricular acupuncture therapy in the patients of the functional headache was 4.08 times, if we have them take auricular acupuncture therapy about 4 times it could be thought to take excellent effect of treatment. 5. The effect of auricular acupuncture therapy for functional headache was turned out to be effective in the following orders ; lateral region(Group A), occipital region(Group B), anterior region(group C). Through the clinical consequences of therapy mentioned above, we came to confirm regular therapeuric effects and hereafter, it is considered that a clinical comparative study on oriental cure and auricular acupuncture therapy for headache has to be more progressed than now.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Auricular acupressure with semen sinapis in obese children over a specific period of time. Methods : The study subjects included 27 obese children who were evaluated as such using Broca's Index at an elementary school located in M city. The data was collected throughout March 2, to May 31, 2005. In order to collect data, as a pre-test, characteristics of obesity and general characteristics were examined. Experimental treatments were used on Shinmun, Kijeom, Wijeom, Bijeom and Naebunbijeom. Among the auricular spots, one pill of semen sinapis was placed and pressed for five seconds at a time with exerted force and the subjects endured pain. This procedure was conducted ten tunes every morning, noon and evening for a period of six weeks. As a post-test, the degree of obesity were examined two weeks, four weeks and six weeks after acupressure had been applied. The data was collected and analysed using the SPSS/WIN 10.0 program by number, percentage, mean standard deviation, and Repeated Measure ANOVA. Result : The first hypothesis that 'The obesity of the children who had auricular acupressure with semen sinapis will show no difference over time' (two weeks, four weeks and six weeks after acupressure had been applied) was rejected(p=.000). A statistically significant difference in the obesity of the children who had auricular acupressure with semen sinapis was shown over time. The children's obesity degree reduced from 35.85% before auricular acupressure with semen sinapis to 28.67% six weeks after acupressure. Thus after six weeks of acupressure the relative degrees of obesity were reduced by 7.18%. Conclusion : Bases on the above results, it can be determined that auricular acupressure with semen sinapis can be used as an effective method of treatment in Korea, for reducing degrees of obesity in children.

In this paper, measure of change the speech analysis parameter by stimulating ears blood points corresponding to cardiac. To do this, we collected voice of before and after a stimulation corresponding points to ears to select normal heart having 10 subjects. We analyzed changes before and after corresponding points to ear in cardiac to apply Jitter, the second zFormant Frequency Bandwidths related to heart of elements of voice analysis. As a result of us experiment, we were able to analyze correlation of voice with cardiac according to corresponding points to ears decreased values of Jitter, the Second Formant Frequency Bandwidths of 90% of subjects. Finally, the effectiveness of proposed method is demonstrated by several experiments.
