  • In applying high-${\underline{T_c}}$ superconducting material to microwave devices, Uncertainty of electromagnetics of high-${\underline{T_c}}$ superconductor(HTS) and the temperature dependence of the substrate fits with HTS thin film cause difficulty in realization of such antenna for industrial applications. It must be noted to characteristic the HTS antenna in contrast with normal conducting counterpart for this real application. In this paper, a comparative study between HTS microstrip antennas and gold antennas was reported in terms of the return loss, the characteristic impedance, efficiency, and other various characteristics. HTS thin films were $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ (YBCO) on MgO substrates. Superconducting microstrip antennas used in this work were to directly inset a microstrip transmission line into the 50 ${\Omega}$ region of the radiating patch. Measurement results of HTS antennas and gold antennas showed that usable antennas can be made using this architecture.

  • The high-$T_c$ Superconducting (HTS) antenna which consists of "H" type resonator has the benefits for the miniaturization of antenna in comparison with the microstrip antenna of the similar dimension. To fabricate the "H" type antenna, HTS $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ (YBCO) thin films were deposited on MgO substrates using rf-magnetron sputtering. Standard etching processes were performed for the patterning of the "H" type antenna. For comparison between normal conducting antennas and superconducting antennas, the gold antennas with the same dimension were also fabricated. An aperture coupling was used for impedance matching between $50{\Omega}$ feed line and HTS radiating patch. The diverse experimental results were reported in terms of the resonant frequency, the return loss and the characteristics impedance. The "H" type superconducting antenna showed the performance of 1.36 in SWR, 24% in efficiency, and 14.6 dB in the return loss superior of the normal conducting counterpart.

Carbon Nanotube-based Nanohybrid Materials as Counter Electrode for Highly Efficient Dye-sensitized Solar Cells (고효율 염료감응형 태양전지를 위한 탄소나노튜브 기반 나노 하이브리드 상대전극)

  • In this study, we present an excellent approach for easily and uniformly immobilizing Pt, Au and bimetallic PtAu nanoparticles (NPs) on a multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT)-coated layer through dry plasma reduction. The NPs are stably and uniformly immobilized on the surface of MWNTs and the nanohybrid materials are applied to counter electrode (CE) of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). The electrochemical properties of CEs are examined through cyclic voltammogram, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and Tafel measurements. As a result, both electrochemical catalytic activity and electrical conductivity are highest for PtAu/MWNT electrode. The DSC employing PtAu/MWNT CE exhibits power conversion efficiency of 7.9%. The efficiency is better than those of devices with MWNT (2.6%), AuNP/MWNT (2.7%) and PtNP/MWNT (7.5%) CEs.

A Study on Corrosion according to Distance between Amalgam and Dissimilar Metals (아말감과 이종(異種)금속의 거리에 따른 부식에 대한 고찰)

  • The present study prepared 72 test samples - 24 made of amalgam alloy, 24 of Verabond (Ni-Cr alloy) for crown and 24 of Talladium $^{TM}alloy$ for denture - according to the manufacturers' manuals and general method in consideration of the width of the mesial-distal dental crown of the lower $1^{st}$ molar and MOD cavity in clinics, put them in a 200 ml beaker containing 80 ml of artificial saliva, and measured their galvanic corrosion at distances of 0 mm, 7 mm and 40 mm after 7 days. Isolated metals in the electrolyte such as Cu, Ag, Ni, Cr, Sn, Zn and Hg were quantitatively analyzed with Inductively Coupled Plasma - Atomic Emission Spectrometer (ICP-AES, JY-50P, VG Elemental Co. France), and from the results were drawn conclusions as follows. First, Cu, Sn, Ag, Hg and Zn were highly advantageous when amalgam contacted gold alloy compared to Ni-Cr alloy for crown and Talladium alloy for denture. In addition, although gold alloy was finest in terms of oral tissue and biocompatibility, it was most disadvantageous when it was with amalgam. Second, when amalgam contacted gold alloy, heavy metals such as Ni and Cr were not isolated at all because gold alloy did not contain such elements but Sn was isolated as much as $227.1{\pm}18.0035{\mu}g/cm^2$ although it was not included in the composition either. Hg was also isolated. These elements are assumed to have been isolated from amalgam itself. Third, when amalgam alloy was apart from gold alloy 0 mm, 7 mm and 40 mm, Cu and Ag showed significance but Hg did not. This suggests that gold alloy must not be used together with amalgam, and must not be used between dissimilar prostheses regardless of distance. Fourth, when amalgam alloy contacted Ni-Cr alloy for crown, Ag was not isolated from the amalgam, but Zn, Ni, Sn, Hg and Cu were isolated in order of quantity. Significance was observed according to distance - 0 mm, 7 mm and 40 mm. Hg was not isolated but heavy metals Ni and Cr were isolated. If amalgam alloy was in the opposite arch or it was apart from Ni-Cr alloy for crown, the isolation Hg was less than that when amalgam alloy contacted Ni-Cr alloy for crown. Fifth, when amalgam alloy contacted Talladium alloy for denture, significance was observed at distances of 0mm, 7 mm and 40 mm. Hg was not isolated but heavy metals Ni and Cr were isolated. If amalgam alloy was in the opposite arch or it was apart from Talladium alloy for denture, the isolation Hg was less than that when amalgam alloy contacted Talladium alloy for denture. Sixth, according to the result of ICPES test on Cu, Sn, Ag, Hg, Zn, Ni and Cr of amalgam alloy, gold ally, Verabond and Talladium alloy when these alloys contacted artificial saliva, significance was observed in Cu and Hg. Seventh, when amalgam alloy contracted two non-precious metals Ni-Cr alloy for crown and Talladium alloy for denture in artificial saliva, significance was observed in the isolated by-products of Hg, Ni and Cr according to distance.

Ore Minerals, Fluid Inclusion and Stable Isotope Studies of the Buyeong Gold-silver Deposit, Republic of Korea (부영 금-은광상의 광석광물, 유체포유물 및 안정동위원소 연구)

  • The Buyeong gold-silver deposit consists of quartz veins that fill along the NS fault zone within Cretaceous Goseong formation. Mineralization can be divided into hypogene and supergene stages. Hypogene stage is associated with hydrothermal alteration minerals such as sericite, pyrite, chlorite, epidote and sulfides such as pyrite, pyrrhotite, marcasite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, galena and galenobismutite. Supergene stage is composed of malachite, goethite, chalcocite, and sphalerite oxide. Fluid inclusion data indicate that homogenization temperatures and salinities range from 112 to $340^{\circ}C$ and from 0.2 to 7.9 wt.% NaCl, respectively. Sulfur(3.2~3.9‰) isotope composition indicates that ore sulfur was derived from mainly magmatic source as well as partly host rocks. The calculated oxygen(4.3~6.0‰) and hydrogen(-60~-64‰) isotope compositions indicate that hydrothermal fluids may be meteoric origin with some degree of mixing of another meteoric water for paragenetic time.

  • 드라이브 샤프트는 일반적으로 엔진에서 발생된 회전력을 바퀴에 직접 전달하는 동시에 조향기능을 수행하는 자동차 부품이다. 최근에 경량화를 통한 에너지 절감을 위하여 기존 스틸소재를 알루미늄으로 대체하는 방안에 대한 연구가 집중되고 있다. 그러나 알루미늄 단일소재로 드라이브 샤프트를 제조하는 것은 비경제적이며 또한 기 개발된 자동차 부품들과의 연결을 고려하여 알루미늄 튜브와 스틸 요크의 이종금속 접합기술이 요구된다. 전자기 펄스용접은 전자기력을 이용하여 용접대상물을 고속으로 충돌시켜 용접하는 기술로서 열 발생이 적어 재료의 특성차로 인한 결함 및 변형이 발생하지 않아, 이종금속간 고품질 용접이 가능하며, 전자기 펄스 용접부의 품질과 밀접한 관계를 갖는 공정변수 경우 모재와 접합재의 재질 따라 적정 공정변수 범위가 변화되므로 공정에 따른 데이터의 축적은 대단히 중요하다. 전자기 펄스 용접을 이용한 이종금속 접합시 접합부 품질에 영향을 미치는 공정변수는 충전전압, 모재와 접합재 사이의 간격 및 접합재의 직경과 두께의 비(D/T비)로서 보고되었으며, Al/Steel 이종 금속 접합시 이들 공정변수가 접합부에 미치는 영향 및 최적의 공정변수 도출을 위한 연구는 시도되지 않았다. 따라서 본 연구는 전자기 펄스 용접기술을 이용한 Al/Steel 이종금속 접합 실험을 통하여 전자기 펄스용접의 적정성과 최적의 충전전압, 모재와 접합재 사이의 간격, D/T비를 도출하고자 한다. 전자기 펄스 용접 장치는 한국생산기술연구원과 웰메이트(주)에서 공동으로 개발한 $120{\mu}F$의 캐패시터 6개로 구성된 'W-MPW36'을 사용하였으며 이 장치의 최대충전전압과 최대접합용량은 각각 10kV, 36kJ이다. 접합재는 전기 전도율의 높은 Al 1070 파이프를 사용하였으며 모재는 기존 스틸 요크재인 SM45C 환봉을 사용하였다. 기보고된 연구를 통하여 코일과 접합재 사이의 간격이 좁을수록 높은 전자기력이 접합재에 작용하는 것을 확인하였으나 코일내 접합재와 모재 삽입 편의를 위하여 1mm로 설정하였다. 접합부의 품질 평가를 위하여 수압시험을 실시하였으며, 시험 후 접합부 단면을 주사전자현미경(SEM)을 이용하여 관찰하였다.

Reliability Assessment of Normally-off p-AlGaN-gate GaN HEMTs with Gate-bias Stress (상시불통형 p-AlGaN-게이트 질화갈륨 이종접합 트랜지스터의 게이트 전압 열화 시험)

  • In this work, we performed reverse- and forward-gate bias stress tests on normally-off AlGaN/GaN high electron mobility transistors(HEMTs) with p-AlGaN-gate for reliability assessment. Inverse piezoelectric effect, commonly observed in Schottky-gate AlGaN/GaN HEMTs during reverse bias stress, was not observed in p-AlGaN-gate AlGaN/GaN HEMTs. Forward gate bias stress tests revealed distinct degradation of p-AlGaN-gate devices exhibiting sudden increase of gate leakage current. We suggest that forward gate bias stress tests should be performed to define the failure criteria and assess the reliability of normally off p-AlGaN-gate GaN HEMTs.

  • 전자 패키징은 미세화, 경량화, 저가화를 지향하고 신뢰성의 향상을 위해 발전해 왔다. 이러한 경향은 전자부품 자체의 성능 향상 뿐 아니라 전자부품을 장착, 고정할 수 있게 하는 인쇄회로 기판(PCB : Printed Circuit Board)의 성능에 많은 관심을 가지게 되었다. 전기적 신호의 손실을 줄이기 위해 전기, 전자 산업체에서는 가볍고 굴곡성이 우수한 연성인쇄회로기판(FPCB : Flexible PCB)과 가격이 싸고 신뢰성이 입증된 경성인쇄회로기판(RPCB : Rigid PCB)이 그 대상이다. 본 논문에서는 이 PCB중에서도 RPCB와 FPCB간의 열압착 방식으로 접합 시 전극간의 접합 양상을 보았다. 이 열압착 방식은 기존에 PCB를 접합하는데 사용하고 있는 connector를 이용한 체결법을 대체하는 기술로써 솔더를 중간층(interlayer)로 이용하여 열과 압력으로 접합하는 방식이다. 이 방식을 connector를 사용하는 방식에 비해 그 부피가 작고 I/O개수에 크게 영향 받지 않으며 자동화 공정이 쉬운 장점을 가지고 있다. 접합의 대상 중 RPCB의 경우는 무전해 니켈 금도금(ENIG : Electroless Nickle Immersion Gold)로 제작하였으며 FPCB의 경우는 ENIG와 유기보호피막(OSP : Organic solderability preservation) 처리하였다. 실험에 사용한 PCB는 $300\;{\mu}m$ pitch의 미세피치이며 솔더의 조성은 Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu (in wt%)과 Sn-3.0Ag (in wt%)를 사용하였다. 접합 온도와 접합 시간 그리고 접합 압력에 따라 최적의 접합 조건을 도출하였다. 접합 강도는 $90^{\circ}$ Peel Test를 통해서 측정하였으며 접합면 및 파괴면은 SEM과 EDS를 통하여 분석하였다.

  • This paper describes some major schemes for developing timing signal generator which can be used for testing of 3D radars. The developed generator has a function not only to simulate information on elevation angle for the simulated target signals but also to generate a modulated signal up to 80MHz. Because this generator has an internal modulating function instead of an external modulating function and has sufficient memory enough to change the parameters according to operating programs, it realization of various test-environments for testing a radar can be made with easy and with low expense.
