The Relationship between Earnings Management and Conservatism -Focused on Earnings Loss Avoidance Firms and Big-bath Firms- (이익조정과 보수주의 -적자회피기업과 Big-bath기업을 중심으로-)

  • In this paper, examined relationship between Earnings Management and Conservatism. For analysis of this purpose, we applied the Earnings Loss Avoidance Firms and Big-bath Firms. The results are as follows. First, conservative of Earnings Loss Avoidance Firms(sample I, II) is lower than the controlled companies. And Big-bath firms(sample III, IV) is higher than the controlled companies. This is a negative relationship between conservative and earning management. These results are consistent with previous research results. Second, When analyzing the Earnings Loss Avoidance Firms(sample I, II), Results are presented that conservative and earning management related to positive. These results reflect the company to Investors' demand for conservatism.

  • We examined the level of Earnings Management of Socially Responsible Investment(SRI) Corporate by using Book-Tax Difference(BTD). We used 2,718 sample data from 2011 to 2016 on Korea Stock Exchange. In short, the result of this study's is as followed. Socially Responsible Investment(SRI) have a negative relevance with Book-Tax Difference(BTD). Therefore this study can support that a firm has a high level of Socially Responsible Investment(SRI) will have the better the Quality of Accounting according to our study. This study contributes as follow. we can confirm that the more Socially Responsible Investment(SRI) the better Quality of Accounting Information. And we hope that our study can be helped development of sound capital market and give a useful information to investors on firms that has a high level of Socially Responsible Investment(SRI).

The Matching Principle, Discretionary Accrual and Cost of Capital (수익비용대응, 재량적 발생액 및 자기자본비용)

  • This study first examines whether the high matching principle reduces the cost of equity, and then examines the effect on discretionary accruals and capital cost. According to previous studies, the higher the response to revenue cost, the higher the earnings quality. The higher the quality of earnings, the lower the information risk, and the lower the information risk, the lower the capital cost of enterprise. Discretionary accruals can play two roles in opposing each other. One is that managers use the discretionary accruals to provide private information about the future of the corporation to the market, thus enhancing the usefulness of the earnings. The other is that managers can use the discretionary accruals opportunistically to distort earnings and provide misinformed information to investors, thus reducing the usefulness of earnings. The results of this study represents that the higher the responding to the revenue cost, the less the cost of equity. In the case of firms with high revenue response, we examine whether discretionary accruals reduce the cost of equity capital. As a result of the study, the higher the responding to the revenue cost, the lower the cost of equity capital. Companies with higher matching principle have been shown to reduce their capital costs by using discretionary accruals.

  • Capitalism of altitude in modern society has brought a brilliant development of human civilization. But there is a side effect of capitalism. It is just such as alienation of labor, polarization. The need to consider the worker's equal rights to share profits of private companies in the first Korean Constitution of 1948 is to mitigate the adverse effects of this capitalism. It is considered that the present government aims at "economic democracy" slogan and also be matched. The worker's equal rights to share profits of private companies means the distribution rights of workers to receive excess profits of the company. The review of these worker's equal rights to share profits of private companies is thought very meaningful.

A Method of Profit Allocation for Sharing Economy among Companies Considering the Transaction Costs (거래비용을 고려한 기업 간 공유경제에서의 이익 배분 방안)

  • Currently, many enterprises are trying to allocate the investment costs and risks through collaboration, and strengthen their competitiveness by sharing their resources and gains. Intercorporate sharing economy, a type of intercorporate collaboration, refers to the economic activity to share the idle resources of enterprises and enhance their efficiency. For a successful intercorporate economy with the participation of various stakeholders, there is a need to establish the clear allocation method of gains. Accordingly, this study suggested three methods-the MST method that can apply transaction cost incurred when forming a coalition for sharing economy; the average of transaction cost incurred by each participant, and the Shapley Value application method for the transaction cost incurred between the participants. In addition, this study also suggested gain allocation methods such as the "Equal distribution of gain" method, a gain allocation method based on the Cooperative Game Theory, the the "Proportional distribution of gain" method, and the Shapley Value method that takes in consideration the transaction costs.

  • 구매자와 판매자를 대신하는 협상 에이전트는 전자상거래에서의 중요성에도 불구하고 아직까지 현실 생활에 적용될 수 있는 수준에 이르지 못하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 Tip-off 정보를 이용해 상호 이익을 보장하며 협상 결과 및 협상 수행 시간을 동시에 고려한 다중 속성 협상 시스템을 제안한다. 제안 시스템의 성능을 평가하기 위한 기준 시스템으로써 양자간 모든 정보를 가지고 최적 협의를 도출할 수 있는 중개 에이전트 시스템을 구현하고 이를 본 논문에서 제안한 협상시스템과 비교하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 시스템은 상대방의 모든 정보를 완벽하게 알지 못하는 상황에서 최적의 협의에 가까운 결과를 도출하였고. 협상 수행시간에 있어서는 매우 빠른 성능을 보여주었다.

Earnings Management of Firms Selected as Preliminary Unicorn (예비유니콘 선정기업의 이익조정에 대한 연구)

  • This paper analyzed the Earnings management of firms selected as preliminary Unicorn. If a manager is selected as a preliminary unicorn firm, he can receive financial support of up to 20 billion won, creating a factor in managing the manager's earnings. The motive for management's earnings management is related to the capital market. Accounting information is used by investors and financial analysts, and corporate profits affect corporate value. Therefore, if the accounting earning is adjusted upward, the corporate value will be raised and investment conditions will be favorable. In this paper, earnings quality was measured by the modified Jones model of Dechow et al.(1995) by the ROA control model of Kothari et al.(2005) among the discretionary accruals estimated using an alternative accrual prediction model. Competing similar companies in the same market as the selected companies were formed, and the discretionary accruals were mutually compared to verify the research hypotheses, and only the selected companies were analyzed for the audit year and after the audit year. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the companies selected as preliminary unicorns had higher earnings management compared to the corresponding companies in question, which had a negative impact on the quality of accounting profits. It was found that the companies selected as preliminary unicorns continued to receive incentives for management's earnings management even after being selected. These results indicate that the companies selected as prospective unicorns are recognized for their value in the market through external growth rather than internal growth, and thus, incentives for management's earnings management to attract investment from external investors under favorable conditions are continuing. In the future preliminary unicorn selection evaluation, it was possible to present what needs to be reviewed on the quality of accounting earning. The implication of this paper is that the factors of management's earnings management eventually hinder investors and creditors from judging the reliability of accounting information. It was suggested that a policy alternative for the K-Unicorn Project, which enhances reliability were presented by reflecting the evaluation of earnings quality through discretionary accruals.

  • 에이전트를 이용하여 의견을 교환하여 타협안을 찾거나. 혹은 양자간 협상 시 양쪽의 에이전트는 각자의 이익을 최대로 하려고 한다. 하지만 한쪽이 많은 이득을 많이 취할 경우 상대방의 이익은 줄어들게 되고 손해를 본 사용자는 에이전트의 신뢰를 잃게 된다. 본 연구에서는 다중 사용자, 다중 속성, 비선형 협상 전략 환경에서 유틸리티 함수와 유전자 알고리즘을 이용하여 양쪽에게 균등한 이익이 돌아감과 동시에 최대의 이익이 되는 제안을 생성하는 중개 에이전트의 핵심 알고리즘을 구현하는 것이 논문의 목적이다.

  • 많은 기업들은 오늘날 치열한 경쟁 시장에서 효율적인 공급 사슬 관리를 통하여 경쟁적 우위를 확보하려 한다. 이러한 효율적인 공급 사슬 관리를 위해서는 공급 사슬상의 구성원들이 자신이 보유하고 있는 정보를 다른 구성원들과 공유하고 각자의 의사결정에 있어 이러한 공유된 정보를 효과적으로 반영하여야 할 것이다. 효과적이고 정확한 정보의 공유를 위해서는 공급 사슬 상에 속해 있는 구성원들의 적극적인 참여가 무엇보다 필요하다. 이러한 적극적 참여는 공유된 정보가 종국에는 자신에게 이익이 될 것이라는 믿음에 기반 하여야 할 것이다. 정보 공유를 하는 경우가 그렇지 않는 경우에 비하여 그 효과가 클 것이라는 것은 당연할 수 있다 그러나 정보 공유를 위해서 요구되는 투자비용과 서로 이질적인 구성원들 간에 협업을 통해 공통의 의사결정을 내리는데 야기될 수 있는 갈등 등을 고려할 경우 그 효과의 정도가 충분히 크지 않는 경우에는 서로의 정보를 공유하는 것이 이익이 될 것이라고 말하기 어려울 것이다. 정보 공유의 이익은 공급 사슬 환경에 따라 상이할 것이다. 본 연구에서는 어떤 환경에서 이러한 정보 공유에 따른 성과가 극대화 될 것인지, 혹은 반대로 미비한 결과를 나타낼 것인가에 대하여 시뮬레이션 실험을 통하여 분석하였다. 기존의 연구를 바탕으로 공급 사슬 환경 구성을 위한 3가지 환경 요인을 정의하고 각각의 환경요인에 변화에 따라 정보 공유를 통한 경우와 그렇지 않은 경우에 있어 어떤 성과를 내는지 알아보았다.

  • In this study, Based on the analysis of the correlation between internal control quality and earnings management, this article discusses the correlation between internal control quality and real activity earnings management and accrued earnings management. For this study, by introducing the concept, classification, measurement method and model of internal control and earnings management, the research hypothesis of this article was proposed. In this analysis, Use the relevant measurement model to calculate the actual activity earnings management level and accrued earnings management level of the enterprise, as the explained variable, establish a model for regression and were analyzed. Also, this study could find the final results draws a conclusion through empirical research: there is a significant negative correlation between the internal control quality of listed companies, real activity earnings management, and accrued earnings management. On the basis of this conclusion, the analysis of possible causes provides a basis for the development of internal control theory and the supervision and control of earnings management behavior in the future.
