Estimating Departure-based Mode Choice by Spatial logistic Models (공간로지스틱 모형을 이용한 이용자 출발지 기준 수단선택 확률추정 연구)

  • In general, the analysis of travelers' mode choice behavior is accomplished by developing the utility functions which reflect individual's preference of mode choice according to their demographic and travel characteristics. In this paper, we propose a methodology that takes the spatial effects of individuals' departure locations into account in the mode choice model. The proposed methodology allows us to estimate mode shares by departure places even though the survey does not cover all areas. This will help transportation agencies to evaluate how the difference of individuals' departure places such as residential, retail, and commercial area affects on mode choice behaviors.

Modal Choice with Travel Time Reliability (통행시간 신뢰도를 고려한 통행수단선택모형에 관한 연구)

  • In mode choice decision, travelers consider not only travel time but also reliability of its modes. In this paper, reliability was expressed in terms of standard deviation and maximum delay that were measured based on triangular distribution. In order to estimate value of time and value of reliability, the Multinomial and Nested Logit models were used. The analysis results revealed that reliability is an important factor affecting mode choice decisions. Elasticity is used to estimate the impacts of the different policies and system improvements for water transportation mode. Among these policies, decision maker can assess and select the best alternative by doing the benefit and cost analysis based on a new market share, the value of time, and the value of reliability. Finally, a set of promising policies and system improvement of the water transportation were proposed.

A Study on Physical Activity by Transportation Mode Using Heart Rate (심박수를 활용한 교통수단별 신체활동 정보 분석 연구)

  • Recently, with the development of various sensors and communication technologies, the market for wearable devices capable of recording physical activity in connection with a smartphone is expanding. The purpose of this study is to analyze physical activity for each transportation modes in order to utilize wearable devices in the field of transportation. This study consists of three steps: data collection, basic statistical analysis, and physical activity analysis. Four adult males and females were recruited as investigators, and physical activity and route information were collected through Fitbit, a commercial wearable device. From the collected physical activity information, a percentage of heart rate reserve (%HRR) using a heart rate was derived and used for analysis. As a results, it was found that there is a statistically significant difference in heart rate for each transportation mode, and physical activity intensity is the highest when walking. In addition, the results of physical activity analysis for the case of using different routes for the same OD were presented. The results presented in this study are expected to be used as basic data for preparing public transportation activation policies and providing customized services for the future.

  • 소비자 행태에 관한 신고전 경제이론을 통행수요의 분석에 그대로 적용하는데 문제 가 되는 특기 사항으로는 운임이외에 통행시간과 같은 서어비스 질도 통행수단의 선택에 영 향을 미친다는 점과 특정 두지점간의 통행에서 동일한 소비자도 여러 수송수단을 이용한다 는 점을 들수 있다. 본 연구의 주제는 이와같은 통행수요의 독특한 특성을 반영할 수 있는 소비자의 효용최대화모형의 설정과 이 모형에서 유도된 수요함수의 구조를 분석함에 있다. 상술하면, 통행시간 가치의 불확실성 아래에서 효용을 극대화하는 의사결정문제를 Stochastic Programming 모형으로 표현하였다. 또한 이 모형에서 유도된 특성 통행수단의 수요함수는 이 수단이 가장 유리한 시간가치의 범위에 대한 부정적분으로 표현되며 이 적분 범위와 피적분함수는 모든 경쟁수단의 운임과 통행수단의 함수로 정의됨을 증명하였다. 또 한 수요함수는 통행수요에 관한 통계분석모형에서 묵시적으로 가정되고 있는 통행수단간 대 체성(Property of gross substitute)과 대각방향우세성(Property of diagonal dominance)등의 특성을 가지고 있음을 보여 주었다.

The Guidelines for Station Layouts and Their Assessments in Railroad Transfer Centers (철도 환승센터의 시설배치기준 및 평가방안)

  • The mass transit networks in Korea, such as buses, metro and subway, are co-related and the number of transfer points, in which a lot of pedestrian movement is generated, are rising. The functions of the transfer centers, in which several travel modes cross at a point, have to include convenience and comfort for pedestrians using the transfer centers, and such functions can make transit a more attractive travel option and thus eventually contribute to increases in ridership. However, the guidelines for station layouts and their assessments in transfer stations are not suggested so far. So the pedestrian pattern data (pedestrian walking distances and times, pedestrian approaching distances and times, pedestrian walking paths in the inside of stations) was collected and analyzed. Based on the results of the analysis, the ways to measure the quality of comfort for those who using transfer facilities were suggested using the times that pedestrians consume to transfer from a travel mode to another. The walking time of pedestrians at the inside of stations was also measured by pre-selected pedestrian pathways as the guidelines for station layout assessment in transfer facilities.

  • 수요감응교통체계는 승객들의 통행요구에 따라 보다 신속하고 효율적으로 안락하고 편리하게 경제적으로 교통서비스를 제공하는 것이다. 특히 기존의 공공교통수단이 미치지 못하는 저밀도 도시 지역의 통행수요를 만족시키는데 좋은 수단으로써 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 즉 리무진 같은 소형차량을 이용하여 승객의 통행요청에 따라 개인적인 door-to-door 서비스를 제공하는 것이다. 본연구는 수요감응교통체계의 대안으로서 도시 서비스에 있어서 고정.노선변경승객 써비스에 대한 $\ulcorner$스케쥴 알고리즘$\lrcorner$을 개발하는데 목표를 둔바 목적함 수는 Waiting time, Riding time,Scheduled vehicle의 노선용량제한등과 같은 승객써비스 시 간제약에 대해서 각기 개별차량 여행과의 차를 극대화하여 보았다. 사용자중심 Sub-program과 PASS의 두 Sub-program으로 구성된 Simulation 모형을 활용할 경우 어떠 한 도시 써비스지역에서의 고정노선 혹은 변경노선 각각에 대해서 임시적인 차량운행의 감 응식 효율 증진에 크게 기여할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

  • The study suggested a demand forecasting method which explicitly reflects transfer between various transport modes especially related light rail transit project with multi-modal transit system. The suggested method classifies several groups depending on characteristic of trips and applies different demand model for each group to explain travel pattern more realistically More specifically. the trips was classified by trips within the LRT route, trips between inside and outside of the LRT route. and through trips via the LRT route. The study also suggested a evaluation measurement of time saving due to the LRT construction, which are consistent along with the do-case and the do-nothing-case even though some mode shift could be happen after introducing the LRT.

Access and Egress Patterns of Travel to a Regional Railway Station Based on Transit Smart Card Data (Case study: Seoul Station during Chuseok Holiday) (명절기간 중 서울역 철도 이용객의 접근통행 특성 연구)

  • This study analyzed passenger access and egress travel patterns related to a Korean regional railway station (Seoul station), then developed a binomial logit model. This model referred to bus and metro mode of access and egress during a national holiday (Chuseok 2009); obtained from transit smart card data. The results showed that 99% of passengers getting access to, or egress from, the regional railway station did so using less than two transfers, and that most passengers were more likely to choose a metro. However, the passengers that made access or egress trips near Seoul Station were more likely to take a bus. From the results of the mode choice model, it was found that the impact of travel time was greater than that of travel cost, in the choices made for both access and egress. Interestingly, the impact of travel time is much greater in choosing the mode of egress.

  • With the increases of average commuting time of office workers in the Seoul metropolitan area and the cost of traffic congestion on roads, the need for new transportation is increasing and urban air mobility (UAM) is emerging as an alternative. Therefore, in this paper, the vertiport locations were selected and routes were established using population, traffic and commuting data of Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Vector thrust type and multicopter type of eVTOL compatible for UAM were selected by analyzing the types of eVTOLand time required for selected routes was calculated. In addition, the time required when we utilize other transportations was compared with UAM. Finally, it was verified that the commuting time can be sharply reduced when we use UAM.

A Model for Evaluating the Connectivity of Multimodal Transit Networks (복합수단 대중교통 네트워크의 연계성 평가 모형)

  • As transit networks are becoming more multimodal, the concept of connectivity of transit networks becomes important. This study aims to develop a quantitative model for measuring the connectivity of multimodal transit networks. To that end, we select, as evaluation measures of a transit line, its length, capacity, and speed. We then define the connecting power of a transit line as the product of those measures. The degree centrality of a node, which is a widely used centrality measure in social network analysis, is employed with appropriate modifications suited for transit networks. Using the degree centrality of a transit stop and the connecting powers of transit lines serving the transit stop, we develop an index quantifying the level of connectivity of the transit stop. From the connectivity indexes of transit stops, we derive the connectivity index of a transit line as well as an area of a multimodal transit network. In addition, we present a method to evaluate the connectivity of a transfer center using the connectivity indexes of transit stops and passenger acceptance rate functions. A case study shows that the connectivity evaluation model developed in this study takes well into consideration characteristics of multimodal transit networks, adequately measures the connectivity of transit stops, lines, and areas, and furthermore can be used in determining the level of service of transfer centers.
