최근 정보의 디지털화가 보편화되면서, 웹상에서 전자자원의 이용을 원하는 이용자들의 증가와 함께 전자자원이 이를 생성한 개인(또는 기업 등)의 소유물(자산), 즉 라이선스라는 개념이 부각되고 있다. 이용자의 전자자원의 접근과 이용은 라이선스 계약 조건 범위 내에서 허용되어야 하므로 전자자원의 라이선스와 관련한 데이터요소들의 개발 및 이를 통한 체계적 관리가 필요하다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 이와 같이 전자자원의 라이선스 계약을 용이하게 하기위해 전자자원을 효율적으로 관리할 수 있는 전자자원 라이선스 관련 표준 메타데이터를 설정하고, 타 메타데이터와의 교환과 통합을 위한 기본정보를 제공하는 Information Model을 설계하였다.

Although social metadata has strengths in creating amount of user-contributed resource descriptions, its function is limited because of its non-systematic characteristics. This research proposed an alternative approach to semantic organization of social metadata. It analyzed the semantics of tags created in LibraryThing in order to provide bibliographic categories for describing information resources. Social information Architecture is adopted in generating the bibliographic categories so that social metadata framework can be constructed. This framework can provide the conceptual foundations for semantically organizing social metadata and is expected to be applied to the existing approaches to automatically organize social metadata.

The Metadata are used for the reuse of core information, distribution and management, protection of copyright and prevention of overlapping investment. Serious game consists of multi-hierarchial multimedia data. And quality information is very important for selection according to the purpose of the game. In this paper, we designed the serious game metadata schema, including multi-media characteristic information and measurable quality information. This study will lay the groundwork for the development of metadata system which can provide serious game users with reliability through quality information, and with compatibility through multi-media characteristic information. Furthermore, we hope this study will be helpful to stable growth in serious game industry.

I designed the game UCI identification metadata to enable the game industry to provide copyright protection of game content, the efficiency of the management and distribution. This was mapped with existing UCI metadata which is composed of 9 elements that are applied to international standards for interoperability. I redefined 3 elements and added 3 more elements for reflecting the characteristics of the game. So it is composed of 12 elements in total. The result is verified by the general user survey and expert interviews. And I will develope the game UCI identification metadata management system with the results of study to be utilized by game agencies.

This paper describes the major components of ISO/IEC 11179 metadata registry (MDR) standard designed to promote data interoperability between systems, explains and discusses semantic web technology and Web ontology languages initiated by W3C that can be employed to further enhance data interoperability, and finally proposes a framework for a new RDF/OWL-based MDR to convert from the current human-readable MDR to machine-readable MDR. If the new MDR is successful, we might be able to offer a better customized information service to users. The future research will be concerned with evaluating objectively the effectiveness of machine-readable MDR in meeting the needs of real users.

오늘날 미술관은 이용자가 원하는 정보를 정확히 파악하여 접근하고 활용할 수 있도록 소장 작품 뿐 아니라, 이와 관련한 미술기록 정보까지 제공하는 것을 고려하고 있다. 따라서 미술기록을 관리하는 업무에 최근 들어 미술계 및 관련 분야에서 아트 아카이브의 관심과 인식이 증가하고 있다. 관련하여 이 연구에서는 국내 국 공립미술관의 미술기록관리 현황 및 메타데이터 레코드 구축 현황을 살펴보았다. 분석 결과 미술작품 관련 여러 미술기록 대상의 기록관리나 관련 메타데이터 구축이 충분히 진행되지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 메타데이터 요소가 여러 유형의 미술기록을 포함하여 기술하기에는 부족한 것으로 파악되었다.

Libraries, not only research libraries but also public libraries, have been fundamentally affected by the immense spread of the Internet and the World Wide Web. Many public libraries have their Web pages, through which they are providing their new and conventional services. There are also web sites which provide library-like services. This paper shows an experimental project named Internet Public Library Asia, which provides information in multiple languages of information resources published in Chinese, Japanese and Korean languages. This paper firstly overviews how traditional public libraries have been affected by the Internet. Then, it describes a few aspects from the viewpoint of crucial library function on the Internet and also from the viewpoint of Asian resources and users. This paper secondly proposes a model to serve information about valuable resources published in multiple Asian languages, and then shows the metadata schema and a few software tools developed for IPL-Asia The name of IPL is borrowed from Internet Public Library based at University of Michigan, since it is, in part, a collaborative activity with the IPL in Michigan. The metadata schema is defined based both on Dublin Core and IEEE LOM and adapted for parallel description in the four languages, i. e. , Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English. The software tools provide functions to support collaboration among people engaged in development of metadata database and metadata editing. These tools have been developed based on the XML technologies.

Lately, most of the libraries subscribe electronic resources such as e-journals, under the license contracts for the access and use of these electronic resources. It was found that the management of licensed electronic resources in the library has become one of the major problems due to the lack of proper metadata elements in the existing management system of electronic resources. The purpose of the study is to establish metadata for licensed electronic resources.

The Industrial Metadata Registry(IMR) for standardizing industrial information metadata was implemented and four drafts of metadata sets were developed based on the ISO/IEC 11179. The IMR consists of four individual metadata registries characterized by subject category. Accordingly, the system includes the integrated administration module, and the divisions administration module. The users of the system are divided into committee members and general users. The system has been developed with Oracle 9i and Java JSP over Linux operating system. The system will support the procedure for data sharing and exchanging among users and organizations and improve the availability and manageability of data and provide the standardization of data across the industry.

본 고에서는 공학분야 중에서도 그 응용범위가 가장 광범위하다고 할 수 있는 기계공학분야의 이용자에게 수준 높은 웹 정보자원을 효율적으로 제공하기 위하여 검색엔진을 통하여 자동 수집된 웹 정보자원을 기계공학분야 주제전문가의 평가를 통해 핵심정보를 선정하고 이를 더블린코어 메타데이터를 응용한 베타데이터 요소에 따라 조직하여 웹 상의 검색 인터페이스에 의해 이용될 수 있도록 주제 게이트웨이 시스템을 설계하였다. 정보자원의 검색방법으로는 키워드 검색과 주제분류체계에 따른 브라우징 검색 등 두 가지 방법을 이용하였다.
