본 연구에서는 연구정보시스템의 이용성을 위해 고려해야 하는 이용자 인터페이스 설계 원칙과 이용자 인터페이스 요소를 분석함으로써 연구정보시스템의 이용자 인터페이스 설계 방안을 모색하였다. 이를 위해 문헌조사를 통해 인터페이스 설계 원칙을 조사하여 연구정보시스템의 인터페이스 설계 원칙을 도출하였고, 이를 바탕으로 이용자 인터페이스 분야 전문가와 이용자의 의견을 조사하였다. 연구결과, 학습의 용이성, 이용자와 시스템과의 원활한 커뮤니케이션, 접근의 용이성, 이용자 작업의 효율성, 이용자 중심의 이용 환경, 정보 적합성에 대한 신속한 판단 등과 관련된 이용자 인터페이스 설계원칙과 인터페이스 요소를 적용하여 연구정보시스템의 이용성을 높일 수 있음을 확인하였다.

본 연구는 분산환경에서 이용자가 다수의 데이터베이스를 개별적으로 검색할 매와 통합적으로 검색할 때에 유용성과 이용자선호도, 이용자 만족도를 비교 분석하였다. 본 연구에는 럿거스대학 School of Communication, Information, and Library Studies에 재학중인 28명의 대학원생들이 참가하였다. 두 시스템에 대한 이용자선호도와 만족도에는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 많은 참가자들이 통합인터페이스보다 분리인터페이스를 선호하였고, 분리인터페이스의 검색결과에 더 만족하였다. 통합인터페이스의 편리함과 능률성에도 불구하고 참가자들이 분리인터페이스를 선호한 주된 이유중의 하나는 데이터베이스를 이용자 스스로 선택하고 통제할 수 있기 때문인 것으로 나타났다.

This paper investigates the user interface design principles and evaluation methods with the corresponding examples. Some of these principles are: 1) focus on the users and their tasks, not the technology; 2) consider function first, presentation later; 3) conform to the users' view of the task; 4) do not complicate the user's task; 5) promote learning; 6) deliver information, not just data; 7) design for responsiveness; and 8) try it out on users, then fix it. In addition, this paper deals with the general human computer interaction issues as the basis for introducing the user interface design principles.

This study reviews various aspects of design of user interfaces in interactive information retrieval systems. Specially the study examines, 1) search related interfaces such as query processing, search strategies, and multilingual processing, and 2) browsing related interfaces such as document browsing and search result browsing. The main goals of this review are to characterize user interface techniques in information retrieval systems and to suggest potential future research direction and challenges.

본 연구의 목적은 객관적으로 측정가능한 이용자 중심의 정보검색시스템의 인터페이스 평가항목과 세부평가지표를 도출하는 데 있다. 이를 위하여, 정보검색시스템의 이용자 요구사항과 인터페이스 요소를 분석하여 상관관계를 밝히고, 인터페이스 평가영역에 포함되는 인터페이스 요소와 이용자 요구사항을 파악한다. 국내외 인터페이스 평가모델을 종합하여 인터페이스 평가영역 및 지표를 도출하고 전문가 집단의 설문조사를 통해 타당성과 신뢰성을 검증한 인터페이스 평가지표를 정립하고자 한다.

Twenty-eight university libraries are analyzed by five characteristics； access point, operational characteristics, interface listing items. user help function, search types. 본 연구는 정보검색시스템에서의 이용자 인터페이스 효용성을 높이기 위하여 시도된 연구를 다각적으로 조사하였다. 특히 질의어처리 인터페이스, 탐색처리 인터페이스, 탐색수정 인터페이스를 중점으로 한 탐색관련 인터페이스 기능과 어휘 브라우즈, 이전 탐색 브라우즈, 탐색결과 브라우즈와 같은 브라우즈 관련 인터페이스 기능에 대하여 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 인터페이스의 새로운 기능과 앞으로의 경향도 기술하였다.

본 연구의 목적은 OPAC의 이용자 인터페이스에 관한 기존의 연구들과 Web에 공개된 각 대학도서관의 OPAC 검색 인터페이스를 분석하여, 좀더 개선된 이용자 친화적인 인터페이스를 설계하는데에 도움을 주고자 하는 것이다. 연구를 위해서 국내 대학도서관 vendor(SOLARS, Glogate, Core정보시스템) 시스템을 중심으로 검색 인터페이스 요소들을 설정하였다.

The study goal is to develop the user interface design principles to improve the usability of university course management systems. To achieve the goal, a usability study was conducted using a survey questionnaire and usability test. Eleven user interface design principles for university course management system were developed based on the usability study. This study has significance in that student opinions were incorporated directly into the user interface design principles of university course management system.
