User Interface Design Principles and Evaluation Methods (이용자 인터페이스 설계 원칙과 평가방법)

  • This paper investigates the user interface design principles and evaluation methods with the corresponding examples. Some of these principles are: 1) focus on the users and their tasks, not the technology; 2) consider function first, presentation later; 3) conform to the users' view of the task; 4) do not complicate the user's task; 5) promote learning; 6) deliver information, not just data; 7) design for responsiveness; and 8) try it out on users, then fix it. In addition, this paper deals with the general human computer interaction issues as the basis for introducing the user interface design principles.

  • 이용자 개인의 정보요구 및 이용자 정보를 적극 활용하여 이용자 만족도를 극대화 하고자 하는 CRM(Customer Relationship Management)은 도서관계에도 시사하는 바가 크다. 현재 도서관자동화 시스템을 기반으로 도서관 업무가 수행되고 있는 만큼 CRM 시스템과 연계하여 도서관자동화 시스템의 기능을 향상시킨다면 도서관 서비스의 향상을 기대할 수 있을 것이다. 이를 위해서는 이용자중심 서비스로의 전환을 위한 업무의 재구성이 필요하고, CRM과 연계하여 기존 자동화시스템을 보완하여야 할 것이며, 아울러 이용자 개인의 다양한 정보요구를 만족시키려는 도서관 사서의 적극적인 서비스 자세가 조직문화로 정착되는 것이 병행되어야 할 것이다.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze user needs of university libraries for design of user-centered information retrieval system. To do this, 6 kinds of basic system design factors necessary for user-centered information retrieval system design of the university libraries are used. The user needs which should be considered for system design are examined and analyzed through the questionnaires made by user-centered approach according to the design factors.

  • Using user satisfaction surveys and LibQUAL+ instruments, libraries are increasingly gathering qualitative data such as verbatim user comments as well as quantitative data. Such qualitative data can be utilized as clues in establishing library service strategies: to better understand user issues, to identify areas for service improvement, and to prioritize user needs. For this, it is necessary to analyze user comments data and to apply results to the delivery of service and the library policies. This study is an attempt to investigate ways in which user comments data can be made useful in libraries. It identifies different methods of analyzing user comments data from LibQUAL+ surveys and compares qualitative data analysis software programs and taxonomies. It also presents the results of applying these tools to a subset of actual user comments data gathered from a recent LibQUAL+ survey at a major university library in Korea.

  • This paper looks at several areas in which American public libraries are beginning to transform themselves. These include : (1)their mission and roles in the community;(2)the provision of Internet access;(3)remote user access;(4) customer-driven services; and (5) the changing roles and functions of librarians. It also examines some of the other controversial issues that are confronting public libraries as they implement technological change.

Development of the Bicycle Level of Service Model from the User's Perspective (이용자 중심의 자전거도로 서비스수준 모형 개발)

  • South Korea is seeking for a solution to the problems of traffic congestion and environment: the increase of bicycle use. However many people feel that using a bicycle is inconvenient. Therefore, we developed bicycle level of service model from the user's perspective so that the existing bicycle roads can be evaluated and improved. The purpose of this paper is to develop a bicycle level of service (LOS) model by considering user's satisfaction and multiple factors that affect bicycle LOS. Bicycle LOS criteria is estimated by applying an ordered probit model, which is suitable for research relating to choice. In addition, we determine the bicycle LOS using three-level(A-C) LOS structure from the user position considering the satisfaction level that people can distinguish clearly. The results show that the bicycle LOS is largely determined by the bicycle road width. Other factors are involved as well, including bicycle road type, the number of access and egress point on the bicycle road corridor, pedestrian volume, and frequency of meetings.

A Review of the Remodeling Project of Duksung Women's University Library (대학도서관 리모델링 프로젝트에 관한 소고 - 덕성여자대학도서관을 중심으로 -)

  • This article describes the whole process of Duksung Women's University Library's remodeling project. The library's remodeling project specified three concrete goals. Firstly, the remodeled library should be the center of the students' everyday life in campus. Secondly, the remodeled university library should be a place where students may experience culture. Thirdly, the remodeled university library should be a place where students enjoying spending as much time as they can. Eighty three percent of those using Duksung Women's University Library report satisfied with the newly remodeled library space and interior of the library building.

  • The user-centered EV charging infrastructure construction policy the government is aiming for can increase convenience for electric vehicle users and bring new electric vehicle users into the market. This study was conducted to provide an in-depth understanding of the charging behaviors of actual electric vehicle users, which can be used as basic information for the electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Based on charging diary data collected for a week, the charging of electric vehicles was analyzed on a daily and weekly basis, and sequence analysis and latent class analysis were used. As a result, five daily charging profiles and four weekly charging profiles were identified, which are expected to contribute to revitalizing the electric vehicle market by providing key information for decision-making by potential electric vehicle users as well for establishing user-centered charging infrastructure policies in the future.

Location of Large Scale Discount Store and Differences of Accessibility to Daily Shopping Places (대형할인점의 입지와 일상적 쇼핑장소로의 접근성 차이)

  • 본 연구를 통하여 대형할인점 이용자, 재래시장 이용자, 그리고 수퍼마켓 이용자들의 각 쇼핑장소를 중심으로 한 거주지역 공간적 분포 및 쇼핑패턴의 차이를 비교한 결과. 이 세종류의 쇼핑장소 이용자들간의 각 쇼핑장소들 중심으로 한 거주지역 분포의 공간적 패턴 및 쇼핑통행 패턴은 상당한 차이를 나타내고 있다. 또한 대형할인점을 이용자를 제외한 재래시장 이용자와 슈퍼마켓 이용자들을 대상으로 그들이 이용하기를 원하는 대형할인점의 이용을 제한하는 주요 요인을 분석한 결과 통행거리, 운전면허 미소지, 자가용 승용차 미보유 등 대형할인점으로의 접근을 위한 과정에서 발생하는 제약 요인들이 가장 큰 비중을 차지하고 있는 것으로 나타난다. 이러한 점들을 볼 때, 재래시장 및 수퍼마켓이 주민들의 일상적인 쇼핑장소의 역할을 할 때와는 달리 대형할인점의 등장은 이곳으로의 주민들의 접근능력의 차이에 따라 주민들간 일상적 소비장소의 차별화가 진행될 수 있음을 시사한다. 특히 최근 대형할인점의 입지가 가속화되고 이에 따라 재래시장 및 수퍼마켓의 기능이 쇠퇴하고 있음을 고려할 때, 신체적 그리고 사회경제적 특성의 차이에 따라 대형할인점으로의 접근에 제한을 받는 주민들의 일상적 소비공간은 더욱 위축되고 고립될 가능성이 있다.
