For total system performance of a potential radwaste repository, a hypothetical site is assumed with feasible boundary conditions. Assuming a coastal repository, the sensitivity of the depth and the location of a repository along with the distance to a joint on groundwater transport pathways is studied. Results from Connectflow analysis could be used as input of the MASCOT-t the probabilistic safety assessment code.

This paper is on the modeling of two-dimensional groundwater flow, which is the first step of the development of Dynamic System Model for groundwater flow and pollutant transport in subsurface porous media. The particular features of the model are its versatility and flexibility to deal with as many real-world problems as possible. Points as well as distributed sources/sinks are included to represent recharges/pumping and rainfall infiltrations. All sources/sinks can be transient or steady state. Prescribed hydraulic head on the Dirichlet boundaries and fluxes on Neumann or Cauchy boundaries can be time-dependent or constant. Sources/sinks strength over each element and node, hydraulic head at each Dirichlet boundary node and flux at each boundary segment can vary independently of each other. Either completely confined or completely unconfined aquifers, or partially confined and partially unconfined aquifers can be dealt with effectively. Discretization of a compound region with very irregular curved boundaries is made easy by including both quadrilateral and triangular elements in the formulation. Large-field problems can be solved efficiently by including a pointwise iterative solution strategy as an optional alternative to the direct elimination solution methed for the matrix equation approximating the partial differential equation of groundwater flow. The model also includes transient flow through confining leaky aquifers lying above and/or below the aquifer of interest. The model is verified against three simple cases to which analytical solutions are available. The groundwater flow model shall be combined with the model of pollutant transport in subsurface porous media. Then the combined model, with the applications of the Eigenvalue technique and the Dynamic system theory, shall be improved to the Dynamic System Model which can simulate the real groundwater flow and the pollutant transport accurately and effectively for the analyses and predictions.
Coastal aquifers may serve as major sources fur freshwater. In many coastal aquifers, intrusion of seawater has become one of the major constraints imposed on groundwater utilization. The management of groundwater in coastal acquifers means making decision as to the pumping rate and the spatial distribution of wells. Several numerical techniques for flow and solute transport simulation can provide the means to achieve this goal. As a basic study to predict the intrusion of seawater in coastal phreatic aquifers, the coupled flow and solute transport analysis was conducted by use of the 3-D finite element code, SWICHA. In order to understand how the location and the shape of freshwater-seawater transition zone were affected by the boundary conditions and hydrogeologic variables, parametric study was carried out.

For the numerical analysis of free oscillation characteristics in a harbor with general boundary and bottom topography, finite element method is applied. The governing Helmholtz equation is transformed into a generalized matrix eigenvalue problem using the standard finite element procedure. A computer code is developed for the numerical evaluation of natural frequencies and free oscillation modes. In the eigensolution process, a shifting strategy is devised for the treatment of numerical singularity. Scaling of coefficient matrix is also found to be effective for the alleviation of numerical ill-conditioning. For the test problems, firstly, analytical and numerical solutions are compared and validity of the code is obtained. Hence the method is successfully applicable for the real-world problems with general geometric boundaries and bottom topography.

Laminar natural convection heat transfer from a hot body in a square enclosure has been studied for various center positions of a hot body at Grashof number Gr=1.5$\times$10/sup 5/, Prandtl number Pr=0.71 and dimensionless thermal conductivity K/sub s//K/sub f/= 14710. In case of vertical cold walls, the natural convection at the dimensionless center position of a hot body, X/sub c/Y/sub c/=0.2, 0.5 shows the most strong and at X/sub c/, Y/sub c/=0.5, 0.8 the most weak. In case of horizontal cold walls, the natural convection at the dimensionless center position of a hot body ; X/sub c/ Y/sub c/=0.5, 0.2 shows the most strong and at X/sub c/, Y/sub c/=0.2, 0.5 the most weak.
The existing code which solves two-dimensional RANS(Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes) equations and 2-equation turbulence model equations was modified to enable numerical simulation of various supersonic flows. For this, various boundary conditions have been implemented to the code. Bleed boundary condition was incorporated into the code for calculating wall mean flow quantities. Furthermore, boundary conditions for the turbulence quantities along rough surfaces as well as porous walls were applied to the code. The code was verified and validated by comparing the computational results against the experimental data for the supersonic flows over bleed region on a flat plate. Furthermore, numerical simulations for supersonic shock boundary layer interaction with a bleed region were performed and their results were compared with the existing computational results.

In this paper, Electromagnetic scattering problem by a perfectly conducting strip grating with 2 dielectric layer on a grounded plane by incidence of a electric wave is analyzed by applying the PMM (Point Matching Method) known as a simple procedure. The scattered electromagnetic fields are expanded in a series of Floquet mode functions. The boundary conditions are applied to obtain the unknown field coefficients and the conducting boundary condition is used for the relationship between the tangential electric field and the electric current density on the strip When the incident angle is normal incidence the minimum value of the geometrically normalized reflected power according as relative permittivity is increased it should be noted that the value of the strip width gets moved toward high value. Them most energy by a normal incident wave is scattered in direction of the other angles except normal incident angle.

If there are some construction works that affect the stability of buried pipelines, the pipelines should be moved to guarantee their safety. In this paper, modeling methods for analyzing the movement of pipelines were sought, and the step-by-step stress estimation method of moving pipelines was developed. Some factors affecting of pipeline response such as the element type, the element size, boundary modeling, and geometric non-linearity were quantitatively investigated. In addition, some conditions in which accuracy and effectiveness can be compromised in the analysis of long pipelines were identified. A neural network was used to estimate the pipeline stress. The inputs to the neural network included step-by-step displacements, and the output was the resulting stress at each movement step. After training the neural network, it can be used to estimate pipeline stresses at some sub-steps that are not included in the training. A Windows-based stress estimation program was developed.
