The purpose of this study is to develop machine embroidery textile designs for each technique that can be expressed using a single-headed computer embroidery sewing machine through a machine embroidery CAD system. For research, embroidery CAD utilized the Artistic digitizer, and the guillotine computer-mechanical magnetization machine used ELNA. The design concept was limited to portraits and relics of independence activists in six memorial halls built in Korea. The results of this study are as follows. First, it was found that the machine embroidery texture, which could only be produced by industries in the past, can be expand in the infinite creative embroidery design area by enabling the digitalization of motif images and the simulation of machine embroidery techniques through various layout options. Second, in the development of machine embroidery textures, it was found that the setting of the width, height, axis ratio, stitch, object, path, length, density, layer order, etc. in embroidery CAD is a very important part of determining the completeness of the embroidery results. Third, mechanical embroidery textile designs, which can be represented by single-head computer machine embroidery machine were able to show colorful embroidery results that differs from the original image by using seven main techniques and five deep technique alone or in combination, according to the designer's intention.

This study suggests a fashion design using aesthetic characteristics of works by Kate MccGwire, a modern sculptor paying attention to soft sculpture materials such as feathers. In this research on MccGwire works, their internal meanings may be derived as the dualism of familiarity, movement and consciousness. Works also have aesthetic characteristics of overlapping, fluidity and twist. Using such characteristics, 4 one piece dresses and 2 vest dresses were made. Research findings are as follows. First, aesthetic characteristics of MccGwire works could be expanded into expressive areas of silhouettes and details in fashion. Second, visual flow and concentration could be expressed by gradual coloration of feather colors. Third, dart manipulation could be applied naturally by details and curve silhouettes of fashion design. Fourth, touch of feather material could be expressed fully by leaving the edge of garments raw. Fifth, spatiality of fashion could be implemented partially by applying decorative saddle stitching to costume design details. This study explored a potential of soft sculpture occurred during a transitional process of objet pursued by 20th century's avant-garde artists applicable to fashion design ideas that suggested methods for contemporary creative design.

This study aims to apply the formative aesthetic of human body to the form of clothing. For this purpose I try to find the various methods of analysis used in the work of sculpture. The method of inference and the checklists of design are used to relate the sculpture with the clothing design specifically. This methodology intends to regard human body as an artistic form and use the image of sculpture to the maximum. Especially I try to derive the motives of design and recreate them in clothing design emphasizing silhouette. On this methodology, following results were developed. First, the observations on the formative characteristic of human body show that the transformed form of human body expresses more perfect image of human body than the original form. The power of simplicity heightens the total beauty of the work. Second, the image of human body expressed in simplicity heightens the total beauty of the work. Second, the image of human body expressed in simplicity and exaggeration can be variously recreated in a silhouette with the formative and cubic effect, simplicity, and activity. Third, the elegant and static image found in the analysis and synthesis of human body can be used as a motive of clothing design and the changed details lead to the transformation of silhouette. Fourth, in developing designs by the item of checklists, one motive can be variously recreated according to the methods of designs.

China adopted a free market economy and is a member of WTO. It has now emerged as one of the most promising markets in the word for the near future. The purpose of this study was to investigate of Chinese women clothing behavior and preference of clothing design by body types and to suggest basic information for high quality clothes merchandising of exporting to China. The subjects in this study were 280 Chinese women, aged from 20 to 50 living in Beijing. The survey was taken from June to July, 1999. SAS(Statistical Analysis System) is used for frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, $\chi$$^2$-test, factor analysis. The results of this study are as follows. Ewamination on the Chinese womens clothing behavior showed that they attach importance to economy for purchasing clothes and have affirmative self-confidence. The thin body type women prefer to fashionable clothes while the fat body type has more reasonable economic behavior for clothing. It is needed to different merchandising project by body type in China..

This study aims to understand the importance of stage costumes, examine and analyze their theoretical ideas in order to propose new designs and support the studies and advances of stage costumes in play. The writer operated and produced the costume designs of Shakespeare's play, Measure for Measure as a costume director, which was played on September 16 to 17, 2011 at the Haneul Theater in the National Theater of Korea and on September 3, 2011 at the Jinnam Munye Theater. The study was followed by 1. Proposing a new modern point of view of the design of the traditional dresses in 16th to 17th centuries. 2. Expressing a symbolism based on personality, role and nature of characters in the play by a creative and modern image of the dress in color, line, and silhouette, which are basic factors of a clothes design.

Fashion exhibitions in museums are an important media to deliver ideas of fashion. Although it still arouses controversy, museums have become an ideal platform for fashion exhibitions since some fashion exhibitions have garnered successful results in mega museums. This can be considered as a cultural phenomenon and a new paradigm since fashion exhibitions in museums are closely related to new museums and fashion museology. Thus, this study examines the definition of 'fashion exhibitions in museums' based on new museums and fashion museology, and then lays the groundwork for its typology through an analysis of preceding research about fashion exhibitions from the 1970s to the present day. In consequence, fashion exhibitions in museums are categorized into five types; retrospective exhibition, survey exhibition, fashion photography and film exhibition, and consider both virtual exhibitions and fashion brand exhibitions.

최근 LED는 조명, 광고판, 디스플레이 등 다양한 분야에 널리 활용되고 있다. 이번 연구에서 우리는 공연에서 사용하기 위한 무대 의상에 LED 기술을 융합시키는 방법을 다룬다. 우리는 공연 환경의 요구 조건들을 충족시키기 위해서 무선 네트워크, 임베디드 시스템, 컨트롤 재킷, 디지털 스킨, 패턴저작도구로 구성된 디지털 의상 플랫폼을 제안하며, 이것은 LED 조명 효과를 가진 디지털 의상을 만드는데 활용된다. 임베디드 시스템은 무선 네트워크를 통해 공연 제어 시스템으로부터 제어 신호를 받고 그에 따라 실시간으로 LED 빛의 색 변화를 제어한다. 임베디드 시스템을 장착할 수 있도록 설계된 조끼 형태의 컨트롤 재킷은 임베디드 시스템과 LED를 연결하는 커넥터 역할을 하고, LED가 디자인된 외피 개념의 디지털 스킨은 연출가의 의도에 따라 의상에 디자인된 LED에 의해 그 자체로 발광체가 된다. 패턴저작도구는 타임라인 기반으로 LED 빛의 색이 변화하는 다양한 패턴들을 만드는 것을 도와준다. 디지털 의상은 새로운 형식의 움직이는 조명으로 활용되며 무대 표현 기술의 확장을 가능하게 한다. 우리는 디지털 의상 플랫폼을 적용한 디지털 의상을 제작하여 실제 공연에서 사용함으로써 디지털 의상 플랫폼의 안정적인 사용성과 활용 가능성을 검증하였다.

오늘날 AI 이미지 생성 프로그램은 패션 상품 광고, 맞춤형 패션 스타일 제안, 디자인 개발 등 패션 산업 분야의 세분화된 목적에 알맞게 개발되고 있다. 한편 색상은 강력한 조형 요소로서 상품이나 패션 스타일 제안을 위한 이미지 표현에 중요한 역할을 한다. 본 연구는 AI 이미지 생성 도구 중에서 미드저니를 사용하여 생성한 의상 이미지에 나타나는 색상과 배색 관계에 중점을 두어 그 특징을 파악함으로써 미드저니의 활용에 대한 이해를 넓히고자 한다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 미드저니에서 생성한 초기의 이미지는 명령어에 지시한 색상보다 이미지 생성을 위하여 사용한 기존의 이미지 색상에 더 의존적으로 반영되어 나타난다. 둘째, 미드저니에서 생성된 이미지의 의상에 나타난 배색의 특징은 의상의 구조에 따라 구분되는 부위별로 다른 색상이 표현된 분리배색과 의상의 한 부위에 다른 색상들이 무늬 형태로 표현된 혼합배색이 생성된다. 분리배색에 표현된 색상들의 비율은 명령어에 지시한 색상 순서의 영향을 받는다. 혼합배색에 조합되어 나타난 색상 수는 미드저니에서 이미지 생성을 위하여 사용한 기존의 이미지 속 의상의 색상 수와 명령어에 지시한 색상 수의 총합보다 적은 수의 색상으로 조합되어 나타난다. 셋째, 미드저니는 생성하는 이미지의 배경도 색상 표현을 위한 대상으로 인식하며 이에 따른 배경색의 변화는 이미지 속의 의상에 대한 사용자의 색지각과 의상 이미지 형성에 영향을 미칠 수 있으므로 주의가 필요하다. 본 연구 결과가 패션디자인 교육과 실무에 있어 미드저니에서 생성되는 이미지의 색상 배색에 대한 이해를 넓히고 이를 통하여 미드저니의 활용에 도움이 되기를 기대한다.

본 연구는 과거의 것으로부터 영감을 얻어 재창조되어지는 경향이 짙은 현대 패션 경향 중 1960년대 미술의 중요 쟁점으로 떠오르는 미니멀리즘의 개념과 특성을 중심으로 1990년대 후반의 컬렉션에 나타난 현대 헤어스타일과 의상을 분석하고자 하며, 이를 통하여 오늘날 다양하고 개성화 된 현대 헤어스타일과 의상을 이해하는데 그 목적과 의의를 둔다. 본 연구의 방법은 질적 연구로서 먼저 미니멀리즘에 관한 국내외 저서, 논문 등의 문헌연구를 통하여 분석틀을 제시한 후, 세부적으로 인터넷 즉 시각적 이미지를 분석틀에 적용하여 분석하는 방법을 사용하였다. 그 결과 현대 헤어스타일과 의상에 표현된 미니멀리즘적 디자인의 특성은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 단순성의 특성이 나타났다. 의상에 있어서 장식의 배제와 계절에 상관없이 형태의 최소화로 나타났으며, 헤어스타일에 있어서 모발의 은폐로 물체성 즉 인체 본성으로의 환원을 강조하였다 둘째, 단일성의 특성이 나타났다. 조각영역에 회화의 특징을 도입하여 조각영역의 확장을 가져오듯이 의상에 있어서 모노크롬한 색상의 의상을 사용함으로써 세련미을 표현하였고, 헤어스타일에 있어서도 의상과 동일한 색상으로 머리염색을 사용하였다. 셋째, 반복성의 특성이 나타났다. 의상에 있어서 내부적 외부적 패턴의 반복으로 나타났으며, 헤어스타일에 있어서도 염색기법을 활용한 모발 내 패턴의 반복과 외부적 첨가를 통한 모발 외 패턴의 반복이 나타났다. 넷째, 공간성의 특성이 나타났다. 의상에 있어서 신소재 개발에 따른 다앙한 소재를 차용하였고, 헤어스타일에 있어서는 철망, 유리 등의 공업용 소재를 사용해 두상과 장식과의 사이의 공간을 형성해서 관람자로 하여금 더욱 디자인에 몰입하도록 하는 적극적이고 활동적 참여를 유도한다고 볼 수 있겠다. 이처림 미술양식의 하나인 미니멀리즘은 현대 헤어스타일과 의상 디자인에 새로움을 더해주는 중요한 요소로 독특한 아이디어 발상으로의 변화를 가능하게 하였다. 또한 과거의 미술양식의 재등장은 단순히 한 시기의 패션 트랜드의 제시에 만 그치는 것이 아닌 앞으로 다가올 우리의 미래에 대한 전망도 함께 내포한다고 볼 수 있겠다.
