  • The purpose of this study is to develope a design prototype of 'Smart Battle Jacket' for the future soldier system. Future battle field is supposed to be the place where the information is the most important. Future soldiers are also supposed to get digital devices to have more possibility of survival in the battle field. To design the smart battle jacket that has digital devices inside, it's needed to forecast the body sizes and shape of the future soldiers, to research the human bodies and movements, and to study the functions of the digital devices and the relationship between the bodies and the devices. The usability of the 1st model for the Smart battle jacket had been tested, and the model had been corrected by the results from the test. After all, a smart battle jacket design prototype for the future soldier system has been developed.

  • The purpose of the paper is to find the elements of jacket pattern far the obese women who went to slenderize their shape by optical illusion. Representative four subjects participated in wear tests. Subjective evaluation of the visual appearance we collected and, at the same time, 3D clothing air volume was observed for the four types of experimental jackets. As results it was found that narrower shoulder width, back upper width, and front waist width resulted in slender look, however, back abdomen width and front shoulder length induced more slender appearance in waist area. The result of the distance between clothing and skin measured by 3D scanner clearly demonstrated the distribution of ease due to the elements of pattern, which is useful to find the pattern variables responsible for the slender appearance of the obese women.

  • This study suggests the sensing method of the Three-dimensional respiration rate sensor based on surface area changes, and exploring the design direction of the three-dimensional breathing sensor and the design orientation of the garment. To achieve this, two types of three-dimensional respiration rate sensor were produced, and the study of the dummy and the subjects studied. The study I investigated the possibility of measurement of the three-dimensional respiration sensor by the study variables of the sensor type and speed of respiration. The study II proposes a suitable type of sensor for each of the three measuring positions in addition to the study variables in the study I. To evaluate accuracy, reproducibility, and reliability of the three-dimensional respiration rate sensor, the BIOPAC was used to measure the respiration rate simultaneously with the three-dimensional respiration rate sensor. Through all these results of the experiment, it explored the possibility of measurement of the three-dimensional respiration sensor for the dummy. It also proposed a suitable type of sensor by measuring the respiration rate for the human body.

A Comparison on the Form in Women's Hanbok between the Later Chosun Dynasty and Modern Times- Applying Delong's Dividing System for Apparel Body Construct (조선 후기와 현대의 여자한복 형태 비교 -Delong의 복식형태 분류체계를 적용하여)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate difference and likeness on the form in women's Hanbok between the later Chosun Dynasty and modern times based on Belong's observing system for 'Apparel-Body Construct'. Belong's framework is composed 5 pairs of contrast word -'Closed or Open', 'Whole or Par', 'Planar Separation or Planar integration'. 'Flat or Rounded', and 'Determinate or Indeterminate'. Major findings of this study are as follows. First, the form of women's Hanbok in later Chosun Dynasty is 'Variably Closed', 'Part' and 'Rounded', whereas that in modern is 'Open', 'Whole' and 'Flat' Women's Hanbok of modern is lesser convex, and more open than that of later Chosun Dynasty according to increasing use of transparent textiles. Moreover, in comparison with old style, that of modern has the tendency of perceiving primarily whole feature by organic linkage of parts. Because of loose fit of Jeogori and rigid DongJong etc, characteristic of 'Plat' strengthened in modern Hanbok. Secondly, women's Hanbok in the later Chosun Dynasty and modern has common properties of 'Planar Seperation' and 'Determinate'. Women's Hanbok belongs to 'Planar Seperation', because the effect cognized to figure and ground. can be found between small parts and whole of Jegori, or can be found between the head and face. Jeuori and waist band, and Chima and under ware. Further more. it can be classified into 'Determinate'. because it use textiles which have no pattern un it or which show a subtle surface effect by texture changing.

  • This study researches the formative character of 1920's fashion through cinema costumes from the perspective of the theories of W$\"{o}$lfilin and Delong. This study organizes a new perspective such as closed form & open form, part recognition & whole recognition, and flat & rounded to analyze the characteristics of form in the costumes of 'The Great Gatsby', 'Chariots of Fire', and 'Chicago'. The 1920's style in the fashion history is a closed form and flat because of simplicity and functionality. The costumes in Chariots of Fire' that focuses on the reappearance of 1920's fashion is a flat and closed form. However, the costumes of 'The Great Gatsby' that presents a symbolic meaning and 'Chicago' that expresses a splendid look are an open and rounded form. Evening dresses are open, with whole recognition and a rounded form because of sheer fabrics, beading, uneven hemlines, and lighting. Daytime dresses are a closed form and flat because of heavyweight fabrics, dark or achromatic colors and non-patterns. Also, open form and rounded, closed form and flat have a similar distribution in diagrams. When the viewer recognizes the form of clothes, they react in a similar way to two-dimensional and three-dimensional presentations that shows that the form of clothes is recognized by the relation with the body. In addition, this study researches the connection between diverse elements such as clothes, body, movements, space, and external elements such as lighting.

  • The purpose of this study is to progress the limitations and disadvantages of existing safety clothing by applying high technology to current safety clothing that is produced and distributed only with fluorescent fabrics and retroreflective materials. Therefore, the industrial suspender-type safety belt and engineering technology are introduced, designed, and fabricated to help save a life in an emergency. First, the suspender-type safety belt to be developed is designed to emit light by LED attached to the film, and the body of the belt-wearer is recognized from a distance through retroreflection from the flashing LED. It aims to support people's safety by preventing accidents during roadside work, rescue activities, and sports activities at night. Second, with the development of advanced devices when the user is in an unconscious state due to distress or falls into an unconscious state due to distress or accident, the tilt sensor of the control unit attached to the belt automatically detects the angle of the human body and generates light and sound. It is intended to further enhance the utilization by mounting a sensing and signaling device that generates a distress signal and shaping it in the form of a belt attached to a vest that can be easily detached from the outside of the garment. When the wearer falls due to an accident, the tilt sensor of this belt detects the angle change and then the controller generates a high-frequency sound and repeated LED blinking signals at the same time. In the case of conventional safety vests, it is almost impossible to detect that the person is wearing a vest when there is no ambient light, but in case of the safety belts in this study, the sound and light signals of the safety belt enable us to find the wearer within 100 meters even when there is no ambient light.
