The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between the combination of women's clothing by season and thermal insulation using a thermal manikin. A total of 34 kinds of clothing ensembles were selected based on previous studies(8 types for spring/fall, 7 types for summer, and 19 types for winter). The results were as follows: The thermal insulation of clothing ensembles($I_{cle-total}$) ranged from $0.34{\sim}0.60clo$ for spring/fall, $0.16{\sim}0.37clo$ for summer, and $0.89{\sim}1.35clo$ for winter. The correlation coefficient between the thermal insulation of clothing ensembles and thermal insulation accumulated by the individual garments composing of the clothing ensembles($I_{cle-summed}$) was 0.982(p<0.001). The correlation coefficient between the thermal insulation of clothing ensembles and total clothing layers for the upper body part was 0.750 (p<0.001), for the total clothing weight was 0.978(p<0.001), and for the covering area was 0.776(p<0.001). In conclusion, $I_{cle-total}$ showed higher relationships to the $I_{cle-summed}$ and total clothing weight than to the total clothing layers or surface area covered by clothing.

본 연구에서는 20∼50대의 남녀를 대상으로 중년 남성의 의복디자인에 따른 시각효과를 연상디자인적인 면에서 고찰하여 중년남성의 체형에 가장 적합한 의복디자인을 규명하는 것에 그 목적을 두었다. 중년남성의 체형을 균형화 시키는 연상디자인 시각효과를 유발시킬 수 있는 신사복 정장의 형태를 파악하기 위해 일반적으로 중년남성이 외출복으로 착용하는 정장스타일의 수트를 선정하여 의복디자인의 형태구성요인이 다르게 조합된 연상디자인 시각효과를 분석한다. 그리하여 체형결점을 보완할 수 있는 의복의 형태구성요인을 파악하여 사회적 상황에서 중년남성들이 표출하고 싶은 시각적 느낌을 효과적으로 드러낼 수 있는 체형에 대해서 적절하며 또한 효과적인 의복디자인을 제시하고자한다. 또한, 이와 관련된 소재에 따른 시각적 평가가 다르게 이루어질 것으로 판단되어 소재별 시각효과, 여밈 및 단추 수의 변화, 체형에 따른 시각효과의 차이에 관해서 알아보고자 하였다.

The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of wearer's body type and clothing type, neutral tone combination on impression formation. The experimental materials developed for this study are a set of stimuli and response scales(The 7-point semantic). the stimuli are 90 pictures manipulated with wearer's body type, clothing type and neutral tone variation by computer simulation. The subjects are 540 female undergraduate students in Kyung-nam. The resulte of this study are as follows : Impression factor of the stimulus consisted of the 5 demensions(tenderness, cuteness, attractiveness, elegance, intrepidity). Wearer's body type had significant effects on all five factors. Especially, it had the strongest effects on attractiveness. Clothing type had significant effects on tenderness, attractiveness, intrepidity. Neutral tone combinations had significant effects on all factors except elegance. In regarding the effect of interaction between each variable, the combination of clothing type and neutral tone combination had significant effects on attractiveness, elegance, intrepidity.

The Purpose of this study is to find out the effect of clothing style and color, tone combination on impressions formation. The experimental materials developed for this study are a set of stimuli and response scale(The 7-point semantic). The stimuli are 36pictures manipulated with clothing style, color and tone variation by computer drawing. The subjects are 216 female undergraduate students and 216 female of middle age(40~50) in Chin-ji city. The resulte of this study are as follows : Impression factor of the stimulus was consisted of the 5 different demensions(attractiveness, elegance, activity, revealation, tenderness). Among there, attractiveness and elegance factors proved to be more important. In the attractiveness and tenderness, clothing style, color, tone combinations and perceiver's age had the significant effect. In the elegance and revealation, color and perceiver's age had the significant effect but in the activity, only color did not have the significant effect. Significant interaction effects of clothing style and color, style and tone combination, and color and perceiver's age on attractiveness and revealation were found. Interaction effect of color and tone combination was significant on the elegance and revealation, and that of color and perceiver's age was significant on tenderness.

The main purpose of this study was to investigate restaurant servers' perceptions of Asian customers in the U.S. based on physical appearance. Servers' tipping expectation and intention to give quality service were measured by manipulated photographs featuring three aspects of physical appearance (i.e., gender, attire, obesity). Repeated-measures ANOVA was performed to compare eight conditions created by these combinations of three physical appearance factors. The results showed that servers' tipping expectation and intention to give quality service differed according to Asian customers' physical appearance, and the relationship between attire and gender was also found. The research findings are expected to provide managers with guidelines that offer equitable service.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the thermal characteristics of garments marketed for Korean males and to investigate the influence of each garment on ensemble, by measuring their insulation values(clo) using thermal manikins. The results are as follows. The total insulations(clo) of ensembles for S/S seasons are between 1.46 and 2.6 clo, with the mean of 2.12 clo. The insulation in the still air condition is 1.23 clo, which means a decrease of 42% compared to the total insulation of all the component garments. The insulation of ensembles for S/S seasons in the dynamic air condition decreased by 46.8%, compared to the still air condition. The total insulation(clo) of ensembles for F/W seasons is between 3.84 and 7.36 clo with the mean of 4.74 clo. The insulation in the still air condition is 2.26 clo, which means a decrease of 53.6% compared to the total insulation of all the component garments. The insulation of ensembles for F/W seasons in the dynamic air condition decreased by 36.2%, compared to the still air condition. As the clo value of each component garment gets higher, the insulation of ensembles gets higher. Especially, the insulation of ensembles was more influenced by outer wear than inner wear. The insulation of ensembles could be predicted by the insulation of outerwear better.

The purpose of this study is to find out its effect on wearers' impression formated by combination of their body type with neutral tone clothing. The experimental materials developed for this study are a set of responses to stimulus in scales(7-point semantic). 45 pictures used as stimulus are, through computer simulation, manipulated to five wearers' body type and nine neutral tone wear. The subjects are 276(?) female undergraduate students in Kyung-nam area. Factors on wearers' impression suggested as responses to the stimulus consist of 5 different demensions (Tenderness, Cuteness, Attractiveness, Elegance, Intrepidity). The results of this study are as follows: first, combination of their body type with neutral tone wear significantly affects the formation of wearers' impression in the factor of Tenderness, Attractiveness, and Intrepidity (?); to the factor of Attractiveness, wearers' body type is rather more related than wearers' neutral tone wear is. Second, the harmony of their body type with neutral tone wear has a significant effect on wearers' impression in the factor of Cuteness. According to those results, the combination of wearers' body type with neutral tone wear has significant effects on the formation of wearers' impression.

The results of this study are as follows: Impression factor of the stimulus consisted of 5 different dimensions including tenderness, cuteness, attractiveness, elegance, intrepidity. Each impression of neutral tone combinations, along with wears' body types, had a significant effect on tenderness, attractiveness, and intrepidity. Especially, it had the strongest effects on attractiveness. Each impression of wearers' body types along with neutral tone combinations affected cuteness significantly. According to the fact above, wears' body types and neutral tone combination have a significant influence on the impression formation of wearers.

Sensibilities to the clothing components such as style and color tone of fashion product are considered important to the consumers in fashion industry today. So the combinational study of clothing sensibility and proper end-use style are needed to improve the product refinements in developing process through scientific research method. The purpose of this study is to measure the sensibilities of the blouse type as a clothing component for it is a representative garment of women and to look for the best matching color tone according to blouse type. We surveyed the questionnaire to two hundred college students and found that there was a meaningful relational consistency between blouse type and color tone. Blouses have been told the best if they are of Bright color tone. They preferred Shirt blouse type and Bright color tone best of all. They are fond of Vivid color tone but they think Vivid tone is not so proper to the blouses. Each blouse has 1~2 best-fit color tones, and color sensibility affect the harmony of blouse style and color tone. The sensibilities of blouse type and color tone are deeply correlated each other regardless of subject's major or gender except a few cases.
