Unsupervised Noun Sense Disambiguation using Local Context and Co-occurrence (국소 문맥과 공기 정보를 이용한 비교사 학습 방식의 명사 의미 중의성 해소)

  • In this paper, in order to disambiguate Korean noun word sense, we define a local context and explain how to extract it from a raw corpus. Following the intuition that two different nouns are likely to have similar meanings if they occur in the same local context, we use, as a clue, the word that occurs in the same local context where the target noun occurs. This method increases the usability of extracted knowledge and makes it possible to disambiguate the sense of infrequent words. And we can overcome the data sparseness problem by extending the verbs in a local context. The sense of a target noun is decided by the maximum similarity to the clues learned previously. The similarity between two words is computed by their concept distance in the sense hierarchy borrowed from WordNet. By reducing the multiplicity of clues gradually in the process of computing maximum similarity, we can speed up for next time calculation. When a target noun has more than two local contexts, we assign a weight according to the type of each local context to implement the differences according to the strength of semantic restriction of local contexts. As another knowledge source, we get a co-occurrence information from dictionary definitions and example sentences about the target noun. This is used to support local contexts and helps to select the most appropriate sense of the target noun. Through experiments using the proposed method, we discovered that the applicability of local contexts is very high and the co-occurrence information can supplement the local context for the precision. In spite of the high multiplicity of the target nouns used in our experiments, we can achieve higher performance (89.8%) than the supervised methods which use a sense-tagged corpus.

  • URI spotting (탐지) 문제는 텍스트에 있는 단어열 중에서 URI로 대표되는 개체(entity)에 해당되는 것을 탐지하는 것이다. 이 문제는 두 개의 작은 문제를 순차적으로 해결하는 과제이다. 즉, 첫째는 어느 단어열이 URI에 해당하는 개체인가를 인식하는 것이고, 둘째는 개체 중의성 해소 문제로서 파악된 개체가 복수의 URI에 해당할 수 있는 의미적 모호성이 있을 때 그 URI중 하나를 선택하여 모호성을 해소하는 것이다. 이 논문은 디비피디아 URI를 대상으로 한다. URI 탐지 문제는 개체명 인식 문제와 비슷하나, URI(예를 들어 디비피디아 URI, 즉 Wikipedia 등재어)에 매핑될 수 있는 개체로 한정되므로 일반적인 개체명 인식 문제에서 단어열의 품사열이 기계학습의 자질로 들어가는 방법론과는 다른 자질을 사용할 수 있다. 이 논문에서는 한국어 텍스트를 대상으로 한국어 디비피디아 URI 탐지문제로서 SVM을 이용한 개체경계 인식 방법을 제시하여, 일반적 개체명 인식에서 나타나는 품사태거의 오류파급효과를 없애고자 한다. 또한 개체중의성 해소 문제는 의미모호성이 주변 문장들의 토픽에 따라 달라지므로, LDA를 활용하며 이를 영어 디비피디아 URI탐지에서 쓰인 방법들과 비교한다.

  • Negative Stripping Construction in English involves the disjunction but, the adverb not, and a constituent NP. This construction is an incomplete sentence although it delivers a complete sentential meaning. Interpretation of this construction may be ambiguous in that the constituent NP can either be construed as the subject, or as the complements including the object. To generate such sentences and resolve the issue of ambiguity, we propose a construction-based analysis under direct interpretation approach, rejecting previous analyses based on deletion approaches. In so doing, we suggest a negative stripping construction rule that can account for ambiguous meaning. This rule further can enable us to explain syntactic structures and readings of Negative Stripping Construction.

Corpus-Based Ontology Learning for Semantic Analysis (의미 분석을 위한 말뭉치 기반의 온톨로지 학습)

  • This paper proposes to determine word senses in Korean language processing by corpus-based ontology learning. Our approach is a hybrid method. First, we apply the previously-secured dictionary information to select the correct senses of some ambiguous words with high precision, and then use the ontology to disambiguate the remaining ambiguous words. The mutual information between concepts in the ontology was calculated before using the ontology as knowledge for disambiguating word senses. If mutual information is regarded as a weight between ontology concepts, the ontology can be treated as a graph with weighted edges, and then we locate the least weighted path from one concept to the other concept. In our practical machine translation system, our word sense disambiguation method achieved a 9% improvement over methods which do not use ontology for Korean translation.

  • The Sejong Electronic(machine-readable) Dictionary, developed by the 21st century Sejong Plan, contains systematically organized information on Korean words. It helps to solve problems encountered in the electronic formatting of the still-commonly-used hard-copy dictionary. The Sejong Electronic Dictionary, however has a limitation relate to sentence structure and selection-restricted nouns. This paper discuses the limitations of word-sense disambiguation(WSD) that uses subcategorization information suggested by the Sejong Electronic Dictionary and generalized selection-restricted nouns from the Korean Lexico-semantic network. An alternative method that utilized semi-supervised learning, the chi-square test and some other means to make WSD decisions is presented herein.

  • 사전 뜻풀이에서 추출된 기존의 의미정보는 동형이의어가 포함된 뜻풀이에서 명사, 용언을 모두 추출하는 방법을 이용하여 단어 중의성 해소에 부적절만 정보를 상당수 포함하게 되었다. 이러만 부적절한 정보 때문에 오분석이나 과분석이 발생하게 된다. 그러므로 기존의 의미정보에서 동형이의어 분별에 유용한 정보만을 선택하는 기준이 필요하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 사전 뜻풀이에서 동형이의어와 의미정보 사이의 상호정보량을 계산하고 임계치를 선정하여 의미정보를 선택제약하는 방법을 이용하였다. 임계치에 의해 제한된 의미정보의 효율성을 실험하기 위한 다양만 동형이의어 분별 실험들을 수행하였다.

  • 한국어의 의미 분석을 위해서 의미소가 부여된 말뭉치(Sense-Tagged Corpus)의 구축은 필수적이다. 의미 태깅은 어휘의 다의적 특성으로 인해, 형태소나 구문 태깅에서와 같은 규칙 기반의 처리가 어려웠다. 기존의 연구에서 어휘의 의미는 형태소와 구문적 제약 등의 표층상에서 파악되어 왔으며, 이는 의미 데이터 기반으로 이루어진 것이 아니었기에, 실용적인 결과를 얻기가 힘들었다. 본 연구는 한국어의 구문과 의미적 특성을 고려하고, 용언과 모어 성분간의 의존 관계 및 의미 정보를 나타내는 하위범주화사전과 어휘의 계층적 의미 관계를 나타낸 의미사전(시소러스)을 이용하여, 반자동적인 방법으로 의미소가 부여된 말뭉치의 구축을 위한 기준과 알고리즘을 논하고자 한다.

Improving the Retrieval Effectiveness by Incorporating Word Sense Disambiguation Process (정보검색 성능 향상을 위한 단어 중의성 해소 모형에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents a semantic vector space retrieval model incorporating a word sense disambiguation algorithm in an attempt to improve retrieval effectiveness. Nine Korean homonyms are selected for the sense disambiguation and retrieval experiments. The total of approximately 120,000 news articles comprise the raw test collection and 18 queries including homonyms as query words are used for the retrieval experiments. A Naive Bayes classifier and EM algorithm representing supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms respectively are used for the disambiguation process. The Naive Bayes classifier achieved $92\%$ disambiguation accuracy. while the clustering performance of the EM algorithm is $67\%$ on the average. The retrieval effectiveness of the semantic vector space model incorporating the Naive Bayes classifier showed $39.6\%$ precision achieving about $7.4\%$ improvement. However, the retrieval effectiveness of the EM algorithm-based semantic retrieval is $3\%$ lower than the baseline retrieval without disambiguation. It is worth noting that the performances of disambiguation and retrieval depend on the distribution patterns of homonyms to be disambiguated as well as the characteristics of queries.

  • In recent, there are many research cases that analyze trends or research trends with text analysis. When collecting documents by searching for keywords in abbreviations for data analysis, it is necessary to disambiguate abbreviations. In many studies, documents are classified by hand-work reading the data one by one to find the data necessary for the study. Most of the studies to disambiguate abbreviations are studies that clarify the meaning of words and use supervised learning. The previous method to disambiguate abbreviation is not suitable for classification studies of documents looking for research data from abbreviation search documents, and related studies are also insufficient. This paper proposes a method of semi-automatically classifying documents collected by abbreviations by going topic modeling with Non-Negative Matrix Factorization, an unsupervised learning method, in the data pre-processing step. To verify the proposed method, papers were collected from academic DB with the abbreviation 'MSA'. The proposed method found 316 papers related to Micro Services Architecture in 1,401 papers. The document classification accuracy of the proposed method was measured at 92.36%. It is expected that the proposed method can reduce the researcher's time and cost due to hand work.
