  • The purchase-related responses of MZ generation consumers may vary depending on the environmental factors of the fitting room. Therefore, this study extracted and systematized fitting room characteristics in the retail fashion environment. In-depth interviews were conducted with a total of 50 informants to collect data on the experience of using the fitting room. Then, a qualitative analysis was performed. First, results confirmed that the environmental factors of the fitting room include physical (spatiality, functionality, comfort, and convenience) and human (interactivity and congestion) aspects. Next, additional analysis was performed on functionality and interactivity to clarify the influence of environmental characteristics of the fitting room. These factors were classified into qualitative categories. The study results confirmed that, in the case of functionality, preferred lighting and mirror factors vary depending on the clothing product type, the place and situation for wearing, and individual characteristics. Furthermore, regarding interactivity, the preference for the presence of sales staff or companions differed according to personal traits and the need for additional information and evaluation. The study provides valuable information for effective fitting room space planning for offline fashion stores to meet the needs of MZ generation consumers.

  • The goal of this study was to investigate the impacts of customer satisfaction, store image, and switching barrier on store loyalty of the clothes shops at a large-scale discount store. The subjects were 357 female adults living in Suncheon City, Jeollanam Province. The questionnaires were conveniently sampled from June 1 to 30, 2006. The collected data were factor and reliability analyzed using the SPS program. And LISREL was used to test and evaluate the relationships between the constructs through confirmatory factor analysis and covariance structure analysis. Among the six hypotheses set in the research model, total four were selected through empirical analysis and the rest two were rejected. The analysis results were useful in making a conceptual model that could keep the simplicity about store loyalty and had increased explanatory power. Thus it turned out the deciding factors of store loyalty for the clothes shop at a discount store were customer satisfaction and switching barrier rather than store image. Customer satisfaction had the biggest influences on store loyalty among the expected variables. Considering the direct impacts of switching barrier on store loyalty, it's important to work on switching barrier along with customer satisfaction in order to maintain the customers' store loyalty. The efforts to identify the various factors of store loyalty in addition to switching barrier, customer satisfaction, and store image will lead to such marketing strategies as can vitalize the clothes shops at a large discount store.

The respondents are classified into several groups according to their preferences on the environmental elements of clothing store. Also the relationship between the factors and the shopping characteristics of customers is reviewed based on the results. This survey was carried out through a questionnaire of male and female university students(Busan region) in their twenties. The data were analyzed by using Factor analysis, Cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA, Duncan test as a post identification and regression analysis. The results of this research can be summarized as follows; The perceived 7 factors about environmental elements of clothing store were service policy, store atmosphere, product variety, shopping convenience, trend of products, freedom of shopping and reception service. The respondents were classified into three groups(high recognizing group, middle recognizing group and low recognizing group) by the level of recognizing 7 factors. There were significant differences among 3 groups divided by the degree of recognizing the factors regarding environmental elements of clothing store and there was the meaningful relationship between these 7 factors and shopping characteristics. The high recognizing group has shopping characteristics like more shopping time, large expenditure for clothing and a lot of comparative stores. They are frequently in contact with clothing shopping environment and easily purchase clothes. Finally, the factors perceived by the environmental elements of clothing store significantly affected the shopping characteristics of the customers. • Digital signage in a smart store would engage and invoke responses from consumers because good in-store experiences are more important than ever. Thus, the present study investigates consumer perceptions of interactive digital signage integrating technology acceptance model. Specifically, the current study examined 1) the effects of personal and fashion innovativeness on interactivity; 2) the effect of interactivity on perceived usefulness, ease of use, and enjoyment; and 3) the effects of perceived usefulness, ease of use, and enjoyment on intentions to use the products and the store, visit the store, and engage in word-of-mouth. As a pre-study, two researchers visited the smart stores of six brands in Seoul, all of which integrate various technologies in the fashion field. A video clip was developed as a stimulus to the study. A total of 214 responses were gathered and analyzed. The results were as follows. Personal innovativeness has a significantly positive effect on interactivity, whereas fashion innovativeness has no significant effect. Interactivity had positive effects on the perceived usefulness, ease of use, and enjoyment. Consumer responses (i.e., intentions to use, visit, and engage in word-of-mouth) were predicted by usefulness and enjoyment, but not by ease of use. The findings of this study could provide the fashion industry and retailers practical and valuable insights into enhancing consumers' in-store experiences through the use of interactive digital signage.
