There has been a large increase in research interests in clothing and textiles area as reflected in increase of memberships of the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles and the number (If issues of the Journal of the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles. The main purpose of this study was to examine the articles published in the JKSCT. Subject areas, funding source, length of article, and authors were examined for all articles published from 1977 to 1992. References were examined for the articles published in five selected years. The results showed that papers in textiles and sociopsychological areas accounted for approximately 40% of all articles, while the number of articles in fashion marketing has increased significantly in recent years. Professional jounals were quoted most often followed by books. Importance of master's thesis of PhD dissertation was a unique phenomenon appeared in the JKSTC. The JKSTC was the most often quoted journal, even though wide variety of journals were used in different subject areas. Some suggestions to improve the JKSTC and research in clothing and textiles area are made based on the results of this study.

Today, functional gloves must allow the wearer to perform many kinds of delicate work while protecting the hands from hazardous materials. In this study, multiple analyses of 3D hand measurements were performed to provide information on the hand size and shape required for the design of functional gloves for adult men. Size and shape characteristics were identified from 19 different hand measurements, and three factors were collected through factor analysis. The aggregated factor score was used to classify men's hand shapes into three types. These types showed different distribution patterns according to age, indicating a significant distribution difference between hand type and age group. Discriminant analysis extracted nine items that highly contributed to determining hand type. However, since the data provided by Size Korea have some limitations in fully representing hand shape, sampling additional types of hand measurements and using consistent conditions and methods are required for more accurate analysis.

This study develops a wearable solar energy harvesting device that absorbs solar energy to generate and store power which can be used during outdoor activities by users even after dark. For this study, a prototype hat for outdoor activities at night was developed after the design of a solar energy harvesting generation, storage, and delivery system was designed that could store energy to light up LEDs. First, the main control board of the system was designed to integrate the charging function, the darkness detection circuit, the battery voltage sensing circuit, and the LED driving circuit in order to reduce bulkiness and minimize the connection structure. It was designed to increase convenience. Second, the system was designed as a wearable fashion product that connected each part with fiber bands and manufacturing it so as to be detachable from the hat. Third, charging and LED operation tests show that the battery is fully charged after 5 hours even in winter when the illuminance value is low. In addition, the LED operation experiment verified the effectiveness of a buffered system that could operate the LEDs for about 3 hours at night.

Most apparel products have national standards for sizing; however, for gloves, national sizing standards have not yet been established. This study aims to analyze children's hand dimensions and propose a size specification for children's gloves that shows children's hand-related size information. Among the 3D measurements of sixth Size Korea Project, the measurement data of 19 dimensions related to the hands of 1,057 boys and girls aged 7-13 years old were analyzed. The distribution and growth trend of hand measurements for boys and girls demonstrated considerable mean differences and distribution trends by gender and age as per hand dimensions, which leads to the conclusion that it is necessary to show these results in the children's glove design. Based on these results, the cross-distribution maps of children's hand length and hand circumference were drafted; furthermore, the distribution relationship with an adult hand size was identified. Based on the distribution of hand sizes, the distribution of adult hand sizes overlapped with children's hand sizes was verified, and children's glove size specifications were presented. The results can be used as useful data such as measures for setting the size range and sizing system for children's gloves.

Herein, a highly elastic e-textile band with a two-wire transmission line was designed and fabricated for smart clothing applications. A conductive yarn with a very uniform low electrical resistance of 0.0357 Ω/cm was developed and used for the signal and ground lines. To control the elasticity of the e-textile band, spandex yarns were added in the warp direction during knitting and the tension was adjusted. As the length of the e-textile band increased, its RF performance deteriorated. Furthermore, the frequency corresponding to -3 dB S21 was lower in the 30% stretched band than in the unstretched band. For the e-textile bands with lengths 10, 50, and 100 cm, the frequencies corresponding to -3 dB S21 were 107.77, 24.56, and 13.02 MHz when not stretched, and 88.74, 22.02, and 12.60 MHz when stretched by 30%. The fabricated bands were flatter, more flexible, and more elastic than transmission line cables; thus, they can be easily integrated into wearables and smart clothing. However, to increase RF performance and achieve optimum utilization, future studies must focus on the fabrication of transmission lines with lower resistance and reduced distance between the signal and ground lines, and thus the number of transmission lines can be increased.

This study is to investigate the current use of POS system in Korean clothing industry, so that we can make suggestions for better use of it. We interviewd companies using POS systems as well as EAN Korea which is in charge of POS data processing. As a results. we found out that standard KAN code has severe difficulties to cope with the diversity of the information which is necessary in clothing industry. Therefore we are making some suggestions to use KAN code as a recognizing code for more structured master data file for extremely diverse clothing items.

The purpose of this study was to investigate product evaluation on consumer's buying behavior of domestic & imported golf wear brands. The questionnaires were sent to 200 consumers who play golf. The 119 data were analyzed by mean, t-test, ANOVA and chi-square. The results of the study were as follows: There were significant differences on consumers' evaluation of apparel quality on fabric and style between groups. Consumers evaluated that the imported golf wears made of more soft, light and unique fabric than domestic, and had a unique and characteristic style. The evaluation of apparel quality according to demographic information has significant difference. Consumers(46-55 ages, business managers and professional) evaluated imported brands were made of soft and light fabric. Consumers(business managers) buying imported brand evaluated dry-cleaning was inconvenient. Consumers who engaged in service industry evaluated domestic brands were easy to coordinate with other items.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the current brand of mail-order clothing, consumers' attitude over importance of brand and the effectiveness of brand when consumers purchase clothing by mail-order shopping. for this study, mail order catalogs were analyzed and the samples were collected through the questionaire distributed to 214 women. It was analyzed by SAS package. The results are as follows; 1. As a result of mail-order catalog analysis, domestic clothing included few famous brand except foreign brand. 2. The users of mail-order purchasing were old and married women comparably. They were also high clothing-expense users and housekeepers. Item that consumers wanted to buy using mail-order shopping were home-wear, night-wear, accessories and scarves which were involved low risks comparably. 3. Consumers regard brand significantly as a means of credit in purchasing mail-order shopping clothing. In analysis between importance of mail-order clothing brand and demographics, degree of education and clothing expense per month showed significant difference.
