  • The body shape measurement method using 3D images has been widely used due to the recent development of 3D measurement cameras and algorithms. Existing 3D imaging devices are expensive devices, and there is a limit to their universalization. Due to the recent spread of inexpensive 3D cameras and the development of various measurement methods, various possibilities are being shown. It is expected to have a great impact on the medical device market that requires accurate data collection. Various medical device products using artificial intelligence are emerging, and accurate data collection is the most important to develop accurate artificial intelligence algorithms. Collection equipment using 3D cameras is expected to act as a major factor in the development of artificial intelligence algorithms using 3D images.

  • 최근 디지털 의료영상 자료들이 급격히 증가하고 의학과 임상에서 많은 병원과 기관 사이의 협업연구가 증가함에 따라 지리적으로 분산된 외부 기관과의 원격 데이터 공유 및 원격의 데이터 접근이 필요하게 되었다. 의료 장비 사이의 데이터 교환을 위한 DICOM은 외부 기관의 방화벽으로부터 의료 이미지 데이터 접근을 지원하는 보안 방법과 전송 속도 문제로 인해 협업 환경에 적합하지 않으며, 의료 이미지 데이터 관리 기능을 제공하지 못한다. 본 논문에서는 그리드 기반의 협업 환경을 제안하고 웹 서비스를 이용한 그리드 데이터 관리 기능을 구현하여 의료 분야의 PACS 통합과 의료 이미지 데이터 교환 문제를 해결하였다.

Performance Testing of Medical US Equipment Using US Phantom(ATS-539) (Focusing on Daegu Region) (초음파팬텀(ATS-539)을 이용한 의료용 초음파장비의 성능검사(대구지역을 중심으로))

  • This study is to provide accurate information as medical imaging equipment to check for the presence of body disease US equipment. We investigated the status of medical US equipment performance in Daegu and criteria US phantom (ATS-539) for US equipment performance measurements. The results in this study, 1. US phantom measurement results: The test passed rate were 88.6% and the failed rate were 11.4%. 2. The difference between the group of mean and the pass/failed groups were statistically significant. Focal zone and 4 mm functional resolution in the two items that are not present the passing standard. 3. The difference was statistically significant number of years and used equipment and pass the failed equipment (4.13 vs 7.25 years). We investigated the performance status of US equipment used in the clinical area in Daegu. The basis for the two items are not present this proposed passing standard. Equipment performance was associated with the number of years of using US equipment. It is necessary to maintain the best performance of the equipment phantom measurements for performance testing of US equipment.

  • 디지털 영상 검출기와 디스플레이 기술의 발달과 의료영상전달시스템(PACS)의 출현은 전통적 필름방식에 비하여 디지털 방식으로 방사선과 영상을 획득하고 전송, 저장하는 매우 효과적인 수단을 제공하고 있다. 2002년 8월, 연세의료원 세브란스병원은 진단 영상 판독 목적으로 18 대의 CRT(Braco View, Belgium)와 32대의 평판 LCD(Totoku Electric Co., Ltd., Japan) 디스플레이 장치를 GE full-PACS(GE 메디칼시스템코리아 : GEMSK)와 연계하여 설치 완료하였다. 본 연구에서, 기하학적 왜곡, 반사, 휘도 반응, 휘도 균일도, 분해능, 노이즈,베일링 글레어, 칼라 균일도 항목들을 AAPM TG18 보고서 9.0에 따라서 시각적 그리고 부분적으로는 정량적인 방법으로 인수검사를 실시하여 보고한다. 사용된 장비는 색도계로도 사용되는 간편한 휘도계, TG18 테스트 패던, AAPM Tg18 AT plug-in software(Barco View Ltd., Kortrijk, Belgium)이었다. 칼라 균일도를 제외한 모든 테스트 결과는 AAPM TG18에서 권고하는 기준에 일치하였으며 진단 영상 판독에 사용하기에 전적으로 수락할 수 있는 성능이었다. 결론으로, 사용된 인수검사는 단지 인수 검사 표준을 제공하는 것 뿐만 아니라 품질검사(QC)의 지침, 판독 환경의 최적화 그리고 교체 시기나 업그레이드 시기를 결정하여주는 중요한 역할을 할 수 있을 것이다.

  • Following the appearance of the latest medical equipment with improved function, the importance of image analysis which enables effective image processing and analysis consistent with the hardware performance is on the rise. As well as, ongoing study is being done on the 2D medical image processing and 3D reconstruction. This paper segments chest CT images into each stage and finally shows 3D reconstruction of each segmented result. Among various image segmentation methods, Region Growing and apply sharpening and Gamma Controller as for image improvement for effective segmentation, image segmentation in order of bronchus and lung, bronchus, lung. Human organs image of segmented is use VTK(Visualization Toolkit) to make 3D reconstruction, two and three-dimensional medical image processing and analysis for lesions diagnosis are able to utilized.

A Study on the Status and Improvement Direction of Radiographic Imaging Examination Assessment in Korea Medical Institutions (한국 의료기관의 방사선 영상검사 평가 현황 및 과제)

  • This study was conducted to analyze the status radiological imaging examinations assessment in Korea medical institutions conducted in the public sector and suggest a direction for improvement. Among the assessment of medical institutions, the main assessment related to radiographic imaging examinations are the certification evaluation of medical institutions and the adequacy assessment of radiographic imaging examinations. The certification evaluation of medical institutions evaluates the image inspection operation process, provision of accurate results, and compliance with safety management procedures. In the assessment of adequacy of radiographic imaging examinations, structural indicators related to manpower and equipment, patient evaluation implementation rate, and exposure reduction programs were included. However, for safer and higher-quality radiological imaging examinations, it is necessary to increase the participation rate of medical institutions in certification evaluations. In addition, it is necessary to improve the manpower indicator, and incentive payments can be considered to induce quality improvement of medical institutions in the future. Integrated management of radiation exposure at the national level should also be carried out simultaneously.

Evaluation of the Usefulness of Virtual Reality Equipment for Relieving Patients' Anxiety during Whole-Body Bone Scan (전신 뼈 검사 환자의 불안감 해소를 위한 가상현실 장비의 유용성 평가)

  • Purpose When performing a whole-body bone scan, many patients are experiencing psychological difficulties due to the close distance to the detector. Recently, in the medical field, there is a report that using virtual reality (VR) equipment can give pain relief to pediatric patients with weak concentration or patients receiving severe treatment through a distraction method. Therefore, in this paper, VR equipment was used to provide psychological stability to patients during nuclear medicine tests, and it is intended to evaluate whether it can be used in clinical practice. Materials and Methods As VR equipment, ALLIP Z6 VR (ALLIP, Korea) was used and the experiment was conducted after connecting to a mobile phone. The subjects were 30 patients who underwent whole-body bone examination from September 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021. After intravenous injection of 99mTc-HDP, 3 to 6 hours later, VR equipment was put on and whole body images were obtained. After the test, a survey was conducted, and a Likert scale of 5 points was used for psychological anxiety and satisfaction with VR equipment. Hypothesis verification and reliability of the survey were analyzed using SPSS Statistics 25 (IBM, Corp., Armonk, NY, USA). Results Anxiety about the existing whole-body bone test was 3.03±1.53, whereas that of anxiety after wearing VR equipment was 2.0±1.21, indicating that anxiety decreased to 34%. When regression analysis of the effect of the patient's concentration on VR equipment on anxiety about the test, the B value was 0.750 (P<0.01) and the t value was 6.181 (P<0.01). decreased and showed an influence of 75%. In addition, overall satisfaction with VR equipment was 3.76±1.28, and the intention to reuse was 66%. The Cronbach α value of the reliability coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.901. Conclusion When using VR equipment, patients' attention was dispersed, anxiety was reduced, and psychological stability was found. In the future, as VR equipment technology develops, it is thought that if the equipment can be miniaturized and the resolution of VR content images is increased, it can be used in various clinical settings if it provides more realistic stability to the patient.

  • The pixels used in a digital X-ray detector have different sensitivities and offset values. A non-uniform image is consequently obtained. Flat-field correction was introduced to resolve this problem and carried out image preprocessing in a digital imaging system. Nevertheless, the non-uniform images caused by several reasons have been being occasionally acquired. In this study, the non-uniform images acquired in digital imaging systems were applied to flat-field correction, and NPSs were calculated and analyzed with those images before and after correction. It was confirmed that low frequency noise were effectively eliminated.

  • Medical imaging device에서 이미지 정보의 교환은 PACS의 성공을 결정짓는 중요한 요소이다. 즉 이미지 정보를 획득한다는 것은 네트워크상에서 정보를 신속 정확히 얻을 수 있다는 장점을 말한다. 더욱 중요한 것은 이미지파일의 호환성이다. 의료영상저장전달시스템 즉 PACS는 병원의 모든 정보와 서로 연동될 수 있어야 한다. 데이타 통합과 시스템의 안정성은 PACS에 있어서 가장 중요한 필수요건이다. 위에 언급한 요구조건들을 모두 만족시키기 위해서는 시스템 상호간을 네트워크할 수 있는 공통의 통합 프로토콜이 필요하다. 이와같은 문제를 해결하기 위해서 The American College of Radiology(ACR)과 National Electrical Manufacturers Association(NEMA)는 1983년초에 업체간의 장비공유와 방사선 실무자들의 통합되는 프로토클을 제정하기 위해 위원회를 설립하였다. 여기서 제정된 프로토콜을 DICOM이라 정하였다. DICOM의 역사적 배경, 의미, 필요성과 시스템상에서 어떻게 역활해왔는가와 DICOM을 통한 PACS시스템의 실제 활용예에 대하여 알아보겠다.

Application of PET/CT Volume Rendering Technique to Improve Patient Satisfaction (환자의 만족도 향상을 위한 PET/CT Volume Rendering Technique 적용)

  • Customer satisfaction is a very important factor in the Korean medical system. However, the field of medical imaging is very difficult for the general public to understand. Therefore, in this study, as a way to solve the communication problem between the medical staff and the patient, the PET/CT image was reconstructed using the Volume Rendering technique to increase patient satisfaction. VRT was performed on 360 cancer patients who had undergone PET/CT examination. As a result of a satisfaction survey on 100 patients, all 100 patients showed that the VRT image was superior to the existing image. PET/CT is not a device that observes detailed anatomical shapes, such as CT or MRI, but an image that shows a strong signal of cancer and can easily produce a VRT image. These VRT images can be expressed three-dimensionally so that the general public can easily understand them, so communication between medical staff and patients can be improved more efficiently, and it is expected that the patient's "right to know" will be satisfied.
