Anticoagulant Activities of Brown Seaweed Extracts in Korea (국내산 주요 갈조류 추출물의 항혈액응고 활성)

  • Effects of extraction conditions and molecular fractionation on anticoagulant activities of major brown seaweeds in Korea were investigated. Hot water extracts of C. costata, U. pinnatifida (Sporophyte), L. japonica, K. crassifolia, E. stolonifera, E. bicyclis, S. horneri, and E. kurome increaced activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) over 190 seconds, which may be related to intrinsic pathway of blood coagulation. Hot water extract of E. Kurome (EKJ) was further fractionated by ethanol precipitation. EKJ-eim, ethanol-insoluble material of EKJ, showed higher anticoagulant activity than EKJ. EKJ-eim was further fractioned with ultrafiltration. EKJ-eim 1, (over 100 kDa) fraction showed higher APTT activity than EKJ-eim. A EKJ-eim 1 was sulfated polysaccharide consisting of fucose, xylose, mannose, galactose, glucose and, sulfate at molar ratio of 1 : 0.05 : 0.10 : 0.15 : 0.17 : 1.46. The anticoagulant activity increased as sulfate content and molecular weight increased.

  • 금속을 용해 응고시킬 때 생성되는 소위, 주조 결함이나 소결금속 내의 기공은 재료의 성능이나 강도를 현저하게 낮추는 결함으로서 예전부터 기피되어 왔다. 또한, 재료공정에 있어서도 여하의 기공이나 기포가 없는 치밀한 고강도 및 고기능성 재료를 개발하는 것에 최대한의 주의와 관심을 기울여 왔다. 반면에 자연계의 천연물이나 인공물을 둘러보면 그 대부분이 다공질임을 쉽게 눈치챌 수 있다. 예를 들어 목재, 지엽 등의 생물을 시작해서 콘크리트 등의 인공물, 우리 체내의 뼈도 전형적인 다공질구조로 구성되어 있다. 이러한 구조로부터 재료의 재질제어 이외에 구조제어라는 새로운 어프로치를 고려할 수 있고, 최근 들어, 금속재료에 있어서도 이러한 다공질 구조에 관한 연구가 활성화되어 충격흡수재, 생체재료, 베어링재료 등의 다양한 응용이 전개되고 있다. 원주상의 방향성 기공을 갖는 로터스 금속의 제조 원리는 용융금속의 높은 가스용해도와 고체금속의 낮은 가스고용도의 차이를 이용하여 응고할 때 고용되지 않는 가스원자가 기포를 형성시키는 것이다. 수소용해도는 모든 금속에 있어서 온도상승에 따라 증가하지만 융점에 있어서 용해도의 불연속적 증가를 나타내며 응고할 때 고액계면에서 다량의 가스를 방출하고 기공 생성을 야기한다. 특히, 고 액상에 있어서 수소용해도 차가 큰 마그네슘, 니켈, 철, 동 등은 기포를 생성하기 쉽다. 또한 기공의 배열구조를 제어하기 위해 일방향응고법를 이용하여 기공에 방향성을 부여한다. 외관상 기공구조가 연근뿌리를 닮은 것으로 부터 로터스 금속이라는 명칭이 널리 알려져 있다. 이와 같은 제조방법에 의해 로터스 금속은 기공 방향, 기공크기, 기공률을 자유롭게 제어할 수 있고 우수한 기계적 성질이 기존의 발포금속, 소결금속과 전혀 다른 특성을 가지고 있다. 이러한 기공구조는 용해온도, 응고속도, 분위기 가스압, 불활성가스와의 혼합체적비 등의 제어를 통해서 조절할 수 있다. 이와 같이 제조한 방향성 다공질금속은 BT (인플란트, 생체적합성, 저탄성, 경량), ST (초음속기엔진부품, 경량), IT (고성능수냉모듈), ET(고온촉매, 필터)의 분야로의 응용을 기대한다.

Establishment of Konjac Manufacturing Process and Optimum Storage Conditions at Room Temperature (곤약의 제조공정 및 최적 저장조건 확립)

  • The manufacturing process for konjac jelly is largely divided into the three processes of powder manufacturing, a coagulation and finishing. It was found that the number of aerobic bacteria in konjac jelly decreases as the concentration of coagulation agent and soaking liquid increases. The temperature of the water has no significant effect. When the concentration of coagulation agent was maintained at 1.0%, the tensile strength was also maintained without significant change for up to 10 months. When the concentration was kept below 0.8%, however, the tensile strength showed a tendency to sharply decrease. After fixing the coagulant concentration to 1.0%, the effect by the soaking liquid was confirmed. At all concentrations of soaking, it was found that both tensile strength and bacterial numbers are unchanged until 10 months of storage.

  • Rheological properties of micronized full-fat soyflour (MFS ) milk were determined according to solid content, heat-treatment and type of coagulants. Heat-treated MFS milk showed a pseudoplastic flow pattern. The consistency and flow index of heated MFS milk was greatly affected by increasing the concentration of MFS and/or soy protein isolate (SPI). Apparent viscosity of MFS milk was gradually decreased by heating below 6$0^{\circ}C$, but was drastically increased by raising temperature further. Addition of coagulants and SPI resulted in dropping the temperature that allows to increase apparent viscosity drastically. A coagulant for MFS tofu was formulated based on the gelling Property of a single coagulant. The textural properties of MFS tofu were improved using 7.1% total protein fortified with SPI.

Effects of Natural Convection on Macrosegregation of Directionally Solidified Off-Eutectic Composites (공정복합재료의 일방향응고시 용질편석에 미치는 자연대류의 영향)

  • Natural convection in bridgman growth and it's effect on macrosegregation in unidirectionally solidified off-eutectic alloys were examined in this study. AlCu off-eutectic alloys(27.5wt% ~35. 6wt% ) were solidified upward or downward for producing a different natural convection and then Cu concentrations of off-eutectic composites were measured as a function of solidified fraction. Solutal and temperature distributions ahead of the solid/liquid interface were measured on quenched specimen. When hypo-utectic AlCu alloys are directionally solidified with downward growth, considerable macrosegregation occurs due to flow induced by thermal and solutal convection in melt. Soultal convection affects the macrosegregation of hyper-eutectic AlCu alloys more severely than thermal convection. Solute composition at solid/liquid interface of offkutectic composites was eutectic and also temperature was near eutectic point without large undercooling.

  • 본 연구에서는 제철, 제강공정에서 많이 사용하고 있는 C22FR1.4형의 주형을 상사적으로 축소시킨 주철제(GC25) 주형에 순알루미늄(순도99%)의 주물을 용입하여 응고 및 냉각 과정의 주물 및 주철제 주형에 미치는 열의 영향에 관하여 2차원 비정상 열전도 문제를 경계요소법으로 해석하고 실험을 통하여 검증하였다.

  • The solidification rate is of special importance in determining the casting structures and properties. The heat transfer characteristics at the interface between the mold and the casting is one of the major factors that control the solidification rate. The thermal resistance exists due to the air-gap formation at the mold/casting interface during the freezing process. In this study two-dimensional Stefan problem with air-gap resistance in the rectangular mold is considered and the heat transfer characteristics is numerically examined by using the enthalpy method. The effects of the major parameters, such as mold geometry, thermal conductivity, heat transfer coefficient, and initial temperature of casting, on the thermal characteristics are investigated.

Effect of Casting Temperature and Speed on Formation of Surface Defect in Al-8Zn-2Mg-2Cu Billets Fabricated by Direct-Chill Casting Process (수직 연속주조 공정으로 제조된 Al-8Zn-2Mg-2Cu 빌렛의 표면 결함 형성에 미치는 주조 온도와 주조 속도의 영향)

  • 7000-series aluminum alloys are noted for their superior strength compared with other Al alloys, and their billets are generally fabricated by direct-chill (DC) casting. Surface defects in a DC-cast aluminum billet are mainly related to exudation and the meniscus freezing phenomenon, which are influenced by alloy compositions, casting speed, and casting temperature. 7000-series aluminum alloys have a wide freezing range during solidification, which makes it easy for casting defects to occur. In this study, we investigated surface defect evolution in casting billets of Al-8Zn-2Mg-2Cu alloy fabricated by a DC casting process. The billets showed "wavy" or "dotted" surfaces. The wavy surface was formed by meniscus freezing at a lower casting speed (200 mm/min) and temperature (655 ℃). In the wavy surface, refined dendritic cells were observed in a concave region due to the constitutional supercooling caused by meniscus freezing. Meanwhile, at a higher casting temperature (675 ℃), the dotted surface was formed by pore formation. In the dotted surfaces in the billet formed at a high casting speed (230 mm/min), an exudation layer was formed by the high metallostatic head pressure. The dotted region and the smooth region had a refined dendritic morphology and a columnar morphology at the exudation layer, respectively. This is attributed to the formation of gas pores in the dotted region.

Coprecipitation Characteristics of Cheese Whey and Soybean Proteins (유청(乳淸)과 대두 단백질(蛋白質)의 공동침전(共同沈殿) 특성(特性))

  • As a way of utilizing cheese whey to fortify sulfur-bearing amino acids to soybean protein, whey-soybean coagulum was made from whey-soy milk mixture and optimum conditions for coprecipitation of the two proteins were determined. Mixture of whey and soymilk in 1 : 1 volume ratio was coagulated at $0.005{\sim}0.5M$ of $CaCl_2$ concentration, pH $1.5{\sim}8.0$, and at $60{\sim}100^{\circ}C$, and absorbance at 500nm of filtrate from the coagulum was measured. Optimum conditions for the coprecipitation were 0.0125M of $CaCl_2$ concentration, pH $6.5\sim7.5$, and $70{\sim}80^{\circ}C$ which resulted in the minimum absorbance and also good physical properties of the curd.
