  • 압전식 충격파 쇄석기를 사용하여 대상물을 파쇄하는 과정에서 발생하는 음의 특성을 조사한 결과, 대상물이 파쇄됨에 따라 방사음이 더욱 저주파대로 이동한다는 사실을 알았다. 이 사실을 입증하기 위하여 대상물의 파쇄상태를 모델링한 대상물을 사용한 실험에서는 동일한 결과를 관측할 수 있었다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 실험적으로 추정된 연구결과를 이론적으로 확인하기 위하여 유한요소법을 이용한 수치 시뮬레이션을 실험과 유사하게 모델링한 대상물에 실행하였고, 시뮬레이션에서 관측된 결과를 제시하여 대상 연구결과의 유효성을 입증하였다.

  • Underwater acoustic transducers are widely used for SONAR application, whose important design parameters are shapes. materials, dimensions and supporting structures. Practical design method of transducers consists of manufacturing, experiments and modifications so that it requires much time and expenses. In this study, an analytical method was developed for the Tonpilz type transducers using the commercial finite element analysis code ATILA which can solve the electro-mechanical coupling problems. A finite element model was established including the transducer elements such as ceramic stack, head mass, tail mass, tensile bolt, and molding layers. The proposed model was verified and modified by comparing the in-air and in-water test results of prototypes. The developed analysis method will be effectively used for the sensitivity analysis of design parameters in transducer design process.

  • 현재까지 초음파 모터는 소형 경량이면서도 저속에서 큰 출력을 가지며 정확한 위치 제어가 가능하다는 점에서 큰 관심을 끌고 있다. 대부분 회전형 로우터리 모터가 주종을 이루고 있으며 특수한 용도로 초음파 리니어 모터가 일부 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 진행파를 이용하여 쌍방향으로 움직일 수 있는 새로운 구조의 진행파형 초음파 리니어 모터를 설계하고 제작하였다. 설계는 유한요소해석법을 이용하여 구조의 가능성과 진행파가 왜곡되지 않는 최적구조, 계질, 크기, 경계조건을 결정하였다. 그 결과에 따라 리니어 모터를 실제로 제작하여 알루미늄판 위에서 주파수 변화 및 부하질량 변화에 대한 모터의 성능을 측정하였는데, 제작된 모터는 부하질량이 100 g일 때 14.6cm/s로 가장 빠른 속도특성을 보였다. 본 모터는 다양한 정밀위치제어 및 이동 소자로서 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • This paper describes design and fabrication of a new bi-directional ultrasonic linear motor working by means of a traveling wave. With the finite element method, we design and verify validity of the new structure, and determine its optimal structure, material, size, and boundary conditions for proper generation of the traveling wave. Based on the results, a prototype of the motor has been fabricated and characterized, which thereby proves practical applicability of the new structure.

  • 본 연구에서는 원활한 정재파 생성과 양방향 구동이 가능한 새로운 형태의 초음파 리니어 모터를 제작하고, 그 특성을 평가하였다 본 연구에서 제안한 모터는 $\lambda/4$ 간격으로 이빨 구조를 가지는 스테이터의 상, 하부에 압전소자를 $90^\circ$ 의 위치 위상차를 갖도록 부착한 형태의, 상, 하부 압전소자에 각각 동위상, 180도의 시간 위상차를 가지는 교류 전압을 인가함으로써 양방향 구동이 가능하도록 하였다. 또한 원활한 정재파를 생성할 수 있는 최적의 구조를 결정하기 위해, 여러 가지 형태의 경계조건들에 대해 유한요소해석법을 이용하여 모델링하여 각 이빨들의 변위를 관찰함으로써 각각의 구조에 대해 타당성을 검증하였다. 위 결과를 바탕으로 세 종류의 초음파 리니어 모터를 제작하여 구동실험을 하였고, 실험 결과에 따라 속도와 추력 및 양방항성이 가장 우수한 최적의 구조를 결정하였다. 본 연구에서 제작한 모터는 최대 82.4cm/s의 속도와 0.46N의 추력을 가졌다.

  • The intake noise, a major source of vehicle noises, has rapidly become a noticeable, and has been studied to reduce the level. Traditionally, the intake system has been developed through a experiment, namely, the trial and error process. This approach requires very high cost and long time consuming to develop the systm. Recently, FEM and BEM are becoming useful in analysis of the intake system, and the results of analysis are very valid. But because this techniques also require high cost and long analysis time, this technique is generally not practical tool at the early stage of the development. In this study, the software was developed to predict and analyze the acoustic characteristics of the intake system. It was based on the Transfer Matrix Method and operated to analyze a simplified intake system in a personal computer. It can be used early in the design stage of development of the intake system. This study presented a improvement to reduce the level of the intake noise, which modified the specification of the intake system. And the improvement were verified by NIT/SYSNOISE, FE analysis commercial software, and testing a prototype.

Low frequency sound absorption improvement in refrigerator using multi perforated plate (다공판을 활용한 냉장고 저주파 흡음개선)

  • In this study, the multi perforated plate is used to reduce the compressor noise in the low frequency band inside the refrigerator machine room. To predict the sound absorption results, the impedance of the sound absorption material is measured. Using the measured impedance results, it is confirmed that the results used for FEM analysis is almost similar to the experimental values. The sound-absorbing structure that can operate in the target frequency band inside the refrigerator machine room is designed by controlling the hole diameter and arrangement in the perforated plate. The effect of reducing noise in the low frequency band is confirmed by applying perforated plate-based sound absorbing structures to the machine room.

  • In this paper, the resonant characteristic of a Tonpilz transducer with a fixed tail mass has been researched and the feasibility to utilize the transducer in that resonant frequency has been analyzed. The additional resonance is occurred by adhering an elastic tube to the tail mass of a conventional Tonpilz transducer and fixing the other end of the tube. The characteristic of this low resonant mode is analyzed by means of the finite element method, then it is shown that this mode is affected by the variation of the stiffness of the tube as well as the mass of the head mass and tail mass. Based on the analysis results, the Tonpilz transducer is designed to meet specific performance conditions.

Design of piezoelectric micro-machined ultrasonic transducer for wideband ultasonic radiation in air (공기 중 광대역 초음파 방사용 압전 박막 기반 초소형 초음파 트랜스듀서의 설계)

  • In this paper, the design of piezoelectric Micro-machined Ultrasonic Transducer (pMUT) for wideband ultrasonic radiation in air was investigated. One of the methods to achieve wide frequency bandwidth in single device is modeling the transducer to multi-resonance system. The new pMUT was designed as a multi-resonance system with the addition of a suitable acoustic structure to the front and back of a thin film structure. A new pMUT consisting of thin film parts, radiation parts, and packaging parts is designed with a Lumped Parameter Model (L.P.M). Finally, it was validated as a Finite Element Method (FEM) simulation. The final designed pMUT achieved a frequency band of 102 kHz ~ 132 kHz (-3 dB).
