Estimation of Sound Pressure from Vibration Signals on a Flat Plate and Experiment (진동 신호를 이용한 평판의 음압 분포 예측)

  • 진동하는 구조물의 음향 방사 예측에는 키르히호프-헬름홀쯔 적분 방정식에 근본을 둔 경계 요소 해석이 널리 사용된다. 이 경계 요소 해석은 익히 알고 있듯이 구조물의 동적 거동이 정량적으로 표현될 수 있는 경우는 매우 높은 정확도의 예측 결과를 제공한다. 그러나 실제 현상에서 접할 수 있는 복잡한 구조물의 음향 방사 예측에는 많은 변수들로 인해 예측의 정확도가 감소됨은 확실하다. 다른 방법으로는 실험을 통한 임의의 음장 예측 방법인 근음장 음향 홀로그래피(nearfield acoustical holography) 방법을 들 수 있다. 이 방법은 실제로 발생되는 음향 방사로부터 마이크로폰을 이용하여 홀로그램면의 음압 또는 속도를 측정하고 키르히호프-헬름홀쯔 적분 방정식에 적용하여 임의의 홀로그램면에 투사(mapping)시켜 음장을 예측하는 방법이다. 근음장 음향 홀로그래피는 탁월한 정확성을 갖고 있으나, 측정의 복잡성과 홀로그램면을 형성하기 위한 많은 이산점(절점)의 필요성 등의 단점을 갖고 있다. 본 논문에서는 또 다른 음장 예측 방법인 실험의 장점과 유한 요소 해석의 장정을 복합시킨 모드 확장 방법(modal expansion method)을 사용하여 단순 구조물인 평판의 진동에 의한 음장을 예측해 보았다. 모드 확장 방법은 구조물의 동적 거동은 모드의 선형 조합으로 표현될 수 있다는 것에 그 원리를 둔다. 본 논문은 단순 평판을 대상으로 유한 요소 해석으로 구한 모드 정보와 실험에 의해 얻은 입의 가진 주파수에 대한 진동 표면의 속도 분포를 조합하여 속도 경계 조건을 구성, 경계 요소 해석으로 음장 예측을 수행하였으며 모드 확장 방법을 사용함에 있어 고려해야할 몇 가지 사항에 대해 다루었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 단일모드 광섬유의 intrinsic birefringence 와 파라데이회전에 대한 이론적 해석을 하였다. 분석과정에서 단일모드 광섬유는 선형지연기로 모델링하였으며 측정결과 intrinsic birefringence 는 약 1.4rad/m로 나타났다. 그리고 자계의 영향에 의한 빛의 편광상태 변화에 대한 이론적 해석을 하 였다.

  • 터보팬엔진등에서 발생하는 음장의 특징은 지배적인 음향모드 구조를 가진다는 점이다. 이러한 구조를 파악 해내는 것은 소음원을 찾아내고 그 소음원의 전파를 규명하여 소음을 저감하는데 중요한 기여를 할 수 있다. 음향모드의 검출을 위해서 많은 연구가 이루어져 왔으며 센서의 이용방식에 따라 원음장에서의 측정법, 회전형 갈퀴 (rotating rake)를 이용한 측정법, 덕트내 벽면에 센서를 분포시키는 측정법으로 나눌 수 있다. 이중 벽면에 센서를 위치시키는 방법은 다른 방법에 비해 빠르게 측정결과를 얻을 수 있으며 측정장치가 간단하다는 장점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존에 이 방법의 단점으로 여겨져 왔던 많은 수의 센서를 줄이는 새로운 센서 배치에 대해 기술하였으며 측정하고자 하는 주파수에 존재하는 전체 모드의 개수와 비교하여 최소한의 센서 개수를 설명하였다.

Characteristics Control of a Thickness Mode Piezoelectric Vibrator Using a Negative Impedance Converter Circuit (부임피던스 변환회로를 이용한 두께 모드 압전 진동자의 특성제어)

  • In this paper, a Negative Impedance Converter (NIC) circuit was employed for the electro-mechanical characteristic control of a thickness mode piezoelectric vibrator. Two circular plane piezoelectric vibrators were bonded together and the NIC circuit was connected to one of the vibrators. The theoretical and experimental analysis of the characteristics shown that the quality factor and the electro-acoustic efficiency of the vibrator with the NIC circuit could be improved by 20 times and 2.5 times, respectively.

Comparison of Sound Spectrums of Pyeonjong Remains at the King Sejong Memorial Museum and Pyeonjong Replica (세종대왕기념관의 유물 편종과 현대 편종의 음향 스펙트럼 비교)

  • This study compared the sound spectrums of pyeonjong remains and pyeonjong replica to investigate tuning ways of bells. pyeonjong remains, exhibited at King Sejong Memorial Museum and pyeonjong replica, played at the National Center for Korean Traditional Performance Arts were analyzed. To get mode frequencies and mode shapes, pyeonjong replicas' sound spectrums were analyzed and modal analyses by TV holography were performed. Also pyeonjong remains' sound spectrum were analyzed. Nominal frequencies on the pyeonjong replica and remains showed differences in a range between 9.8 cent and 203 cent. Two facts were inferred as causes of the differences, the tuning conditions of pyeonjong remains were not good and C4 in western tempered scale was preferred as the sound standard of Kukak, whangjong. Relative ratio of higher mode frequencies to the nominal frequencies were calculated to figure out tonal differences between two pyeonjongs. The differences in relative ratio of higher mode frequencies except (3,0)a and (3,0)b modes were significants as well as beyond the just noticeable difference. These results implied that the tonal differences between two pyeonjongs could exist. More pyeonjong remains are needed to be investigated to confirm this result in addition to the analyses of alloy components and bell structure of pyeonjong remains and replica.

  • A linear acoustic analysis for baffled rocket combustion chambers has been developed. This study provides the comprehensive theoretical background for the baffle as one of the stabilizing devices in a liquid rocket propulsion system. Several specific effects of baffles are presented as mechanisms by which baffles eliminate instability. Included are longitudinalization of transverse waves inside baffle compartments, severe restriction of velocity fluctuations near the injector face, and decreased normal mode frequency of the chamber.

  • This paper deals with the process of obtaining sound transmission loss of a cylindrical silencer lined with multi-layered poroelastic sound absorbing materials. The Biot model and the Johnson-Champoux-Allard-Lafarge (JCAL) model were used to deal with waves propagating in multi-layered poroelastic materials. The boundary conditions required for analysis of the silencer were obtained and the numerical process of finding modes was explained. A numerical experiment was conducted on the 2-layered silencer using the modes and the transmission loss converged with the first 12 modes. Finally, the mode matching method proposed in this research was validated by being compared with the results calculated from Finite Element Method (FEM) about different kinds of sound absorbing materials.

  • The interaction between a vibrating structure and a surrounding acoustic medium determines the acoustic power propagating into the far-field. A straightforward method to reduce the radiated power is to reduce the vibration of the structure. However it is more efficient to control the modes of the structure separately since each vibration mode of the structure has different radiation efficiency. An efficient method to reduce the sound radiation in the low frequency region is proposed by reducing the radiation efficiency of the structure. Numerical simulations are carried out for a simply-supported beam in which the feed-forward control is applied to reduce the volume velocity of each structural mode. This method is found to be very efficient in reducing low frequency sound radiation.

  • A polarized mode convertible, wavelength tunable optical filters with acoustic barriers and acousto-optic effect have been produced in LiNb03 substrate utilizing the Ti double diffusion technique. Polarization conversion in excess of 81 % and a spectral width of -200 kHz (-1.83 nm) were achieved at a wavelength of 1551.6 nm and RF frequencies of 173.07 kHz and 173.05 kHz for both transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (lM) input polarizations, respectively. The electrical driving power was 10.97 mW and reduced to about 10% of one for an optical filter without an acoustic barrier. A linear tuning rate of 8.2 nmlMHz and sidelobe intensity of -4 dB was demonstrated. rated.

Beat Control Method Using the Finite Element Analysis of an Equivalent Ring (등가 링의 유한요소해석을 이용한 맥놀이 조절법)

  • In this study, beat control method using an equivalent ring model is proposed to control beat period of a slightly asymmetric ring. Slight asymmetry in a ring generates mode pair and the interaction of the mode pair makes beat in vibration and sound. In a ring, as a simplified bell type structure, mode data are measured and an equivalent ring is determined so that the measured mode condition is satisfied. By the finite element analysis on the equivalent ring, changes of mode pair condition are predicted when local mass is attached or the local thickness is decreased. The predicted results are compared with the experimental result and the validity of the proposed method is verified.
