Prediction of the Acoustic Performance of a Music Hall Considering the Radiation Characteristics of Korean Traditional Musical Sources (국악음원의 방사특성을 고려한 국악원의 음향 성능 예측)

  • There have been always some difficulties in target setting and conditioning of acoustic performances of the Korean traditional music hall due mainly to the lack of the information on the sound radiation characteristics of Korean musical sources. In this study, the radiation characteristics of four typical Korean traditional musical sources were investigated in precision and their usage was demonstrated: The selected musical sources were Gayageum (string), Daegeum (woodwind), Jango (drum), and Pansori Chang (vocal performance). Each sound source was located at the center of a semi-anechoic chamber and the directivity was determined by the measured sound pressure levels in every 10° angular position, for both vertical and horizontal directions. The directivity pattern of Gayageum varies from a uniform to a complex pattern having many side lobes with the increase of frequency. The main radiation of Daegeum is toward the upward direction. The directivity pattern of Jango is clearly a side-oriented one and the left direction intensity is sharper than its right side at low frequencies. For the Chang, the directivity pattern change from a uniform pattern to a frontally directed one as the frequency goes high. Measured directional and spectral characteristics of traditional Korean music sources were implemented into the computation of architectural acoustic measures for the Busan National Korean Traditional Music Hall which is under construction. Parameters such as RT, SPL, C80, IE, STI were calculated at two receiver positions by using a ray tracing technique. Significant differences in the acoustic measures at receiver positions were observed between the results in using the omni-directional source and the directional one. It is thought that the suggested source data and design method can be used as a basic reference in the future acoustic design of performance halls for the Korean traditional music.

  • 음속 기울기가 부(-)의 약한 상태와 강한상태에 있는 천해의 두 해역에서 단일주파수의 지향성 음원과 광대역 충격음원 두 종류에 의하여 측정을 하였다. 음파가 처음 해저에 부딪치는 가까운 거리에 서의 Reverberation 은 ray tracing 에 의하여 입사각에 따라 power spectrum analyzer에 의하여 분석 되었으며 원거리의 경우 이론 모델로 계산된 값과 비교되었다. 이 때의 산란은 지향성에 산란상수 -24dB였다. 또한 산란강도는 주파수의 증가에 따라 완만한 증가를 나타내었다.

Simple Estimation of Sound Source Directivity in Diffused Acoustic Field: Numerical Simulation (확산음향장에서의 음원 지향성 간이추정: 수치시뮬레이션)

  • The directivity of an underwater sound source should be measured in an acoustically open field such as a calm sea or lake, or an anechoic water tank facility. However, technical difficulties arise when practically implementing this in open fields. Signal processing-based techniques such as a sound intensity method and near-field acoustic holography have been adopted to overcome the problem, but these are inefficient in terms of acquisition and maintenance costs. This study established a simple directivity estimation technique with data acquisition, filtering, and analysis tools. A numerical simulation based on an acoustic radiosity method showed that the technique is practicable for sound source directivity estimation in a diffused reverberant acoustic field like a reverberant water tank.

  • 지향성 스피커는 초음파를 이용하여 소리에 직진성을 부여하여 특정 방향으로만 소리를 전달할 수 있다. 이러한 지향성 스피커는 초음파의 직진성 때문에 소리를 청취함에 있어 일반 스피커와 달리 전달감이 풍부하지 못하다는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 청취자에게 음원이 전달되는 과정을 모델링한 머리전달함수를 사용한다. 지향성 스피커를 통하여 방사되는 음원에 머리전달함수를 전처리하여 전달감을 개선한다.

  • This paper carried out numerical calculation about the directivity synthesis problem in two dimension of adaptive ultrasonic transducers. Adaptive system for directivity synthesis is constructed by multi-electrode array on the surface of only one piezoelectric ceramic plate combined with optimal algorithm. In order to realize the desired directivity that is established arbitrarily, the optimal vibrational displacement is calculated by optimal algorithm (DFP method). Secondly, the optimal voltage of electrodes which is correspond to the calculated vibrational displacement is calculated used by finite element method and DFP method. And, the vibration analysis in two dimension of piezoelectric transducer carried out by means of finite element method.

Nonlinear Sound Amplification and Directivity Due to Underwater Bubbles (수중 기포에 의한 비선형 음파의 증폭과 지향성)

  • Since a bubble in water is a highly nonlinear acoustic scatterer, the acoustic scattered waves from underwater bubbles show highly nonlinear acoustic properties. These acoustic scattered waves can be observed at the second or higher harmonics as well as at the fundamental primary frequency of incident acoustic wave. When two primary acoustic waves of different frequencies are incident on a bubble, the acoustic scattered waves can be also observed at the sum and the difference frequencies of the primary waves. In this study, when the two primary acoustic waves were incident on a bubble screen in water, we observed that the amplitude of difference frequency wave was amplified by the bubble nonlinearity and its directivity was oriented in the propagation directions of primary waves. The directivity of scattered difference frequency wave was analyzed as a coherent scattering for virtual source by using the directivity of the primary acoustic wave.

  • A numerical simulation is carried out on the directivity synthesis of ultrasonic transducers by point source array. Gauss elimination method is practiced by means of a directive method to realize the desired directivity. Desired directivity is chosen to be that of a directivity of line source, a beam width and a direction arbitrary specified. On the numerical result, Gauss elimination method is showed high speed ca- lculative simulation and stability of system more than iterative method(LMS, DFP). Numerical simulations are carried out by PC(CPU:80486 DX2, RAM 16Mbyte).

Optimal Directivity Synthesis of Ultrasonic Transducers Using a Combined Algorithm (조합 알고리즘에 의한 초음파 트랜스듀서의 최적 지향성합성)

  • In this paper, we proposed an algorithm that used a direct method to set an initial value of Broydon-Fletcher-Goldfarb-Shanno(BFGS) method and, accordingly, conducted an experiment in optimal directivity synthesis of adaptive ultrasonic transducer by point source array. To certify the efficiency of this method, quasi-ideal beam with arbitrary beam width, rotating beam, and multi beam, all with the limited side lobe level -30dB, were chosen to check the problem of directivity synthesis that was formed by point source array in the second dimensional sound field. The numerical calculation results showed that the proposed method performed the directivity synthesis faster than the BFGS method did. In addition, the proposed method showed a good error correction for directivity synthesis, and did not demand the choice of initial value. Finally, it is also shown that the proposed method can be used for the adaptive control that was not possible with the direct method alone.

  • 근거리음장 측정으로부터 원거리음장을 예측할 수 있는 이론적 모델 및 실험적 연구가 수행되고 있다. 본 논문에서 채택한 방법은 Helmholtz 적분식의 간단한 모델로써 단일주파수 코히어런트 음원의 근거리측정음장으로부터 원거리음장 예측이 가능한 기술이다. 이러한 단일 주파수, 코히어런트 음원의 원거리 수평방향지향성을 예측하기 위한 모델식 및 무향실에서 수행한 검증실험 결과를 소개한다 제안된 방법은 일반 소음원은 물론 잠수함 등의 수평방향 지향성의 예측에 적용가능하다고 판단된다.

  • 음파의 비선형 현상을 통해 수행되는 파라메트릭 송파 방식을 공기 중에서의 음향 변환기에 적용시키기 위해 비교적 공진 주파수가 낮은 기중 초음파 발생 소자들을 배열시켜 기중 지향성 음원을 제작하였다. 이 송파기를 이용하여 비선형 왜곡이 발생함을 알아보기 위하여 2kHz의 차주파수를 갖도록 37.12kHz와 39.12kHz의 메인 주파수 음파를 신호발생기로부터 인가하고 이를 방사한 후 마이크로폰을 통해 수신하였다. 공기 중에서의 파라메트릭 효과의 확인을 통하여 파라메트릭 송파기에서 방사되는 메인 주파수 음파와 전파 경로 중에서 생성되는 차주파수 음파의 거동을 고찰하고, 실험 결과로부터 기중 파라메트릭 송파기 개발의 가능성을 검토하여 보았다.
