A Study on the Automatic Howling Signal Detection Algorithm for Speech Sound Reinforcement (음성 확성을 위한 하울링 신호 자동 검출기법 연구)

  • 음향 시스템에 있어서 하울링 현상은 음성 레벨을 제한함으로써 음성의 명료도를 저하시키는 주된 요인이다. 그리고 이를 해결하기 위한 방법으로 하울링 주파수 대역의 게인을 낮추어 음향신호의 피드백을 최소화 하는 것이 일반적이기 때문에 하울링 주파수를 찾아내는 것이 하울링 제어에 있어서 가장 핵심적인 요소가 된다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 하울링 주파수를 자동으로 검출할 수 있는 기법을 제시하였다. 이는 외부로부터 입력된 오디오신호가 하울링 신호 특성을 만족하는 정도를 ‘하울링 지수’라는 파라메터로 정의한 후 이를 기준으로 하울링 발생여부를 판단하고 하울링으로 판별된 신호의 최대 진폭을 갖는 주파수를 하울링 주파수로 출력하는 기법이다. 본 하울링 신호 자동 검출기법의 내용을 검증하기 위하여 하울링 자동 검출 프로그램을 제작하여 실험을 수행한 결과 전체 하울링 신호의 95% 이상을 검출할 수 있었다.

Comparison of Speech Intelligibility & Performance of Speech Recognition in Real Driving Environments (자동차 주행 환경에서의 음성 전달 명료도와 음성 인식 성능 비교)

  • The normal transmission characteristics of sound are hardly obtained due to the various noises and structural factors in a running car environment. It is due to the channel distortion of the original source sound recorded by microphones, and it seriously degrades the performance of the speech recognition in real driving environments. In this paper we analyze the degree of intelligibility under the various sound distortion environments by channels according to driving speed with respect to speech transmission index(STI) and compare the STI with rates of speech recognition. We examine the correlation between measures of intelligibility depending on sound pick-up patterns and performance in speech recognition. Thereby we consider the optimal location of a microphone in single channel environment. In experimentation we find that high correlation is obtained between STI and rates of speech recognition.

  • The speech intelligibility is one of the most important factors in communication system. The speech intelligibility is related with speech to noise ratio. To enhance the speech to noise ratio, background noise reduction techniques are being developed. As a part of solution to noise reduction, this paper introduces directional microphone using beamforming method and speech filtering method. The directional microphone narrows the spatial range of processing signal into the direction of the target speech signal. The noise signal located in the same direction with speech still remains in the processing signal. To sort this mixed signal into speech and noise, as a following step, a speech-filtering method is applied to pick up only the speech signal from the processed signal. The speech filtering method is based on the characteristics of speech signal itself. The combined directional microphone and speech filtering method gives enhanced performance to speech intelligibility in communication system.

  • 본 논문에서는 무제한 음성 생성을 위한 단위음성으로서의 다이폰을 2음절 자연음성으로부터 자동 추출하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 입력음성을 개량 켑스트럼 파라미터로 분석하여 이로부터 다이폰 추출 파라미터들을 도출한다. 제안된 파라미터로는 에너지 레벨을 나타내는 0차 켑스트럼의 동적변화량, 스펙트럼의 시간 변화량 영교차율, 캡스트럼의 유클리디안 거리이다. 스펙트럼 포락의 변화가 완만한 모음 연쇄등의 음소 경계를 보다 효율적으로 검출하기 위해 스펙트럼의 시간 변화를 미세부분과 개형부분으로 나누어 각각을 파라미터로 사용한다. VV(모음연쇄), VCV(C: 반모음, 자음), VCCV형들로 이루어진 2음절 단어들에 대해 실험한 결과, 모음연쇄 등이 포함되어 있음에도 약 85% 정확도의 음소경계검출을 얻었다. 본 논문에 의한 다이폰을 이용한 합성음의 청취실험 결과 명료도가 높음을 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, we were carried out experiments to apply parameter of voice analysis to measure changing characteristic articulator according to inhale the helium gas. The helium gas was used to overcome air embolism nitrogen gas to deal a fatal blow in body nitrogen gas by diver. However, the helium gas has been much trouble interpretation about abnormal voice of diver to cause squeaky voice of low articulation. Therefor, we was carried out experiments about pitch and spectrogram measurement, analysis based on to influence in acoustic organs before and after of inhaled helium gas.

  • The present study was conducted as a pilot investigation to suggest the standards of acoustic performance for classrooms suitable for incomplete hearing people such as children under 9 years of age. Subjective evaluations such as questionnaire and speech intelligibility test were conducted to 264 students at two elementary schools in Cheong-ju in order to analyze the characteristics of the listening environment in the classrooms of the lower grades in elementary school. The survey was undertaken with a total of 264 students at two elementary schools in Cheong-ju, and investigated their satisfaction with the classroom listening environment. As a result, students responded that the most helpful information type for understanding class content is the voice of teacher. In addition, the volume of the current teacher's voice is normal, and the level of clarity is highly satisfactory. As for the acoustic performance of the classroom, the opinion that the noise was normal and the reverberation was very short was found to be dominant in overall satisfaction with the listening environment. Meanwhile, as a result of speech intelligibility test using the word list selected for the lower grade students of elementary school, it could be inferred that the longitudinal axis distance from the sound source in the case of 8-year-olds is a factor that affects speech recognition.

  • Tn the analysis of the audio signal characteristices and the codebook indices of LD-CELP, there are many cases of detecting codebook indices that are used previous. LD-CELP algorithm achives good quality of audio because it has analyzed a short term of audio signal. In spite of these advantage, the method has a drawback in which searching time of best codebook index inclose due to a complicated calculation for codebook index. This paper is proposed to decreasing the searching time of codebook index using a searching memory. As a simulation of the proposed method, searching time for codebook index is reduced 3.2%-11.7% as compared with LD-CELP.

Towards better acoustic conditions in school buildings in Korea-a need for Korean standard for classroom acoustics (국내 교육시설의 음향기준 제정의 필요성 제고)

  • This paper describes the acoustical conditions of elementary school and high school classrooms as well as university classrooms in Korea and suggests a need for Korean acoustic standards and guidelines for classroom design. Current standards and guidelines of classroom acoustics in several countries were briefly introduced to understand their acoustical performance criteria for background noise levels and reverberation times, and noise isolation design requirements in various types of classrooms. The results of several acoustic survey of domestic classrooms in elementary school, high school, and university were described and compared to provide information of the acoustic characteristics of Korean school classrooms. The survey includes occupied and unoccupied data on the acoustical conditions, noise levels, and noise isolation performance in the classrooms. Acoustical parameter values for achieving 'good' speech intelligibility in active university classrooms were also presented.

  • This study investigated how the location of sound absorptive materials and sound diffusers affects the acoustic performance of small auditoriums. It was conducted for a standard model established with the averaged dimension of 36 auditoriums which had opened since 2000 in Daehak-ro, Seoul. In this study, the installation area of finishing materials was calculated upon a back wall which had the smallest installation effective area of finishing materials. To analyze the changes of acoustic performance according to installation location of finishing materials, experiments were carried out using the 1/10 down scale models for 8 cases which were made by classifying the installation location of ceiling and side wall into the front, middle and rear part.The used acoustic parameters were reverberation time (RT), early decay time (EDT), clarity (C80), definition (D50) and speech transmission index (STI). In result, the index related to the amount of reverberant sound (RT, EDT) showed the great changes when evaluating it through just noticeable difference (JND), but the one related to clarity (C80, D50, STI) hardly indicated the changes. In case to obtain short reverberation time, it was most effective to control reverberation time through the side walls when installing sound absorptive and diffusive materials, and side wall front was the location which could get the shortest reverberation time.
