In this study, as a basic study to use recycled limestone powder as a secondary product mixture for concrete, it was found that the compressive and flexural strengths were equal to or slightly improved compared to Plain up to 10% and 20% of the RLP mixing ratio, but the strength was rather decreased at 30% mixing. As a result of the heat of hydration experiment, as the RLP mixing rate increased, the heat of hydration decreased, and the elapsed time of the maximum heat was also delayed. As a result of the drying shrinkage test, as the fine powder RLP filled the internal pores of the cement mortar, the drying shrinkage decreased as the mixing rate increased. The compressive strength, water absorption rate, and compressive strength after freezing and thawing of the concrete block mixed with RLP 20% all satisfied the group standard criteria of the Korea Concrete Industry Cooperative Federation, confirming the possibility of use as a mixed material.

The performance of high-early strength pavement concrete for large areas is influenced by the physical and chemical environment during service life. Generally, penetration, diffusion, and absorption of harmful materials that exist outside the concrete cause damage to its structure. Thus, we have to use a mixture for durability to keep the required quality for the planned service life. Moreover, in using high-early-strength cement and accelerators, a high heat of hydration to create the initial strength can cause cracks. Based on evaluations from optimal mix proportions of high-early-strength pavement concrete for large areas, we conducted water permeability, abrasion resistance, freeze-thaw, plastic, drying, and autogenous shrinkage tests. Test result showed that a mix of accelerator and PVA fibers showed excellent performance.

This paper evaluates the mechanical properties and durability of cement matrix blended with mineral admixtures and ferronickel slag(FNS) powder which is an industrial b y-product during ferronickel smelting process. The hydration heat, pore structure, compressive strength, length change, rapid chloride penetration test(RCPT), and freezing and thawing resistance of ternary blended cement matrix were investigated and compared with ordinary portland cement matrix. The result showed that the compressive strength of ternary blended cement matrix using ferronickel slag powder and mineral mixture was low in strength compared to the reference concrete, but recovered to a certain extent by using alkali activator. Length change of cement mortar using FNS powder have shown less shrinkage occurs than the reference specimen. In addition, irrespective of using the alkali-activators, all ternary mix are indicative of the 'very low' range for chloride ion penetrability according to the ASTM C 1202, and the freeze-thaw resistance also showed excellent results.
In order to evaluate the applicability of steel slag aggregates for tetrapod concrete, the properties of concrete as structural material were investigated. The biochemical research of marine concrete using steel slag aggregates was also carried out. The tested concrete properties are slump, ai content, compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, elastic modulus, carbonation, hydration heat, freezing and thawing, sulfate attack, drying shrinkage, etc. The biochemical experiments are carried to research the propagation and reproduction of seaweeds and survival of bottom dwelling species. According to this experiment results, the steel slag aggregate content did not have a significant effect on compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and elastic modulus. The durability of concrete was not influenced by the steel slag aggregate content. From the biochemical research, steel slag aggregate can be evaluated as the material that is ideally suited for promoting propagation and reproduction of seaweeds and sessile benthos.
Recently, with concentrated social and engineering interests on durability, diversified subsequent researches have been progressed. The Chloride-induced corrosion, carbonation, freeze-thaw etc, deterioration factors of concrete act to concrete not privately but complexly, Fly ash is most frequently used admixture which is using a reduction method of deterioration. And the fly ash effects on improvement of durability with enhancement of fluidity, decrease of crack with reduction of hydration heat, promotion of long-age strength and have a economic advantage which replaces cement as a binding material. But, fly ash have different qualities and occasionally reduce the durability and strength by adhesion of AE admixture with unburned carbon powder etc. In this study, the experiments will take about various replacement ratio of fly ash concrete, and will analyze, consider the results, after these will verify applicability and validity as admixture and binding material.

Objective: To investigate effects of cryoprotectant and cryopreservation on the chromosome of the human immature oocytes. Design: Intact cumulus-enclosed immature oocytes were collected from unstimulated ovaries and divided into three groups, such as no treatment as control (group 1), only 1,2-propanediol (PROH)-treated (group 2), and cryopreserved oocytes (group 3). Oocytes in group 1, 2, and survived oocytes after cryopreservation in group 3 were cultured for 48 hours. Setting: Infertility Medical Center at the CHA General Hospital, Seoul, Korea. Patients: Oocytes were obtained from Patients undergoing gynecological surgery. Main Outcome Measures: Maturation rate, abnormality in chromosomes by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). Results: There was no effect of PROH only treatment on the chromosomal abnormalities in group 2 compared to control oocytes (41.4% and 31.8%, respectively). Whereas significantly increased abnormalities in chromosome (77.8%) were found in group 3. Conclusions: Human oocytes matured in vitro after cryopreservation at the germinal vesicle (GV) stage showed increased incidence of chromosomal abnormalities. These abnormalities may impair the capacity for further development of the embryos derived from frozen-thawed oocytes.

By studying the characteristics of matrix insulated through heat generated through oxidation of iron powder, the basic research results on the possibility of buffering and applicability of Cold weather concrete as a curing method are presented. In order to prevent freezing due to a sharp decrease in temperature in the initial stage of curing, iron powder (Fe), powder activated carbon, which is a small amount of porous carbonaceous adsorbent, and salt (NaCl) as an oxidizing agent are replaced with iron powder admixture. As the curing temperature increases, the strength tends to increase, and when replacing the admixture at the same curing temperature, the strength slightly decreases. This is determined as a result of generating iron oxide through an oxidation reaction of iron powder, activated carbon, and NaCl generating a large amount of pores in the matrix. In addition, the internal temperature tends to increase as the mixing substitution rate increases, and it is judged that the oxidation heat of the iron powder mixture affects the increase of the internal temperature during curing. The higher the replacement rate of the iron powder mixture, the slightly lower the strength, but it is determined that freezing and melting that may occur in the early stage of curing can be prevented due to an increase in the initial internal temperature.

Recent popularity in mobile electronics requires higher standard on the mechanical strength of electronic packaging. Thus, the method of soldering between chip and substrate in electronic packaging process is changing from conventional method using intermetallic compound to a new method using organic solderability preservatives (OSP) in order to improve the stability and the reliability of final product. Since current OSPs have several serious problems like thermo-stability during packaging process, however, it is necessary to develop new OSPs having thermo-stability. The main purpose of this study is to develop various thermo-stable OSPs based upon poly(vinyl pyridine-co- methylmethacrylate) and to evaluate their anti-oxidation property protecting Cu pad, thermo-stability and solubility to acid- or alcohol-containing aqueous solution during pos-fluxing. All OSPs showed not only good anti-oxidation property, thermo-stability and solubility but also more advantages like low cost, less odor, and less hygroscopic.

This study is to analyze the contents related to 'state of water', 'state change of water', and 'conditions of state change' in K-12 science textbooks. For this, we analyzed textbooks based on the 5th kindergarten curriculum, the 6th elementary school science curriculum and the 6th middle school science curriculum. Findings show that some of the contents are designed well by topical sequencing or by spiral sequencing. But others have some problems based on topical sequencing and spiral sequencing. Generally, the contents are represented in the order of Perception of phenomena with senses level, Macroscopic understanding level, Understanding of scientific term level, Microscopic understanding level by grade. But the state change contents related to solidification and melting, and conditions of state change contents related to heat, temperature, wind, and humidity are not represented in the level of Microscopic understanding. The contents of state change and conditions related to heat and wind are not represented in the level of scientific term also.

GGBFS(Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag) has been widely used in concrete for its excellent resistance chloride and chemical attack, however cracks due to hydration heat and dry shrinkage are reported. In many International Standards, GGBFS with low fineness of 3,000 grade is classified for wide commercialization and crack control. In this paper, the mechanical and durability performance of concrete were investigated through two mix proportions; One (BS) has 50% of w/b(water to binder) ratio and 60% replacement ratio with low-fineness GGBFS, and the other (TS) has 50% of w/b and 60% replacement ratio with 4000 grade and FA (Fly Ash). The strength difference between TS and BS concrete was not great from 3 day to 91 day of age, and BS showed excellent performance for chloride diffusion and carbonation resistance. Two mixtures also indicate a high durability index (more than 90.0) for freezing-thawing since they contain sufficient air content. Through improvement of strength in low fineness GGBFS concrete at early age, mass concrete with low hydration heat and high durability can be manufactured.
