  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the types of ethics, professional intuition, and ethical competencies of students majoring in dental hygiene and to provide appropriate dental hygiene education by confirming the relationship between them. Methods: A survey was conducted from March 2 to March 30, 2021 using a questionnaire, and the data were analyzed using chi-square test, one-way analysis of variance, and Pearson's correlation analysis. Results: Regarding the ethics type, absolutists accounted for 36.1%, relativists for 33.8%, subjective for 16.5%, and exceptionalists for 13.5% of the respondents. Dental hygiene professional intuition scored 3.53 points, and ethical competence scored 3.52 points. The points for professional intuition and ethical competence according to the type of ethics were 3.64 and 3.61 for the absolutist, 3.55 and 3.53 for the relativist, 3.47 and 3.53 for the exceptionalist, and 3.27 and 3.37 for the subjective, respectively. The propensity of idealism showed a positive correlation with dental hygiene professional intuition and ethical competence (p<0.001). The tendency of relativism correlated with ethical competence, and ethical competence correlated with dental hygiene professional intuition (p<0.05). Conclusions: The implication of this study is that students majoring in dental hygiene must have clear and high dental hygiene professional intuition and ethical competence in order to demonstrate their potential positively. Therefore, ethics education and proper decision-making training must be included in the dental hygiene curriculum.

  • Consumers' favorable attitude toward ethical brands, and the rise of ethical consumers, is a recent global trend. Nevertheless, prior studies have emerged that favoring ethical products does not necessarily lead to consumers' purchase. Focusing on this, authors attempted to explore what perceptions of the brand lead to purchase behavior. Three experiments were conducted for this purpose. Results are as follows. First, even in ethical products, consumers choose the product when it is perceived as more ethical. This tendency has been shown for both eco-friendly type and donation type products. Second, when there was no noticeable difference in ethicality, ethical consumers consider brand reputation as an important factor in choice. Third, results remains regardless of consumer individual characteristics (consumer altruism, conspicuousness). Note that, unexpectedly, the underdog effect was not observed among altruistic consumers. Several implications, limitations of research, and suggestions for future research were discussed.

  • Although organizations are given various benefits with information technologies, they sometimes have suffered fatal damages due to information security incidents now such as computer virus, hacking, counterfeiting, plagiarizing, etc. The fundamentalcauses of information security incidents are closely related to individuals who do not comply with information security policy or rules. The spontaneous self-control of individuals and monitoring for individuals could be the most essential solution for the ongoing observance of information security policy. Thus, the purpose of this study is to analyze effects of punishment and ethics training on compliance of information security policy of individuals in organizations, to determine individual divide among security propensity depending on organization types, and to find the more fundamental solution which leads change of organizational members’ behaviors and self-control. Regardless of the type of organizations, the results of the study suggest that there exist positive effects of punishment and ethics training in all types of organization on compliance of information security rules or regulations. A member of unitary form organization has higher cognition of punishment than a member's cognition of the multi-divisional form organization, while relatively lower awareness of ethics training. Also, a member of public organization has higher awareness of ethics training than a member’s awareness of private organization, while lower cognition of punishment. Finally, the result shows that punishment and ethics training may be major factors which affect information security. It also suggests that organizational security managers have to understand and consider organization member’s propensity relying on organization form and organization characteristics for establishment and enforcement of information security policy.

  • The crisis of moral-ethical school subject is related to the scientific identity of moral education in Korean society. Because it's identity hasn't been established yet exactly. At past time 'National Ethics' included not only moral education, but also anti-Communist education and education of political ideology or propaganda. The scientific foundation of ethical education is on ethics, and it is a branch of philosophy. But to escape this fact, some scholars relating with ethical education claimed to need 'interdisciplinary approach' to ethical subject. As a result, they allowed other department to give their certificates. Futhermore it is at a crisis to be integrated into social subject. Philosophy as scientific origin of ethics has already not interdisciplinary character but the idea of integrated science. So there is no necessity for finding another scientific foundation. Now following the original goal of ethical education, they try to train the ability of moral judgement to solve various moral problems rationally, and to cultivate moral disposition that can practice the ideal and principles of life.

  • Recently, there has been a change in consumer culture. The paradigm is changing from a consumption model that used to emphasize rationality to an ethical consumption model that focuses on sustainability. Such a change in consumption patterns has also been seen in the cosmetics industry, but studies to empirically assess this trend are incomplete. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to empirically identify the impact of ethical consumption proprieties on attitudes and purchasing intentions for ethical cosmetics. To achieve the aim of this study, 506 adult women residing in Korea were selected as subjects and surveyed. To identify the demographic characteristics of the study participants, a technical statistical analysis and frequency analysis were conducted. To check the validity and reliability of the measuring tools, an exploratory factor analysis was performed, and the Cronbach's α factor was calculated. The analysis method was analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 and the Amos 25.0 statistical analysis programs. The results of this study are as follows. First, ethical spending tendencies had a positive impact on attitudes toward ethical cosmetics. Specifically, interest in ethical issues, altruism, and business ethics perception have had a positive impact on attitudes toward ethical cosmetics. However, consumer effectiveness had no significant impact on attitudes toward ethical cosmetics. Second, attitudes toward ethical cosmetics had a positive effect on purchasing intentions. This study found that for the spread of ethical cosmetics and ethical consumption trends varied according to the age and that attitudes toward ethical cosmetics and differences in purchasing intentions should be kept in mind. It also showed that attitudes toward ethical cosmetics affect purchasing intentions. The results of this study suggested that the analysis of adult women, the main consumers of cosmetics, by age was meaningful for finding the factors for growth in the macroscopic ethical cosmetics industry and that the industry could raise its ethical awareness. If such tasks are systematically established, ethical cosmetics are thought to be able to actively solve social problems and lead a mature cosmetics industry.
