  • Purpose : To quantify the inter-fractional variation in prostate displacement and their dosimetric effects for prostate cancer treatment. Materials and Methods : A total of 176 daily cone-beam CT (CBCT) sets acquired for 6 prostate cancer patients treated with volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) were retrospectively reviewed. For each patient, the planning CT (pCT) was registered to each daily CBCT by aligning the bony anatomy. The prostate, rectum, and bladder were delineated on daily CBCT, and the contours of these organs in the pCT were copied to the daily CBCT. The concordance of prostate displacement, deformation, and size variation between pCT and daily CBCT was evaluated using the Dice similarity coefficient (DSC). Results : The mean volume of prostate was 37.2 cm3 in the initial pCT, and the variation was around ${\pm}5%$ during the entire course of treatment for all patients. The mean DSC was 89.9%, ranging from 70% to 100% for prostate displacement. Although the volume change of bladder and rectum per treatment fraction did not show any correlation with the value of DSC (r=-0.084, p=0.268 and r=-0.162, p=0.032, respectively), a decrease in the DSC value was observed with increasing volume change of the bladder and rectum (r=-0.230,p=0.049 and r=-0.240,p=0.020, respectively). Conclusion : Consistency of the volume of the bladder and rectum cannot guarantee the accuracy of the treatment. Our results suggest that patient setup with the registration between the pCT and daily CBCT should be considered aligning soft tissue.

  • An image retrieval system based on image content is a key issue for building and managing large multimedia database, such as art galleries and museums, trademarks and copyrights, and picture archiving and communication system. Therefore, the interest on the subject of content-based image retrieval has been greatly increased for the last few years. This paper proposes a feature-based image retrieval technique which uses a compound feature vector representing both of color and shape of an image. Color information for the feature vector is obtained using the algebraic moment of each pixel of an image based on the property of regional color distribution. Shape information for the feature vector is obtained using the Improved Moment Invariant(IMI) which reduces the quantity of computation and increases retrieval efficiency. In the preprocessing phase for extracting shape feature, we transform a color image into a gray image. Since we make use of the modified DCT algorithm, it is implemented easily and can extract contour in real time. As an experiment, we have compared our method with previous methods using a database consisting of 150 automobile images, and the results of the experiment have shown that our method has the better performance on retrieval effectiveness.

  • Sumi-e is one of the art work that uses not only ink line but also color painting. This technique is well known as a representative Asian painting style and widely used in movie, advertisement poster and various effect in camera device. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that can generate result image with Sumi-e effects of example image based on computer graphics and image processing techniques. For this, we pass two steps. The first is painting expression step. We used texture transfer technique to generate result with texture effect of reference image by analyzing numerically. The second step is ink-painting effect generation step. We express ink-painting effect in outline by considering intensity variation in edge of example image. Our algorithm can express various Sumi-e style based on selected reference image. So it can be utilized to various contents generating research.

  • In this paper, we propose the digital video frame obfuscation method for intellectual property protection using the DC component of the intra frame and the motion vector of the inter frame at digital video encoding. The proposed method considers characteristics of the HVS (human visual system) which is sensitive at the low frequency and the middle frequency. This method makes the signal distorted as operating XOR between authentication signal and the DC coefficient of the intra frame including main information and the sign of the motion vector including edge motion, so that the video is normally displayed only when suitable authentication signal is applied.

  • This paper proposes a hand-posture recognition method using reinforcement learning for the performance improvement of vision-based hand-posture recognition. The difficulties in vision-based hand-posture recognition lie in viewing direction dependency and self-occlusion problem due to the high degree-of-freedom of human hand. General approaches to deal with these problems include multiple camera approach and methods of limiting the relative angle between cameras and the user's hand. In the case of using multiple cameras, however, fusion techniques to induce the final decision should be considered. Limiting the angle of user's hand restricts the user's freedom. The proposed method combines angular features and appearance features to describe hand-postures by a two-layered data structure and reinforcement learning. The validity of the proposed method is evaluated by appling it to the hand-posture recognition system using three cameras.

  • In this paper, we concentrate on an efficient method to decrease a lot of pixel data to be processed with an Image transform based automatic lipreading It is reported that the image transform based approach, which obtains a compressed representation of the speaker's mouth, results in superior lipreading performance than the lip contour based approach But this approach produces so many feature parameters of the lip that has much data and requires much computation time for recognition To reduce the data to be computed, we propose a simple method folding at the vertical center of the lip-image based on the symmetry of the lip In addition, the principal component analysis(PCA) is used for fast algorithm and HMM word recognition results are reported The proposed method reduces the number of the feature parameters at $22{\sim}47%$ and improves hidden Markov model(HMM)word recognition rates at $2{\sim}3%$, using the folded lip-image compared with the normal method using $16{\times}16$ lip-image.

  • A number of video indexing and retrieval algorithms have been proposed to manage large video databases efficiently. The video similarity measure is one of most important technical factor for video content management system. In this paper, we propose the luminance characteristics model to measure the video similarity efficiently. Most algorithms for video indexing have been commonly used histograms, edges, or motion features, whereas in this paper, the proposed algorithm is employed an efficient similarity measure using the luminance projection. To index the video sequences effectively and to reduce the computational complexity, we calculate video similarity using the key frames extracted by the cumulative measure, and compare the set of key frames using the modified Hausdorff distance. Experimental results show that the proposed luminance projection model yields the remarkable improved accuracy and performance than the conventional algorithm such as the histogram comparison method, with the low computational complexity.

  • This paper presents multipurpose watermarking scheme in coutourlet transform domain for copyright protection, authentication and transform detection. Since contourlet transform can detect more multi direction edge and smooth contour than wavelet transform, the proposed scheme embeds multi watermarks in contourlet domain based on 4-level Laplacian pyramid and 2-level directional filter bank. In the first stage of the robust watermarking scheme for copyright protection, we generates the sequence of circle patterns according to watermark bits and projects these patterns into the average of magnitude coefficients of high frequency directional subbands. Then the watermark bit is embedded into variance distribution of the projected magnitude coefficients. In the second stage that is the semi-fragile watermarking scheme for authentication and transform detection, we embed the binary watermark image in the low frequency subband of higher level by using adaptive quantization modulation scheme. From the evaluation experiment using Checkmark 2.1, we verified that the proposed scheme is superior to the conventional scheme in a view of the robustness and the invisibility.

  • We present new methods which transfer the color style of a source image into an arbitrary given reference image. Misidentification problem of color cause wrong indexing in low saturation. Therefore, the proposed method do indexing after Image separating chromatic and achromatic color from saturation. The proposed method is composed of the following four steps : In the first step, Image separate chromatic and achromatic color from saturation using threshold. In the second step, image of separation do indexing using cylindrical metric. In the third step, the number and positional dispersion of pixel decide the order of priority for each index color. And average and standard deviation of each index color be calculated. In the final step, color be transferred in Lab color space, and post processing to removal noise and pseudo-contour. Experimental results show that the proposed method is effective on indexing and color transfer.
