As Industry-University Cooperation (IUC) has been emphasized for securing national competitiveness in a knowledge-based economy, the South Korean government has promoted related policies, including a financial support program for facilitating IUC activities. This study examines the effects of Leaders in INdustry-university Cooperation (LINC) program, which is one of the government financial support programs for IUC, on the performance of IUC by propensity score matching. The results show that LINC program positively influences the number of technology transfers and the number of faculty that participated in start-ups. The results of this study are expected to provide implications for improving IUC policies and the financial support program.

The techno-park built-up project of Korea had begun in order to support regional enterprises since 1997. The number of techno-parks increased from 6 in 1997 to 17 in 2009 with various enterprise supporting services such as a new enterprise breeding, pilot production, and education and training. By way of renewing regional innovation promoting system, revising technopark law, and starting second step techno-park project, techno-parks have become centers for regional technology innovation, and cultivation of regional technology-based companies. Alternative policies for the development of techno-park projects are as follows: revitalizing the network among enterprises, universities, research institutes, and government; strengthening the ability to draw up projects in nurturing regional industry; and the establishment of fixed channels to support SME in the region.

Overseas advanced countries are aware of the importance of research equipment and are providing a lot of policy support to revitalize the research equipment industry. However, Korea does not have any law to support policies or related projects to revitalize the research equipment industry. Therefore, there is an urgent need for legislation to support policies and projects for revitalizing research equipment industry. It is considered necessary to establish a separate special law for revitalizing the research equipment industry so that it can gain competitiveness in the global market of the research equipment industry. As we have seen, the necessary articles in the relevant laws should be specified so that various promotion policies can be developed to foster the research equipment industry. In order to promote the development of research equipment industry, there are three essential items to be specified in the law. First is research and development support, second is infrastructure development, and third is business incubation. The following contents should be included in each contents. First of all, "research and development support" includes research and envelopment project promotion and support policy items, research equipment development trends and investment trends, joint research between industry, academia, And research and development support for fusion, hybrid and commercialization. Next, the items to be included in "infrastructure development" should include the establishment of research equipment clusters, related support items, training of professional manpower, and research equipment development base area and institutions. Finally, the items that should be included in "business incubation." include support matters for the development of excellent companies (priority purchase system, etc.), matters related to technology transfer and marketing, matters concerning the protection of intellectual property, And matters for promoting overseas expansion.

Zea mays, known as maize or corn, is a major staple crop and an important source of energy for humans and animals, thus ensuring global food security. Approximately 9.4% of the loss of total annual corn production is caused by pathogens including fungi, bacteria, and viruses, resulting in economic losses. Although the use of fungicides is one of the most common strategies to control corn diseases, the frequent use of fungicides causes various health problems in humans and animals. In order to overcome this problem, an eco-friendly control strategy has recently emerged as an alternative way. One such eco-friendly control strategy is the use of beneficial microorganisms in the control of plant pathogens. The beneficial microorganisms can control the plant pathogens in various ways, such as spatial competition with plant pathogens, inhibition of fungal or bacterial growth via the production of secondary metabolites or antibiotics, and direct attack to plant pathogens via enzyme activity. Here, we reviewed microorganisms as biocontrol agents against corn diseases.
