하이브리드 화학증기증착법을 이용한 금속기판 위 그래핀의 저온합성

  • 그래핀(Graphene)은 한 겹(layer)의 2차원 판상 구조에 탄소원자들이 육각형의 기본 형태로 배열되어 있는 나노재료로서, 우수한 역학적 강도와 화학적, 열적 안정성 및 흥미로운 전기 전자적 성질을 가지고 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 최근, 이러한 특징적이고도 우수한 물성으로 인하여 기초물성 연구에서부터 차세대 응용까지 고려한 각종 연구들이 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 일반적으로 그래핀을 얻는 방법에는 물리 화학적 박리, 열화학증기증착법(TCVD), 탄화규소의 흑연화, 흑연산화물의 환원 등의 방법들이 알려져 있다. 그 중 TCVD법이 두께의 균일성이 높은 그래핀을 합성하는데 가장 적절한 것으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 TCVD법은 탄소를 포함하는 원료가스를 분해하기 위하여 고온의 공정을 필요로 하게 되지만, 향후 산업적 응용을 고려한다면 대면적 그래핀의 저온합성법 개발은 풀어야 할 시급한 과제로 인식되고 있다. 현재는 메탄을 원료가스로 사용하여 $900^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 그래핀을 합성하는 추세이고, 최근 아세틸렌등의 활성원료가스를 이용하여 $900^{\circ}C$ 이하에서 저온 합성한 연구결과들도 속속 보고되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 고주파 플라즈마를 이용하여 비교적 저온에서 탄소원료가스를 효율적으로 분해하고, 확산플라즈마 영역에 TCVD 챔버를 결합한 하이브리드 화학증기증착법을 이용하여 그래핀의 저온합성을 도모하였다. 원료가스로는 메탄을 사용하였고, 기판으로는 전자빔증착법으로 증착한 니켈 박막 및 구리포일을 사용하였다. 실험결과, 그래핀은 $600^{\circ}C$ 부근의 저온에서도 수 층으로 이루어진 그래핀이 합성된 것을 확인하였다. 합성한 그래핀은 분석의 용이함 및 향후 다양한 응용을 위하여 실리콘산화막 및 투명고분자 기판 위에 전사(transfer)하였다. 합성된 그래핀의 구조평가를 위해서는 광학현미경과 Raman분광기를 주로 사용하였으며, 원자힘현미경(AFM), 주사전자현미경(SEM), 투과전자현미경(TEM) 등도 이용하였다.

Morphological characterization of Vibrio alginolyticus specific bacteriophage isolated from fish farms on west coast of Korea (서해안 양식장에서 분리한 Vibrio alginolyticus의 특이 bacteriophage에 대한 구조적 특성)

  • Vibrio alginolyticus (V. alginolyticus), which is one of bacterial pathogens evoking severe infection in fish and shellfish as well as in human has been found at high frequency around all coast areas in Korea. Both V. alginolyticus and V. alginolyticus specific bacteriophage were isolated from sea water and various fishes from fish farms on west coast in Korea. In a morphological study based on electron microscope, the purified phage appeared to be composed of hexagon head of 60 nm and short tail of 20 nm. In the denatured SDS-PAGE analysis, the structural proteins of the phage were found to be 7 different protein fractions ranging from 37.8 to 198 kda. The kind of nucleic acid of the phage was ascertained to a double stranded DNA.

Mineralogical and Morphological Changes of Biotite in a Soil-Sarprolite Profile Developed Under Temperature Climate (온난기후하에서 발달된 토양-세프로라이트내의 흑운모의 광물학적 및 형태의 변화)

  • Potassium (K) released from weathering of biotite in soils has been recognized as one of major K-sources for plant growth. Sand size biotite in a soil-saprolite-parent rock profile developed under temperate climate was studied in terms of morphological, mineralogical, and chemical changes according to depth employing petrographic and electron microscopes. X-ray diffraction, and electron microprobe. Biotite showed discoloring from black to goldish white and loss paleochroism with decreasing depth. Both edge and layer weatherings of biotite showed in this study. Hexagonal holes and cracks on (001) plane of weathered biotite grains were observed and their members increased with increasing weathering degree. Biotite was altered to kaolinite with or without intermidiate products such as hydrobiotite, degraded biotite, and illite. Average chemical composition of weathered biotite changed to that of katolinite with decreasing depth: increasing concentrations of silicon (Si) and aluminum (Al) and decreasing concentrations of potassium (K), iron (Fe), magnesium (Mg), manganese (Mn), and taitanium (Ti).

  • In this paper, we propose an approach to design a practical filter and a mathematical modeling for images. In the areas of signal processing, including high-dimensional image processing, the filtering process has been fundamental and crucial in diverse practical applications such as image processing, computer vision, and pattern recognition. In general, the ideal filter is modeled as circular-shaped in the 2D frequency domain as the rectangular shape is ideal for the 1D frequency domain. This paper proposes an approach to modeling practical and efficient image filter in the 2D frequency domain. Instead of employing a circular-shaped filter, this study proposes a polygon-shaped filter inspired by the concept of a hexagon cellular system for frequency reuse in wireless communication systems. By employing the concept of frequency reuse, bandwidth efficiency is also achieved in the frequency domain. To substantiate the proposed approach, quantitative evaluation is performed using PSNR.

Numerical Analysis of Concentration Polarization for Spacer Configuration in Plate Type Membrane Module (평판형 분리막 모듈 내 스페이서 형태에 따른 농도분극에 관한 수치해석)

  • As the spacer in the membrane module provide the channel space to flow the feed solution smoothly and induce the flow turbulence, it could help to reduce both the concentration polarization and to take the long-term operation of membrane modules with high permeate flux by mixing the accumulated contaminants on the membrane surface into the bulk solution. In this study, the concentration distribution in membrane module with respect to the spacers which have the cross-sectional shapes of circle, cross, diamond and hexagon, the angles of spacer configuration, solute rejection and permeate flux were interpreted and optimized numerically using the "COMSOL Multiphysics" software. The concentration on the membrane surface was kept the lowest level for the cross-shape among the above four types of spacers. Also the 30 degree spacer configuration was showed as the most efficient case. The concentrations on the membrane surface at the module outlet for without spacer and the cross shape with the 30 degree spacer configuration were 2.09 and 1.29 times higher than those at inlet, respectively. The reduction effect of concentration polarization increased rapidly as the permeate flux increased.

Recent Advances in Covalent Triazine Framework based Separation Membranes (공유결합 트리아진 구조체 기반 분리막의 최근 발전)

  • As a branch of covalent organic frameworks (COF), covalent triazine frameworks (CTF) are inherently porous structures composed of networks of repeating hexagonal triazine rings fabricated via the ionothermal trimerization reaction. They also contain plenty of nitrogen functional groups that increase affinity for some chemicals while rejecting others. Because of their tunable properties, many researchers have synthesized and tested CTFs for gas and liquid separation processes. Various studies of novel CTFs, mixed CTF composites, and CTF membranes have experimented for gas adsorption/separation (e.g., CO2, C2H2, H2, etc.) and desalination. Some CTF studies have determined the limits and potentials through advanced computer simulations while subsequent experiments have tested CTFs for photocatalytic properties, suggesting recyclability for greater sustainability. In this review, the covalent triazine framework-based separation membrane is discussed.

Characteristics of Static Buckling Load of the Hexagonal Spatial Truss Models using Timber (목재를 이용한 육각형 공간 트러스 모델의 정적좌굴하중 특성)

  • In this paper, the instability of the domed spatial truss structure using wood and the characteristics of the buckling critical load were studied. Hexagonal space truss was adopted as the model to be analyzed, and two boundary conditions were considered. In the first case, the deformation of the inclined member is only considered, and in the second case, the deformation of the horizontal member is also considered. The materials of the model adopted in this paper are steel and timbers, and the considered timbers are spruce, pine, and larch. Here, the inelastic properties of the material are not considered. The instability of the target structure was observed through non-linear incremental analysis, and the buckling critical load was calculated through the singularities and eigenvalues of the tangential stiffness matrix at each incremental step. From the analysis results, in the example of the boundary condition considering only the inclined member, the critical buckling load was lower when using timber than when using steel, and the critical buckling load was determined according to the modulus of elasticity of timber. In the case of boundary conditions considering the effect of the horizontal member, using a mixture of steel and timber case had a lower buckling critical load than the steel case. But, the result showed that it was more effective in structural stability than only timber was used.

Stability Assessment of Tunnel Excavation Face Utilizing Characteristics of Collapse Cases (터널 시공현장 붕괴 사례를 이용한 막장의 안정성 평가 연구)

  • While shield tunneling has demonstrated stability in international cases, the new Austrian tunneling method (NATM) encounters challenges in urban environments with shallow cover, weathered ground, and high groundwater levels. This paper introduces two typical collapse scenarios observed in urban areas, specifically within weathered bedrock and uncemented sandy soil layers. The collapses are analyzed using six stability evaluation methods, and the results are synthesized to assess the excavation face stability through a hexagonal diagram. The study finds a consistent agreement between the analysis results of the two collapsed tunnel sites and the evaluation outcomes. The employment of the stability evaluation diagram, a comprehensive method that considers the ground characteristics of the target tunnel, proves crucial for ensuring barrier stability during the tunnel design stage. This method is essential for a holistic evaluation, especially when addressing challenging ground conditions in urban settings.

A Study on Patch Antenna for C-ITS with Rectangle Slot (직사각형 슬롯을 갖는 C-ITS용 패치 안테나에 대한 연구)

  • This paper is a study on a triangle patch antenna using a rectangle slot and strip conductor. The length and spacing of the slot were adjusted to confirm the characteristics of the triangle patch antenna with rectangle slot, and the area and shape of the radiation patch were changed to triangle, rectangle, and hexagon for impedance matching. The HFSS simulator was used to check the antenna parameter characteristics, and the antenna size was 26 mm ×26 mm. In this proposed antenna, the simulation frequency range with VSWR of 2 or less was 5.27 to 6.24 GHz. The bandwidth was 970 MHz. The frequency range of the fabricated antenna was 5.24 to 6.38 GHz, and the bandwidth 1140 MHz. The maximum radiation gain is 5.01 dBi. It was confirmed that all radiation patterns had directional characteristics.

PMMA와 TRT전사을 이용한 그래핀의 전기적 특성 비교

  • 육각형 구조를 지닌 2차원의 물질인 그래핀은 우수한 전도도와 투과율로 투명전극의 신소재로 각광 받고 있다. 특히, 그래핀은 현재 투명전극으로 가장 많이 사용되고 있는 Indium Tin Oxide(ITO)로는 구현하기 힘든 Flexible display의 어플리케이션으로 사용하기 위한 목적으로 많은 기술 개발이 이루어지고 있다. 이러한 그래핀의 응용은 가장 먼저 그래핀의 생산이 안정적이고 원활히 이루어질 때 실질적으로 가능할 것이다. 하지만, 탄소로 이루어진 그래핀의 성장은 제한된 기판 위에서만 가능하기 때문에 성장이 이루어진 그래핀을 다른 기판에 전사시켜야하는 문제점이 있다. 그래핀 전사방법에는 직접전사, PMMA 전사, TRT 전사, 금속전사, 망전사, PDMS 전사 등 다양한 방법이 있다. 이 중에서 현재 가장 많이 사용되고 있는 전사방법으로는 직접전사, PMMA 전사, TRT 전사 방법이 있다. 직접전사의 경우 니켈위에 성장된 다층의 그래핀을 전사시킬 때 많이 사용되는 방법으로 니켈 에천트에 전사 시킬 그래핀을 띄워 니켈을 녹인 후 원하는 기판을 이용하여 전사하는 간단한 방법이다. 직접전사는 전사가 이루어진 후 그래핀에 남는 결함이 거의 존재 하지 않는 장점이 있지만 문제점은 단일층의 그래핀의 경우 니켈 에천트위에서 잘 보이지 않을 뿐 아니라 에천트에서 기판으로 전사할 때 너무 얇은 막으로 인해 다 찢어져버린다는 것이다. 이를 해결하기 위해 사용되는 전사 방법으로 TRT를 이용하여 구리위에 성장된 그래핀을 상온 시에는 점성을 가진 테이프를 이용해 부치고 구리에 천트에 구리를 녹인 후 원하는 기판위에 놓고 열을 가해 그래핀을 전사하는 방법이 있다. TRT 전사방법은 얇은 막의 그래핀을 찢어지지 않도록 지지해주어 대면적 기판위에도 전사 할 수 있는 장점이 있지만 전사 후 그래핀에 남아 있는 잔여물들이 많고(그림 1. (b)), 테이프를 이용한다는 점에서 그래핀의 얇은 막이 손상될 수 있는 단점이 있다. 그렇기 때문에 본 연구에서는 직접전사와 TRT전사의 문제점들인 전사 후 잔여물와 그래핀 단일층의 손상을 최소화할 수 있는 방법으로 PMMA전사를 가장 적합한 전사방법이라는 것을 라만 분석, 면 저항측정, 그래핀을 이용한 LED제작을 통해서 살펴 보았다. 먼저 라만 분석을 이용해 TRT전사 후 상당히 많은 빈 공간이 생김을 확인할 수 있었으며, 결과적으로 면 저항이 약 $1.5k{\Omega}$~$3M{\Omega}$까지 PMMA의 약 0.9~1.2 $k{\Omega}$와 비교했을 때 큰 차이가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 이후 각각의 전사방법으로 얻은 그래핀을 LED의 스프레딩 층으로 제작한 결과에서도 TRT전사방법보다 PMMA전사방법의 결과가 좋음을 알 수 있었다(그림 2).
