Effects of Emulsifiers on the Quality Characteristics of Yackwa (유화제가 약과의 품질에 미치는 효과)

  • This study was conducted to examine the effect of emulsifiers on the quality characteristics of Yackwa. Lecithin and various sucrose fatty acid esters (S-570, S-970, S-1570) were used as emulsifiers. The addition of emulsifiers to Yackwa decreased the hardness, cohesiveness, springiness and gumminess, but increased the brittleness. This tendency was most distinct by the addition of S-970. All sensory characteristics of Yackwa such as color, smooth surface, smell, internal layer formation, softness and overall quality, were improved greatly by the addition of emulsifiers. As a result, the mechanical and sensory characteristics of Yackwa were improved by the addition of the emulsifiers, and sucrose fatty acid esters showed better results than lecithin.

  • O/W/O(oil in water in oil)형 유화액막에 의한 2성분 탄화수소 혼합물인 toluene-cyclo hexane의 분리에 있어서 투과율, 막의 안정성과 분리계수에 미치는 영향을 계면활성제 농도, emulsion과 용매와의 교반속도 등을 변수로 하여 실험하였다. 계면활성제의 농도가 증가함에 따라 투과율은 증가하는데 0.5wt% 이상에서는 증가율이 둔화 되었다. 막 파괴율은 0.1wt%에서 가장 낮게 나타났으며, 그 이상에서는 농도가 증가하면서 파괴율도 증가하였다. 또한 분리계수는 계면활성제의 농도가 0.5wt%에서 가장 높게 나타났다. 에멀젼 제조 시 교반속도 변화에서는 투과율이나 막 파괴율에 큰 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 막 강화제의 농도가 증가함에 따라 투과율은 감소하였고, 에멀젼과 용매의 접촉 시 교반속도가 증가 할수록 막 파괴율도 증가하였다.

  • The effect of some surfactants, such as tween 40, tween 80, span 80, and triethanolamine, on the absorption of lidocaine was studied using goldfish as a model of absorption kinetics. This model was believed that reciprocal overturn time and death time were the occurrence of biological effect versus drug absorption. The results were as follows; The threshold concentration of lidocaine was significantly reduced by the surfactants. Overturn time and death time of goldfish in the lidocaine solution were reduced by such surfactants as tween 40, tween 80, span 80 and triethanolamine, and more reduced with increasing concentration of surfactants except tween 40 and tween 80. The plots of reciprocal death time versus lidocaine concentration were linear relationship with a positive concentration intercept such as minimum effective concentration (0.2-0.8%). As results it is believed that these surfactants may form complexes with lidocaine or affect the goldfish membrane to make more permeable to lidocaine, which is adsorbed more rapidly.

  • Bioemulsifiers are those chemicals which are produced from microorganisms but which have both hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups. $\alpha$-Glucosidase inhibitor ($\alpha$-GI) produced from Bacillus lentimorbus B-6 (B-6) showed bioemulsifying activity. But $\beta$-glucosidase inhibitor produced from B-6 didn't show emulsifying activity. $\alpha$-GI was purified from supernatant of B-6 grown in minimal culture medium containing glucose and sodium glutamate by Sephadex G-100 column chromatography and isolated from $\beta$-GI by dialysis against water. Toluene was determined as the best substrate for emulsifying activity of $\alpha$-GI. $\alpha$-GI showed thermostability at $100^{\circ}C$ for 15 min, high salt tolerance up to 32% NaCl and wide range of pH-stability at pH $4\sim10$. Emulsifying character of $\alpha$-GI can be useful for the liposome formation for the treatment of diabetes mellitus.

  • A number of hydrophilic acrylic comonomers were incorporated into styrene-butadiene soap-free emulsion polymerization. It was found that reaction rate decreased according to : AN>AA>MMA>EA>IA>AAM>MA>HEMA. It was also observed that reaction rate increased with decreasing H-bonding factor contribution to the solubility parameter of the hydrophilic comonoer. The SBR latexes were very monodisperse with the particle size distribution of $1.03{\times}1.12$. Since growth rate is proportional to polymerization time, the difference in conversion rates between various comonomers was resulted from the particle number density of SBR latexes for the various hydrophilic comonomers. It was also found that the colloidal stability of the latexes was excellent because no external emulsifier was incorporated.

  • 3-아미노프로필기를 함유한 실리카 전구체를 물질 조성 성분, 유화제 및 촉매로 이용하여 다른 활성기를 가지는 3-머캅토프로필트리알콕시 실란, 비닐트리알콕시 실란 등과 반응시켜 여러 가지 크기의 구 입자를 제조하였다. 구는 이들 분자의 자기 조립에 의하여 형성되었으며 외부적으로 아무런 물리적, 화학적 자극을 가할 필요가 없었다. 생성되는 구의 크기는 반응 혼합물의 조성 즉 반응 혼합물에 들어 있는 3-아미노프로필기를 함유한 전구체의 양에 따라 결정되었다. 생성물에 들어 있는 3-아미노프로필기의 양은 최대 20 몰%를 넘지 않았으며, 얻어진 구의 지름은 반응물 조성에 따라 수십 nm에서 수 $\mum$에 달하였다.

Antifoaming Properties for Aliphatic Antifoamer Formula (지방족 소포제 조성물의 소포특성)

  • As main components of antifoamers, we were used fatty alcohols, fatty acid and fatty acid esters. Then the antifoaming properties on the particle size distribution, temperature and concentration for antifoamers was measured by Air Injection Method of ASTM under 1L/min air flow rate condition, and was measured surface tensions and emulsifying power of antifoamers. The antifoaming properties on the particle size distribution of antifoamers showed excellent antifoaming properties in the range of emulsion particle size from 5.5 to 6.8${\mu}m$. Surface tensions on the $10^{-2}$wt% aqueous solution of antifoamers was $33{\sim}34$ mN/m. And emulsifying power of fatty alcohol antifoamers showed good.

  • The physical properties of polymeric foams depend on the density of foams, physical properties of base polymers, the content of open cells, and cell structures including the size and its distribution, the shape of cell, and the thickness of skin layer. The foam density is affected by the chemistry of raw materials, the concentration of crosslinking agent and the blowing agent as well as the operating parameters during production process. In this study, the basic formulations of foams are composed of polyester polyol, MDI, amine catalyst, tin catalyst, silicone surfactant, and water. Cross-linking density of polyurethane was increased by using chain extenders. Also, the mechanical properties of polyurethane foam were improved by using the inorganic fillers (silica 1,2 and talc 1,2) having different $SiO_2$ contents and particle sizes. We investigated the properties of modulus, tensile strength, compressive strength and hardness of foams obtained by changing kind of inorganic filler and chain extender, and observed the distribution of inorganic filler as well as variation of cell size within the foams by electron microscopy.

  • This study evaluates the laboratory properties of asphalt binder and mixture modified with R-EPDM(Recycling Ethylene Propylene Dien Monometer), which consists of R-EPDM as a main ingredient that is an industrial by-product made by manufacturing waste EPDM below 50 mesh as an additive. Superpave system was used to determine the PG(Performane Grade) and evaluate the property of R-EPDM modified binder. OACs(Optimum Asphalt Contents) of R-EPDM modified asphalt mixtures were determined by Superpave mix design using gyratory compactor and wheel tracking test and moisture susceptibility test were carried out with R-EPDM modified asphalt mixtures at OACs. The results from these tests, rutting-resistance and freezing and thawing resistance by moisture susceptibility of R-EPDM modified asphalt mixtures were superior to one of general asphalt mixtures(AP-5).

Synthesis and Properties of Anionic Surfactants Using Sarcosine and Taurine (사코진과 타우린을 이용한 음이온 계면활성제의 합성 및 물성)

  • Anionic surfactants were synthesized by using an sarcosine, taurine and fatty alcohol with varying the carbon chain length. The structure of synthesized surfactants was confirmed by $^1H$ NMR analysis. The critical micelle concentration of the synthetic anionic surfactant was $10^{-2}{\sim}10^{-4}mol/L$ and the surface tension value at the critical micelle concentration was between 21 and 39 mN/m. It was confirmed by the Ross-Miles method that the synthetic surfactant with the carbon chain of 12 showed a good foaming power and stability. In addition, the surfactant using the sacosine was found to have a good affinity in soybean oil while that using taurine in benzene. The physical properties of synthesized surfactants were determined by measuring the critical micelle concentration, foaming power and emulsifying stability.
