  • In this paper, we developed a numerical analysis model by using ADI-FDTD method to analyze three-dimensional interconnect structure. We discretized maxwell's curl equation by using ADI-FDTD. Using ADI-FDTD method, a sampler circuit designed from 3.3 V CMOS technology is simplified to 3-metal line structure. Using this simplified structure, the time delay and signal distortion of complex interconnects are investigated. As results of simulation, 5∼10 ps of delay time and 0.1∼0.2 V of signal distortion are measured. As demonstrated in this paper, the full-wave analysis using ADI-FDTD exhibits a promise for accurate modeling of electromagnetic phenomena in high-speed VLSI interconnect.

  • In this paper, two-dimensional(2-D) Finite Difference Time Domain(FDTD) method using the domain decomposition method is proposed. We calculated the electromagnetic scattering field of a two dimensional rectangular Perfect Electric Conductor(PEC) structure using the 2-D FDTD method with Schur complement method as a domain decomposition method. Four domain decomposition and eight domain decomposition are applied for the analysis of the proposed structure. To validate the simulation results, the general 2-D FDTD algorithm for the total domain are applied to the same structure and the results show good agreement with the 2-D FDTD using the domain decomposition method.

  • This paper presents an analysis of a slot on the broad wall of a rectangular waveguide using the 3D FDTD method. In order to reduce the reflection loss, Mur's 2nd absorbing boundary condition is used. To realize the optimum design by FDTD, the effects of time step, excitation aperture size, analysis region and excitation position in model are derived. The analysis results are compared with the experimental results and they show a good agreement with each other.

  • In this paper, an analytical laser ablation model with Maxwell equation will be addressed by considering relationship between laser ablation and material. The Maxwell equation consists of four equations: two Gauss laws for electric and magnetic fields, Faraday's law, and Ampere's law. This analytical model will be calculated by employing Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD). This method also makes it possible to simulate the laser beam propagation in a wide range of materials, such as metals, semiconductors, and dielectrics. Therefore, in this study, a numerical model for short pulse laser interaction with materials is developed, focusing on the accurate description of laser beam propagation and ablation process into the material with each pulse.
