Development of Bridge Management System for Next Generation based on Life-Cycle Cost and Performance (생애주기 비용 및 성능을 고려한 차세대 교량 유지관리기법 개발)

  • This study proposes a practical and realistic method to establish an optimal lifetime maintenance strategy for deteriorating bridges by considering the life-cycle performance as well as the life-cycle cost. The proposed method offers a set of optimal tradeoff maintenance scenarios among other conflicting objectives, such as minimizing cost and maximizing performance. A genetic algorithm is used to generate a set of maintenance scenarios that is a multi-objective combinatorial optimization problem related to the and the life-cycle cost and performance as separate objective functions. A computer program, which generates optimal maintenance scenarios, was developed based on the proposed method. The subordinate relation between bridge members has been considered to decide optimal maintenance sequence. The developed program has been used to present a procedure for finding an optimal maintenance scenario for steel-girder bridges on the Korean National Road. Through this bridge maintenance scenario analysis, it is expected that the developed method and program can be effectively used to allow bridge managers an optimal maintenance strategy satisfying various constraints and requirements.

  • Recently, according to a public order with BIM regulations, various technologies of facility management (FM) have been studied to use BIM data effectively. The technology for BIM-based FM, such as BIM data standard, BIM modeling, BIM server, and BIM-GIS platform, reverse engineering based on 3D image scans is developing constantly. On the other hand, there has been little research on the range of FM based on BIM, the role of actors by management works, the difference, and difference in effects between original FM and BIM-based FM. This study examined the scenario of architectural FM based on BIM and confirmed the effect. For this, after analyzing the research trends, the range of FM applications and the role of actors by management works were defined, and the effectiveness analysis of a BIM-based architectural FM scenario was deduced.

The Model to Generate Optimum Maintenance Scenario for Steel Bridges considering Life-Cycle Cost and Performance (강교량의 최적 유지관리 시나리오 선정 모델)

  • In this paper, a more practical and realistic method is proposed to establish the lifetime optimum maintenance strategies of the deteriorating bridges considering the life-cycle performance as well as life-cycle cost. The genetic algorithm is applied to generate the set of maintenance scenarios that is the multi-objective combinatorial optimization problem related to lifetime performance and cost as separate objective functions, and the technique to select optimum tradeoff maintenance scenario is presented. Optimum maintenance scenarios could be generated not only at the individual member level but also at the system level of the bridge. Through the analytical results of applying the proposed methodology to the existing bridge, it is expected that the methodology will be effectively used to determine the optimum maintenance strategy for introducing a real preventive maintenance system and overcoming the limits of existing maintenance methods.

  • 본 연구에서는 계절별 기후인자를 고려하여 정성적 및 정량적 위험성 평가를 실시하여 사고 시나리오를 설정하였고, 비용-편익분석을 실시하여 사고 시나리오별 안전관리 비의 효율을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 최악의 시나리오는 비정상조업에서 유지보수 오류이었고, 가능성 있는 시나리오는 HAZOP 구간#4에서 발생되는 가스 누출사고이었으며, 각 사고 시나리오에서 전체 안전관리 투자비에 대한 편익/비용은 0.043과 0.13이었다. 이때 각 사고 시나리오에서 비용 효과적인 안전관리 항목을 평가할 수 있었다.

  • In this study, a bridge maintenance system is developed to generate performance-based optimum maintenance strategy by considering the life-cycle cost. A multi-objective combinatorial optimization problem is formulated to generate a tradeoff maintenance scenarios which satisfies the balance among the conflicting objectives such as the performance and cost during the bridge lifetime and a genetic algorithm is applied to the system. By using the developed program, this study proposes a process of optimum maintenance scenario applying to the steel girder bridge of national road. The developed system improves the current methods of establishing the bridge maintenance strategy and can be utilized as an efficient tool to provide the optimum bridge maintenance scenario corresponding to the various constraints and requirements of bridge agency.

  • Service life of bridges should be evaluated by physical life considering damage/deterioration. But it is difficult to identify optimal maintenance scenario due to insufficient research related to that. To identify optimal maintenance scenario, it is needed to develope life cycle profile model of condition state variation by deterioration factor. The LCP model has been developed in consideration of regression analysis and survey in this study. It is expected that the LCP model could help to achieve HBMS system improvement.

  • 본 논문에서는 홍수터, 홍수관리구역, 유지, 습지, 녹지 등의 용어로 지칭되는 홍수완충 공간관리 및 계획수립 시 활용할 수 있는 실무지원 도구 개발을 위한 시나리오를 도출하기 위해 국내·외 선행 연구과 오픈소스 GIS 기반 기술개발 현황을 조사하여 개별 연구에서 수행한 개발 시나리오를 분석하였다. 세부 개발 시나리오 분석 시, Top-Down 방식으로 실시하고 중복되는 시나리오는 병합을 실시하였다. 또한 세분화 완료한 시나리오는 단계를 구분하고 명칭과 부호를 부여하였다. 명칭과 부호 부여가 끝난 시나리오는 홍수완충 공간관리 실무지원 도구 개발 내부 모듈 설계에 적용하였다.

  • In this paper, a new method for the bridge maintenance is proposed to overcome the limit of the existing methods and to implement the preventive bridge maintenance system. The proposed method can establish the lifetime optimum maintenance strategy of the deteriorating bridges considering the life-cycle performance as well as the life-cycle cost. The lifetime performance of the deteriorating bridges is evaluated by the safety index based on the structural reliability and the condition index detailing the condition state. The life-cycle cost is estimated by considering not only the direct maintenance cost but also the user and failure cost. The genetic algorithm is applied to generate a set of maintenance scenarios which is the multi-objective combinatorial optimization problem related to the life-cycle cost and performance. The study examined the proposed method by establishing a maintenance strategy for the existing bridge and its advantages. The result shows that the proposed method can be effectively applied to deciding the bridge maintenance strategy.

  • This paper is a maintenance system for bridge represented by Class 3 and other than by law bridges. Domestic bridge are divided into Class 1 & 2 bridges and Class 3 & other than by law bridges. The number of type 3 and other than by law bridges is very large. But, it is considered to be of relatively low importance compared to Class 1 & 2 Bridge Bridge. So, in this paper is propose a maintenance system and procedure for small & medium-sized bridges. However, because the number of small & medium-sized bridges is large, it is not possible to evaluate the performance of all bridges like Class 1 & 2 bridge. The reason is the lack of manpower and budget. Based on the Risk Matrix method, a maintenance procedure was created to select the bridge for which performance evaluation should be performed first. For this purpose, basic information of the bridge is used. And, the developed maintenance procedures were applied to the bridges in actual use.

  • This study established a catastrophic scenario and a likely scenario by qualitative and quantitative risk assessments to consider climate condition with season, and assessed efficiency of safety management cost with scenarios by cost-benefit analysis. As results, the catastrophic scenario was the maintenance error for unsteady state operation, and the likely scenario was the gas release accident at node $\sharp$4 of HAZOP Also, benefit/cost ratios for total safety management cost and effective items of safety management could be assessed at each scenario.
