The Effect of Thermal Buoyancy on Air Flow and Temperature Distribution in a Slot-Ventilated Livestock Building (환기중(換氣中)인 축사(畜舍)의 열부력(熱浮力)이 공기유동 및 온도분포에 미치는 영향)

  • 환기중인 실험축사내에서 가축의 현열과 환기공기의 온도차에 의한 열부력(熱浮力)(thermal buoyancy)이 공기유동 및 온도분포에 미치는 영향을 구명(究明)하기 위하여 TEACH 컴퓨터프로그램($k-{\varepsilon}$ 난류모형 및 SIMPLE계열 Algorithm)을 Curvilinear Coordinates에 맞게 변형하였다. 계산한 축사내 공기유통 및 온도분포의 유의성(有意性) 검증은 Boon(1978)의 실험결과를 이용하였다. 열부력의 크기에 따른 유동의 변화를 관찰하기 위하여 유입공기의 온도를 $17^{\circ}C$$10^{\circ}C$ 두 수준으로 입력하였으며, 가축의 현열플릭스(flux)는 실내온도에 따라 변화하므로 유압공기의 온도가 $17^{\circ}C$일 때는 130W/$m^2$, $10^{\circ}C$일 때는 170W/$m^2$을 경계조건으로 입력하였다. 예측한 공기유동의 형태는 실험값(Boon, 1978)과 비교하여 대체로 만족할만한 결과를 얻었다. 그러나 유입공기의 온도가 $10^{\circ}C$인 경우, 예측 공기유동은 실험 유동형태와 차이가 있었다. 즉, 실험에서는 수평슬롯으로 유입된 공기가 바로 아래로 굴절되어 유동(流動)하였으나, 계산의 결과는 일정 거리로 수평방향으로 유동하다가 아래로 굴절하였다. 이런 유동의 차이는 경험적으로 열부력(熱浮力)에 민감하게 반응하지 않는 k-${\varepsilon}$ 난류(亂流)모형의 적용이 원인이 되거나 실험의 부적절한 수행이 원인이 될 수도 있다. 이 유동(流動)의 Reynolds 수(數) (Re)는 약 3,300, 수정Ar수(修正Ar數)(Corrected Archimedes Number : $Ar_c$)64로써, $Ar_c$ <30 이거나 $Ar_c$ >75이면 유입공기의 제트는 수평유동한다는 Randall & Battams(1979)의 연구결과와는 일치하였다. 그러나 공기제트의 굴절은 유동의 특성이 같다하더라도 유체의 성질, 축사의 기하학적 형태에 따라서 매우 민감하게 반응하므로 실제 실험을 통한 재검정과정을 거쳐야 할 것으로 판단된다. Fig. 9와 Fig. 10의 기하학적 형태의 지점별 예측온도와 측정온도(Boon, 1978)와의 편차는 대부분의 지점에서는 $1^{\circ}C$ 미만으로 상당히 정확하였으며, 최대의 온도차는 Fig. 10의 지점 13에서 $1.7^{\circ}C$이었다.

  • It is very important to supply the diesel fuel from fuel tank to combustion chamber in case of cold start procedure. the paraffin hydrocarbons are easily solidified at low fuel temperature and it can be blocking the fuel supply to the high pressure fuel pump. In order to reduce the fuel crystallization (Waxing), it have been used to develop not only cold flow additives but also the proper mounting design of fuel filter. Block heater in the fuel filter assembly have been also contained to improve the cold start and prevent blocking the fuel supply in Common Rail Direct Injection System. we can obtain the fuel pressure drop and fuel flow rate, power consumption of fuel heater to have the cold flow evaluation test with the saperated and composited fuel heater at the low ambient temperature, Due to evaluating cold flow performance of two block heater, we knew that composited package fuel heater was the excellent cold flow performance compared to separated type and obtained the parameters of cold flow.

  • Coupling bolts have replaced conventional fitted bolts in applications where the operator's safety during assembly/disassembly is of concern or where the cost of process interruption is significant. Coupling bolts have been installed on rotating flange couplings in a wide range of marine and power applications worldwide. Their use has been approved by all leading international and national classification societies and regulatory bodies. A coupling bolt is a hydraulically tensioned fitted bolt that creates a stable and rigid link between coupling flanges and simplifies assembly and disassembly. We measure the bolt dimensions for reverse engineering and study the standard of assembly-load using a mechanical formula in order to localize a coupling bolt for a shaft in a power plant. We experimentally obtain the friction coefficient and confirm the condition of bolt sets through structure analysis. We show the variation of contact pressure for the shape parameter in order to consider the result when redesigning a bolt.

Efficiency of Retarding Reflection Crack in Reinforced-and-Modified Asphalt Pavement Overlay (개질재.보강재를 이용한 덧씌우기 아스팔트 포장의 반사균열 지연 효과)

  • This study was performed to evaluate performance of polymer-modified asphalt mixtures and specially designed reinforcement techniques against reflection cracking of the asphalt pavement overlay. Selected polymers were used for asphalt modification and polyester fiber, a polypropylene film (vinyl) and a grid were used for mixture reinforcement. Using the asphalt mixture with optimum asphalt content, a slab was made and cut into two pieces of specimen. A layer of grid or vinyl was placed at the bottom of specimen to strengthen the pavement layer against crack. A repeated loading was applied to the asphalt mixture specimen which is Placed on a cement concrete with a pseudo-crack. Crack propagation under repeated loading was monitored and effectiveness of the devised crack retarding techniques was evaluated. From the test results. a significant retardation of mode I crack progress was monitored from some of the modified and reinforced asphalt mixtures.

  • Even the rough prediction of the product test time before the lifetime test of mechanical component begins would be of use in estimating cost and deciding how to keep up with the test. The reliability predictions of mechanical components are difficult because failure or degradation mechanisms are complicated, and few plausible databases are available for lifetime prediction. Therefore, this study conducted lifetime predictions of elastomeric U seals that were respectively installed in a hydraulic actuator and a pneumatic actuator using lifetime models and a field database based on failure physics and an actual test database obtained from the NSWC handbook. To validate the results, the predicted failure rates were compared with the actual lifetime test results acquired in the lab durability tests. Finally, this study discussed an engineering procedure to determine the coefficients in the failure rate models and analyzed the sensitivity of each influential parameter on the seal lifetime.

  • Static tests and low-cycle fatigue tests were conducted to analyze the characteristics of the bellows for LNG vessels according to the forming methods. The cycle life of bellows was tested based on the specified cyclic life, 80000 cycles, to analyze the difference in characteristics between pre-and post-test data by measuring the strain and stress of each convolution of formed bellows. The low-cycle fatigue test was conducted using a strain gauge that was attached to the convolution of bellows. Formed bellows were placed on the structural test device which was equipped with a hydraulic system and was capable of moving in the x-y direction. Data was measured and processed by a multi recorder. Through the static test and low-cycle fatigue tests results, the difference between the cycle life of bellows formed by mechanical methods and of those formed by hydraulic methods was investigated. Moreover, the cause of difference in cyclic life according to forming methods was performed.

  • 선박의 선체부분인 선수, 선미 등을 이루고 있는 곡형 외판의 제작은 강판을 원하는 형상으로 성형하기 위하여 벤딩롤러 및 유압프레스를 이용한 냉간가공과 산소-프로판가스 화염을 적용한 선상가열, 삼각가열을 이용한 열간가공으로 크게 구분할 수 있다. 선상가열을 이용한 곡면가공의 원리는 가열토치를 이용하여 강판을 가열하면 가열부는 팽창하게 되고 냉각시에는 수축하게 된다. 이 때 두께방향으로의 소성변형으로 인한 수축량의 차이로 인해 굽혀지게 된다. 최근에는 선박이 고기능 및 대형화로 인해 3차원 곡형 외판 형상이 복잡해지고, 강도를 향상시키기 위하여 합금원소(C, Nb, V, Ti)를 첨가하거나 열처리(노말라이징)를 이용한 고장력강재인 중후판의 적용이 증가하고 있다. 이러한 고강도강재를 선상가열공정으로 제작한 곡형 외판재는 가열, 냉각의 열사이클로 인해 취화되어 인성이 저하 될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 Normalizing 열처리재인 490MPa급 강재를 이용하여, 현장에서 작업자의 미숙련으로 인해 발생 할 수 있는 최대의 가혹한 조건과 재질에 큰 영향을 미치지 않는 범위를 선정하여 선상가열시의 가열, 냉각조건에 따른 강재의 재질특성을 조사하고자 한다. 이를 위해 가열시 가열부위의 정확한 온도 측정에 역점을 두었으며, 각각 다른 선상가열 조건에 따른 시편을 제작하기 위하여 선상가열 실험장치를 제작하였다. 선상가열 실험 결과 최고가열온도 $1300^{\circ}C,\;950^{\circ}C$에서 수냉 조건인 경우 급격한 인성저하 현상이 발생하며 비록 공냉이라 하더라도 결정립 조대화로 인성 저하가 발생하였다. $800^{\circ}C$가열 후 수냉개시온도를 $700^{\circ}C$이하로 수냉한 경우에는 인성 저하 현상이 개선되고 있음을 알 수 있다.

  • The torque-coefficient of torque-shear type high-strength bolts is affected by the environmental factors, such as 'wet', 'rust', 'exposure to air' and workability during tightening high strength bolts. It is difficult to assume the direct tension induced into the bolt due to variation of torque-coefficient for torque-shear type high-strength bolts. Therefore, it is essential to measure tension loads of bolts and to verify the clamping force under construction. In this study, the manufacture of trial product was planned to identify the induced force into the bolts. The algorithm for a trial product was composed of the relation between electricity energy taken from torque shear wrench and tension force from hydraulic tension meter. The regression analysis equation to measure the direct tension was derived by statistical analysis using Minitab program. It is considered that the trial product is reliable tool to evaluate the tension force comparable to a commercial torque wrench.

Impact Test for Measurement of the Carbody Bending Modes of Railway Vehicle (철도차량 차체 굽힘모드 측정을 위한 충격시험)

  • As the speed of high speed train increases, the prediction of ride comfort becomes important. The exciting frequencies due to rail irregularity in high-speed train closes to the second and third natural frequencies of the carbody. The dynamic characteristics of railway vehicles should be checked by modal analysis numerically and experimentally. In this study the bending test for railway vehicle is reviewed and the impact test is suggested to find the natural frequencies and the mode shapes of the carbody. The validity of the impact test is checked with the test for a sample plate which reflects the aspect ratio of the original carbody. The bending test by the impact and the displacement methods of JIS E7105 for a prototype carbody were done in the field and compared. The results show that the impact test can find more accurate natural frequencies and the mode shapes of the carbody than those of the displacement method.

  • We have been developing an underwater robot for harbour construction using a parallel mechanism The robot is attached to the rope of a crane, which curries a large stone into the undersea The robot's yaw and pitch are controlled by hydraulic cylinders but its roll is uncontrollable. We mount propellers in both side of the robot to generate the roll motion This paper studies on the control for the roll motion of a underwater robot. A gyro-sensor is used to measure the angle in a roll motion We develop the dynamic model to describe the robot's roll motion by a second order non-linear system and identify the model parameters by recursive least square and adaptive identifier. PD control, recursive model based control and adaptive model based control are applied with the dynamic model which computes the control input to compensate disturbances. This paper introduces the underwater robot system and presents the simulated and experimental results of the proposed controller.
