Implementation of a context-awareness framework and context model for ubiquitous computing environment (유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경을 위한 상황 모델 정의 및 상황 인식 프레임워크 구현)

  • The systems in the ubiquitous computing environment need to provide users with context-aware services, intelligently interacting with the surrounding environment. Therefore, the systems in the ubiquitous computing environment require context-awareness ability in order to gather and analyze context information in various situations and environments. However, existing context-aware systems lack the ability to systematically generate and handle various types of context information, and only a few systems have ability learning from environment. In this paper, a general context model is defined to describe various contexts and a context-awareness framework is implemented based in the model, which makes it straightforward to handle and generate various types of context from diverse sensor. The framework is designed to allow a system to sensed, combined, inferred, and learned context information, in order to provide users with services in dynamic environments. We have implemented the proposed framework and applied it to a u-Health management system.

  • Ubiquitous environments make it possible to connect people and objects together seamlessly using networking technology. To realize ubiquitous environments many kinds of devices should follow the exact protocol. To observe protocol and prepare the increasing network traffic are very difficult in the aspects of maintenance, so the new efficient technology is required. Wimedia technology is a prominent ubiquitous technology which can make connection with many devices. This paper propose a energy efficient method for Wimedia bridge implementation which is a part of scale-free uPAN systems. The proposed method can reduce network expenses which is generated by protocol requirements by adding efficient packet encapsulation and bridging technology. It can be proved to be more time and energy efficient by simulations.

  • Along with the advent of ubiquitous computing environment, it is becoming a part of our common life style that the demands for enjoying the wireless internet using intelligent portable device such as smart phone and iPad, are increasing anytime or anyplace without any restriction of time and place. The recommending service becomes a very important technology which can find exact information to present users, then is easy for customers to reduce their searching effort to find out the items with high purchasability in e-commerce. Traditional mining association rule ignores the difference among the transactions. In order to do that, it is considered the importance of type of merchandise or service and then, we suggest a new recommending service using mining sequential pattern based on weight to reflect frequently changing trends of purchase pattern as time goes by and as often as customers need different merchandises on e-commerce being extremely diverse. To verify improved better performance of proposing system than the previous systems, we carry out the experiments in the same dataset collected in a cosmetic internet shopping mall.

  • Consumers have paid attention to various functions of PC's nowadays from its efficiency in the past. This study set limits to adapted computers by consumer needs for their residence facilities and ubiquitous environment in our society. The purpose of this study is to suggest high potentialities of adapted computers and it's design for materializing house ubiquitous system. It has come out from analyzing PC market. The result is that Barebone PC, a kind of set PC, could be one of the most actual way for materializing house ubiquitous system. This study suggests many potentialities of Barebone PC which invites modular system. The existing Barebone PC is a kind of semimanufactures, however the new Barebone PC in this study is a expanded concept of modular system that connected to the area of the electric home appliances. This is inspected by analyzing the relation among potentialities and impotance of set PC design and module.

  • One of the main goals of ubiquitous computing is to share a variety of resources existing to smart space and compose an efficient services by reasoning the most user-suitable resources, However, each applications describe the resources and services in different expression ways and these heterogeneous expression ways make it difficult for sharing and reasoning of the resources. Therefore, it is necessary to unify the information for resources sharing and ontology is one of the solution for the unification. In this paper, we define the possible services in the ubiquitous smart space and its ontology. Also, we propose a resource ontology to represent the usable resources in the space. our ontologies are used to reason resource set for composing user-suitable service in the ubiquitous smart space.

  • In order to design and develop a ubiquitous game, it is necessary to develop a natural and flexible interface between the real world and the virtual world, based on social and physical context awareness. We design user interface model and the tactile sensing system that performs virtual interaction and collection of the sensor data. It is sensitive so the collected data should be filtered, rearranged and analyzed. This information is quite different from stylus input, keyboard, button or mouse for interaction. We detect kicked 3D force position of a ball, moment of area, moment of inertia and modified ball shape using tactile sensing system and analyzed data. The results demonstrate that the proposed approach is desirable and robust as well as the results can be used realistic actions and reactions considering attack force and to make interesting environments for ubiquitous game.

  • With the new paradigm of ubiquitous in the developed computing technology, it is urgently necessary to research GIS fields centering around positioning techniques. The intention of this study is to propose implementation methods for integrating topographic and cadastral data. For this purpose an integrated data model is formed to coincide the graphic data of cadastral map with that of topographic map. As a result, the integrated data model could be built by harmonizing cadastral map with topographic map. We suggest data model for connecting with other information systems in the conditions of data uniformity and implementation. This data implementation models suggested in this research can provide a good reference for the future implementation of other systems. This results will be efficiently used as basis for practical use in ubiquitous environments of spatial informations.

  • Today's rapid shifts toward a new paradigm are combining city spaces with reality and technology, which is known as a ubiquitous environment. An ubiquitous environment means that 'whenever' and 'wherever' become connected. It is a great possibility that this will change our future lifestyle. Korea has the biggest advantage in the implementation of this new environment, such as having an excellent network infrastructure. Using these attributes of a ubiquitous environment, changes are being made toward ubiquitous cities within developing fields of construction, landscaping, streets, art, and the environment. This research is based on background of research that activated media pole in public city space has been done research about reality of digital skill, fusion, and sense of ubitizen, and Kang-Nam U-street applied by ubiquitous technique. While reflecting an environment that can be utilized in a modern digital society, the application of ubiquitous technology to media pole can be a space for the two-way communication of the current paradigm. It would also be meaningful to create a new cultural space through media pole. Through evaluation, citizens of the ubiquitous age are going to interact to raise the satisfaction that media pole in city space can prevent giving direction to develop and trial and error about service ability, identity, and publicity. Finally, the media pole can be used as a fundamental element to suggest directions for change when viewed as future development.
