한 때 명사 앞에 'e'를 붙여 신기술임을 표시하곤 했다. e메일ㆍe북ㆍe러닝ㆍe비즈니스ㆍe스포츠등 많은 부분에 접두어처럼 e를 붙여 'Electronic' 개념의 첨단성을 강조했고, 이러한 유행은 'e편한 세상','e스테이션'등의 브랜드명으로도 발전했다. 이러한 e의 유행 패턴을 넘겨받은게 접두어'u'이다. 이제 u라는 접두어가 붙은 용어를 쉽게 접할 수 있다.u코리아에서부터 시작하여, u시티ㆍu북ㆍu러닝ㆍu환경ㆍu교통ㆍu행정등 대부분의 일반명사 앞에 u를 붙여서 사용하는 현상을 보게 된다. 굳이 부연 설명을 하지 않더라도 이 u가 유비쿼터스(Ubiquitous)의 머리글자 u를 칭하고 있음은 일반적 상식이 되어있다. 정말 u세상이 온 것일까? 이번 모바일 핫토크에서는 2006년 첫 주제로 유비쿼터스 세상에 대해 다루고자 한다.

This study examines the vision/strategies of policy for the public services based ubiquitous-IT. That policy is for searching the ubiquitous based people-friendly public services and promoting the industry related u-IT. This article's purposes are below; first, making the policy for activating the ubiquitous based public services, second, looking for the core subjects focused on practical value, and finally, proposing the system for the cooperation between public and private sector.

We called a current society the convergence generation. In information society, digital convergence means a service or new product which appeared through fusion of unit technologies in information and communication regions. The effects of convergence technologies and social phenomenons are visualized in overall regions of society such as economy, society, culture, etc. In 2011, The Government introduced "IT Convergence Technology Prediction Survey 2025". This report includes 10 ICT industries. In this paper, we described a smart city which was leading case in digital convergence and related with our life.

According to the enforcement of various laws for the ubiquitous city, the convergence technologies for the ubiquitous in the industry has been emerging. In this paper, we propose a method for the ubiquitous convergence technology by a functional integration of the public employment of the physical space and physical facilities, as the related laws are enforced and the city development plan is processed in the situation which constructs the ubiquitous and eco-city. We also present a scheme for the establishment to prepare the foundation of systematization, standardization, and information-oriented by providing an application example for the common-use-channel and unification IP pool based on the proposed method.

Ubiquitous computing is a vogue word, and its service is very popular in Korea. However, present ubiquitous service(u-Service) is thought to be more oriented to the provider's point of view, not the consumer's. To complement this problem, an online survey was performed for internet users, which consists of 24 single choice questions on six fields such as transportation, healthcare, environment/city-management, culture/education, administration, and industry. 2463 people joined the survey, who were grouped according to their age, resident region, level of education, and sex. Each group's demand for specific field of u-Service was examined. General level of demand was higher in case of the elderly and male than the younger and female for overall u-Service.

Recently, interesting of U-city with ubiquitous computing technologies has increased and u-city services can improve people's quality of life. Among the u-city services, traffice service is actively developed in our lives. In this paper, we propose the business model and business model process in u-car tracking service. To propose the research purpose, we examined the prior business model and investigated u-car tracking information. And also, we draw scenario and used it to identify business model. To efficiently understand proposed business model, we built business model process of u-car tracking service. The results of study, we proposed business model and business model process with stakeholder, benefiter and value model. This study concludes with implications of the study results as well as limitations and future research directions.

In smart cities, data from various kinds of sensors are collected and processed to provide smart services to the citizens. Noise information services with noise maps using the collected sensor data from various kinds of ubiquitous sensor networks is one of them. This paper presents a research result which generates three dimensional (3D) noise maps in real-time for smart cities. To make a noise map, we have to converge many informal data which include big image data of geographical Information and massive sensor data. Making such a 3D noise map in real-time requires the processing of the stream data from the ubiquitous sensor networks in real-time and the convergence operation in real-time. They are very challenging works. We developed our own methodology for real-time distributed and parallel processing for it and present it in this paper. Further, we developed our own real-time 3D noise map generation system, with the methodology. The system uses open source softwares for it. Here in this paper, we do introduce one of our systems which uses Apache Storm. We did performance evaluation using the developed system. Cloud computing was used for the performance evaluation experiments. It was confirmed that our system was working properly with good performance and the system can produce the 3D noise maps in real-time. The performance evaluation results are given in this paper, as well.

A Ubiquitous-Ecological City (U-Eco City) is the new urban paradigm integrated with ubiquitous-city (U-City) connecting the high-tech IT technology to the urvan space with the concept of the sustainable eco-city. As a U-Eco City is attempted for the first time domestically and internationally, there is insufficient discussions for its develoment goal, planned design proposal, technology and service element and others. Even if there are plans to build up it, policy and technology, service structuring business and others, it is difficult to assess how it would bring the efficacy. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to present the indicators system to assess a U-Eco City. The results of this study revealed the following; First, the conceptual framework, which was established to achieve sustainable urban quality, can be suggested by establishing its notion of the U-Eco City. The concept of a U-Eco City as established in this study suggests that the economic development in growth-oriented level has to be conducted not only quality of urban environment but also in terms of sustainable to consider the complex impact of various development; Secondly, the developed assessment system has heightened the completeness as the evaluation index through the attitude survey. As a result of questionnaire survey with the subject of specialists and interested party of this study, the urban qualitative aspect is formulated for the stability as a relatively important aspect. For the urban continuity aspect, society, environment and economy have all similar importance, but the environment element was shown to be highest. And finally, subject area was selected on the basis of the evaluation system and the analysis was made on the basis of the implementation design plan of the area. As a result of the assessment, safety and economy have shown to be high. This is indirectly indicated for the priority in economic growth driven development plan unlike the importance of environmental continuity obtained through the attitude survey. When planning on urban development, there is a need for supplementing the environment part and it has to present the connection plan between the economic growth and environmental continuity.

첨단 미래도시 건설을 위한 u시티 같은 대규모 네트워크 구축 사업에 첨단 유비쿼터스 사회를 앞당기기 위한 기술로 주목 받던 센서 네트워크를 도입하기 위한 IP-USN 기술개발이 활기를 띄고 있다. IP-USN은 기존의 IP 인프라를 기반으로 센서 노드, 게이트웨이 및 싱크 노드 등 USN 네트워크를 통합해 광범위한 확장성과 이동성을 보장, 다양한 분야에 서비스를 적용하게 해주는 기술을 의미한다. 이처럼 인터넷 망과 연계하는 대규모 센서 네트워크 응용이 많아지면서 센서 네트워크를 구성하는 핵심 소프트웨어인 센서 네트워크 운영체제와 관련 기술 역시 그 중요성이 부각되고 있다. 이에 본 고에서는 IP-USN을 위한 기술을 지원하는 국내외 센서 네트워크 운영체제에 대해 살펴본다.

The concept of library is newly interpreted and designed under the environment of U-City. The basic notion of the library should not changed its kernel nevertheless, the new technologies like ubiquitous computing services are applied to the library, which functions in terms of information services, continuous learning programs and communities of practice(CoP). The library is fit for any technologies or environments as organism. Actually the library has been shown in terms of new information technologies with the changes of the times. It leads to comprehend the library as its appearance not as it is. The libraries including even cities have evolved toward ubiquitous(computing) environment. On the other words, the libraries have sought ubiquitous at the past, now they are still chasing it.
