  • We produced the glass beads using a spherical vessel which is rotable with the mix ture of releasing agent and glass powder in a electric furnace (apparatus 1), a tubing apparatus of electric furnace which can be gravitated a cullet (apparatus 2) and a tubing apparatus which is dispersible glass powders with the flame of propane gas (apparatus 3). The substrates which are Korean sodium silicates glass 1, 2, boro silicates glass and lead silicates glass are used and the size of cullets is 60-300 mesh. In the results of experimental apparatus, the preferable temperature of apparatus 1 is 880$^{\circ}C$, apparatus 2 is 980$^{\circ}C$ and apparatus 3 is 1100$^{\circ}C$. However, the method of apparatus 3 is more effective than the methods of apparatus 1 and 2 in view of treating time and rate of adhesion.

  • Foamed glass was fabricated by using glass powder and foaming agents. For the glass powder, we used sodalime glass which's manufactured by using refused coal ore obtained as by-product from Dogye coal mine in Samcheok. And for the foaming agents, we used Calcium carbonate, Calcium phosphate and powder of shale type refused coal ore itself which has high content of carbon materials. We additionally used liquid binder for forming, and mixed together. And we formed rectangular shape and treated $800^{\circ}C$ for 20 min in an electrical furnace. The various kinds of foam glass samples were fabricated according to the kinds of foaming agents. The physical properties of samples, as specific gravity and compressive strength, were measured. Pore structure of each samples were investigated too. Foam glass with specific gravity of 0.4~0.7 and compressive strength of 30~72 kg/$cm^2$. Especially we get satisfying foam glass sample with low specific gravity of 0.47 and high compressive strength of 72 kg/$cm^2$ by the use of liquid calcium phosphate as foaming agent. It also had small and even shape of pore structure. Therefore, it is concluded that refused coal ore can be used for raw materials to manufacture secondary glass products such as a foamed glass panel for construction and industrial materials.

  • Ag thick film conductors were fabricated with Ag powders having different degree of dispersion and glasses having different viscosity, and then the relationship between microstructure and electrical properties of the Ag films was investigated. Under the same processing condition. the Ag thick film that was prepared with the well-dispersed Ag powder and glass having low viscosity had denser microstructure and lower resistance than those of the film which was fabricated with the agglomerated Ag powder and glass having high viscosity It is believed to be due to the fast micro rearrangement kinetics when the well dispersed Ag powder was used, and all the microstructure development kinetics were impeded when low viscosity glass used. It was found that theme fast microstructure development kinetics resulted in the dense microstructure and the lower sheet resistance of the films. Also, the saturation time, at which at a given temperature no further decrease in the sheet resistance was obtained, was found to be shortened when well-dispersed Ag powder and low viscosity glass were used.

  • Borosilicate glass can be used for improving neutron shielding of concrete. The well known expansion of borosilicate glass caused by expansion of mortar bar was can cause serious damage to the concrete. In this research, borosilicate glass was powdered to reduce the particle size similar to that of cement, and 20% cement replacement set was reduced expansion rate about 30%. But aggregate replacement set was damaged because of Alkali-Silica Reaction expansion.

  • A borosilicate glass was powdered to incorporation into the cement for the purpose of improving the neutron shielding performance of concrete. The particle size of the borosilicate glass powder was prepared by a similar to that of cement. 50×50×50mm size of cube specimens were measured a compressive strength. As a result, compressive strength of 10% borosilicate glass powder replaced specimens were improved than that of plain specimens.

  • In this article, the foamed body of glass was manufactured from the waste borosilicate glass produced by wet pulverization process without additional pretreatment which can be used as a recycling method for waste LCD panel glass. Each 100 g of pulverized waste borosilicate glass with the size of less than 270 mesh were mixed with 0.3 weight fraction of carbon and 1.5 weight fraction of $Na_2CO_3$, $Na_2SO_4$ and $CaCO_3$ and let them foamed for 20 minutes at $950^{\circ}C$ to manufacture the foamed body having the density of less than $0.3g/cm^3$. Additionally, adding $SiO_2$ or $H_3BO_3$ to the mixture enabled the foamed body to have efficient formation of open pores which showed the possibility for producing the foamed body with new functionalities such as sound absorption.

  • Reverse osmosis(RO) and rotary evaporation, freezer drying and spray drying as concentration and dehydration methods were, respectively, employed to investigate their effect on the flavor quality of ginger powder. Rotary evaporation and spray drying methods were more effective to restrict the browning of ginger powder than RO and freezer drying methods. Concentration methods had no effect on the free amino acids and free sugar contents of ginger powder, but freezer drying resulted in the less quality loss than spray drying. And the powder prepared from enzymatically hydrolyzed extract contained less crude protein, crude ash, browning and the changes in free amino acids, but had more the crude fat, solubility and free sugars than that from ginger extract obtained by filter press. Sensory results indicated that quality of ginger powder prepared by RO concentration and freeze drying of enzymatically hydrolyzed extract was as good as that without enzyme hydrolysis

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum amount of Artemisia annua L. powder for adding rice flour. The A. annua powder was added to the rice flour at ratios of 1% (30 g/3 kg), 2% (60 g/3 kg), 3% (90 g/3 kg, w/w). As the amount of A. annua powder in rice cake dough increased, carbohydrate, ash content, total amino acid, and dietary fiber contents increased whereas the moisture content decreased. Hunter's L value decreased as A. annua powder content increased. On the contrary, the a- and b values increased. The sensory score of the rice cakes containing 30 g of A. annua powder was the highest of all the rice cakes tested. Based on these results, adding A. annua powder could improve the quality and sensory characteristics of rice cake.
