Injection molding is one of the widely used polymer processing operations. It is being used for not only conventional injection molding but gas injection molding, water injection molding, and injection compression molding. Injection compression molding involves injection and compression operation, and it gives uniform physical property and high dimensional quality of product. In this study, injection compression characteristics for various product shapes have been investigated by computer simulation. Product containing side wall showed not much effective in injection compression molding since wall thickness direction was perpendicular to the compression direction. Uniform and low shrinkage was observed in injection compression molding comparing conventional injection molding. Subsequently injection compression molding can be used for molding precise product. Optimal injection compression molding condition was obtained using design of experiment for plastic lens and the results were compared with conventional injection molding.

Fiber reinforced composite materials have various advantages in mechanical and chemical aspects. Not only high fatigue and chemical resistance, but also high specific strength and stiffness are attained, and therefore, damping characteristics are beneficial to marine piles. Since piles used for marine structures are subjected to compression and bending as well, detailed research is necessary. Current study examine the mechanical behavior under flexural and/or compressive loads using concrete filled fiber reinforced plastic composite piles, which include large size diameter. 25 pile specimens which have various size of diameters and lengths were fabricated using hand lay-up or filament winding method to see the effect of fabrication method. The inner diameters of test specimens ranged from 165 mm to 600 mm, and the lengths of test specimens ranged from 1,350 mm to 8,000 mm. The strengths of the fill-in concrete were 27 and 40 MPa. Fiber volumes used in circumferential and axial directions are varied in order to see the difference. For some tubes, spiral inner grooves were fabricated to reduce shear deformation between concrete and tube. It was observed that the piles made using filament winding method showed higher flexural stiffness than those made using hand lay-up. The flexural stiffness of piles decreases from the early loading stage, and this phenomenon does not disappear even when the inner spiral grooves were introduced. It means that the relative shear deformation between the concrete and tube wasn't able to be removed.

This study aimed at identifying and optimizing the heating-condition parameters that cause surface defects during the compression molding of chalcogenide glass (GeSbSe) lenses through thermal analysis. We derived the optimal heating conditions for molding chalcogenide glass lenses through thermal analysis and analyzed the surface defects. As a result, we observed a significant reduction in surface defects, which verified the analysis process.

Foamed glass was fabricated by using glass powder and foaming agents. For the glass powder, we used sodalime glass which's manufactured by using refused coal ore obtained as by-product from Dogye coal mine in Samcheok. And for the foaming agents, we used Calcium carbonate, Calcium phosphate and powder of shale type refused coal ore itself which has high content of carbon materials. We additionally used liquid binder for forming, and mixed together. And we formed rectangular shape and treated $800^{\circ}C$ for 20 min in an electrical furnace. The various kinds of foam glass samples were fabricated according to the kinds of foaming agents. The physical properties of samples, as specific gravity and compressive strength, were measured. Pore structure of each samples were investigated too. Foam glass with specific gravity of 0.4~0.7 and compressive strength of 30~72 kg/$cm^2$. Especially we get satisfying foam glass sample with low specific gravity of 0.47 and high compressive strength of 72 kg/$cm^2$ by the use of liquid calcium phosphate as foaming agent. It also had small and even shape of pore structure. Therefore, it is concluded that refused coal ore can be used for raw materials to manufacture secondary glass products such as a foamed glass panel for construction and industrial materials.
Paper packs, glass bottles, metal cans, and plastic materials are classified according to packaging material recycling groups that are Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). In the case of waste paper pack, the compressed cartons are dissociated to separate polyethylene films and other foreign substance, and then these are washed, pulverized and dried to produce toilet paper. Glass bottle for recycling is provided to the bottle manufacturers after the process of collecting the waste glass bottle, removing the foreign substance, sorting by color, crushing, raw materializing process. Waste glass recycling technology of Korea is largely manual, except for removal of metal components and low specific gravity materials. Metal can is classified into iron and aluminum cans through an automatic sorting machine, compressed, and reproduced as iron and aluminum through a blast furnace. In the case of composite plastic material, the selected compressed product is crushed and then recycled through melt molding and refined products are produced through solid fuel manufacturing steps through emulsification and compression molding through pyrolysis. In the recycling process of paper packs, glass bottles, metal cans, and plastic materials, the influx of recycled materials and other substances interferes with the recycling process and increases the recycling cost and time. Therefore, the government needs to improve the legal system which is necessary to use materials and structure that are easy to recycle from the design stage of products or packaging materials.

This study explores the compression molding of diffractive-aspheric lenses using GeSbSe chalcogenide glasses. A mold core with diffractive structure was prepared and a chalcogenide glass lens was molded at various temperatures using the corresponding core. The effect of molding temperature on the transcription characteristics of diffractive structure was examined, by measuring and comparing the diffractive structure between the mold core and the molded chalcogenide glass lens using a microscope and a white light interferometer. In addition, the applicability of the molded lens for thermal imaging was evaluated, by measuring the form error.
