A Study on the molecular structure and molecular weight control of styrene films by plasma polymerization (플라즈마 중합법에 의한 스티렌 박막의 분자 구조 및 분자량 제어에 관한 연구)

  • The plasma polymerized styrene films were prepared by using an inter-electrode capacitively coupled gas-flow-type reactor, and the effects of plasma polymerization condition on the molecular weight distribution were investigated by Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR), Pyrolysis Gas Chromatography(PyGC), Differential Scanning Calorimetry(DSC) and Gel Permeation Chromatography(GPC). From the above results, the very cross-linked films different from chemical characteristics of the starting monomer were taken out, and it is realized that the molecular structure, cross linking density, and molecular weight distribution could be controlled by changing the parameters such as deposition pressure, deposition power and gas flow rate. Accordingly, it is suggested that plasma polymerization method performed by inter-electrode capacitively coupled gas-flow-type reactor has good characteristics for manufacturing the functional organic thin films which can be applied in sensors, opto-electric device, photo-resist by changing the polymerization parameters.

  • The heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC) system is a very important part of an automotive vehicle: it controls the microclimate inside the passenger's compartment and removes the frost or mist that is produced in cold/rainy weather. In this study, the numerical analysis of the defrost duct in an HVAC system and the de-icing pattern is carried out using commercial CFX-code. The mass flow distribution and flow structure at the outlet of the defrost duct satisfied the duct design specification. For analyzing the de-icing pattern, additional grid generation of solid domain of ice and glass is pre-defined for conductive heat transfer. The flow structure near the windshield, streakline, and temperature fields clearly indicate that the de-icing capacity of the given defrost duct configuration is excellent and that it can be operated in a stable manner. In this paper, the unsteady changes in temperature, water volume fraction, and static enthalpy at four monitoring points are discussed.

The Study of Modified Sequencing Batch Reactor Process for Small Advanced Wastewater Treatment (소규모 고도하수처리를 위한 변형 연속회분식공정에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out to estimate the performance of modified sequencing batch reactor (SBR) process by the application of SBR process for small advanced wastewater treatment plant. Organic, nitrogen and phosphorus were able to remove in the unit reactor by SBR process and it would be able to select the suitable operation method. The plant was operated to achieve high performance with influent control, optimum anoxic/oxic condition using intermediate aeration method, and solid (sludge) /liquid (effluent) separation by modified decanter. The optimum operating mode was 3Cycles a day and intermediate input and aeration. Under these conditions, the treatment efficiencies were good with 60% of designed flow rate and low influent quality. When the influent concentrations of BOD and CODMn were 120.4 mg/L and 95.7 mg/L, respectively. The effluent concentrations of BOD and CODMn were 6.8 mg/L and 11.0 mg/L, respectively. The average removal efficiencies of BOD and CODMn were 94.4% and 88.5%, respectively. The removal efficiencies of T-N and T-P were 69.6% and 73.6%, respectively when the average T-N and T-P concentrations were 32.2mg/L and 4.65mg/L, respectively. The T-N and T-P removal efficiencies were slightly decreased to 58.8% and 68.5%, respectively in the winter season but its were also stable efficiencies. BOD, T-N and T-P were removed by 90%. 67% and 46% respectively in the first anoxic/oxic condition, in addition to T-P was removed by 70% in the second anoxic/oxic condition. From the results, modified sequencing batch reactor (SBR) process is suitable for small advanced wastewater treatment.

  • A power supply of cathode has been developed for hall-effect thruster for small satellite. A microwave cathode has been applied to the electric propulsion system and cathode power is necessary in oder to work securely. Anode current is varied by a flow rate controlled by anode tank pressure. Then cathode current has to be controled in proportion by anode current. So cathode power supply has been designed to offer a current proportional to anode current. Also cathode power has been tuned to work securely for cathode to emit more electron than anode within 0.03A. The function test of cathode power was performed by constructing an equivalent load for anode and cathode. It has been tested in a vacuum chamber in order to ensure a stable operation of the thruster. And it was confirmed that thruster normally has been operated in the space environment after the launch.

  • A dynamic simulation of a turbo-shaft engine was performed for analysis of transient-state and engine-starting characteristics using the MATLAB/SIMULINKTM. The turbo-shaft engine was modelled based on thermodynamic and rotor dynamic relations. The analysis of engine starting characteristics was performed by monitoring the rate of the pressure, temperature and mechanical torque changes along the engine stations by the torque input generated from the accessary power unit and transmitted to the power turbine. The simulation of the transient-state characteristics of the engine was performed under fuel flow rate increase from the steady-state condition. For the future study, engine control unit will be added to the basic turbo-shaft engine model to enhance capability of engine performance simulation.

  • actuator system은 조선, 제철, 석유화학 및 중공업 등 다양한 분야에서 각종 유량 및 공기압 등을 제어하는 밸브에 필수적으로 사용되는 핵심 부픔이다. 최근 유정 개발 등 해양구조물 설치 조절이 복잡화 되면서 본 부품이 해양산업에 사용되는 빈도가 증가하고 있다. 이 경우 본 부품이 염분이 많은 바닷물 또는 주변 환경에 직접 노출되기 때문에 내식성이 매우 엄격하게 관리되고 있다. 본 부품에 부식이 발생할 경우 control system의 작동을 지배하는 구성 품에 부식이 발생하여 actuator로서 기능을 상실하여 오동작이나 설비 가동이 중단되는 사례가 빈번하다. 현재 본 부품의 내식성 향상을 위해서는 금속기 표면에 페인트를 사용하는 방법이 가장 널리 사용되고 있는 방법이다. 이 경우 금속 표면과 도장 면과의 사이에 기포발생이나 이물질 유입 등으로 인한 밀착성이 감소되거나 blister 등으로 인하여 도장 코팅 면이 박리되는 사례가 빈번하다. 이를 방지하기 위해서 최근 고 밀착성 내식용 도장 방법을 적용하고 있으나, 이 방법으로 도장한 부품의 표면에 충격 등으로 인한 결함이 발생할 경우 pitting corrosion 등 급격한 부식이 발생하여 이에 대한 근본족인 대책 수립이 절실한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 근본적으로 금속기 표면과 밀착성이 우수한 화성피막 용액을 이용하여 희생양극에 의한 내식성을 확보하고, 다양한 용도에 적합한 색상 도료를 화성피말 위에 적용하여 화성피막 층의 보호 및 actuator의 목적에 맞는 도장을 하였다. 희생 양극효과를 극대화 할 수 있는 최적 화성피막 층은 $15{\mu}m$이며 이때 1,000시간 이상의 내식성을 확보하였다. 이 경우 이론적인 내식 수명은 2년으로 추정할 수 있었다.

  • The SSARR model adopting IS(integrated snowband) watershed model is applied to the Nakdong River basin for low flow analysis. The IS watershed model is added to new version of the SSARR which has functions of simulating evapotranspiration. infiltration and lower zone routing. It provides annual water budget information as an output file and can be operated by interactive mode. Sensitivity analysis for both cases of high and low flows was carried out, which becomes the knowledge base for model calibration. Model verification was performed using the relative errors of high flows and absolute errors of low flows at the control points. Monthly water budget analysis was done by IS watershed model. and it reveals that runoff coefficient is 52.6%

  • 농경지 중에서 밭은 논보다 농약 비료 사용률이 매우 높기 때문에 논에 비해 비점오염물질 배출량이 훨씬 심각한 것으로 조사되고 있어 밭경지 비점오염저감기법 개발 및 체계적인 제어대책 수립이 무엇보다도 절실하다. 현재 선진국을 중심으로 다양하게 제시되고 있는 밭경지 비점오염 제어기법들 중 초생대에 대한 성공적 연구사례 및 적용사례에 대한 자료가 상당히 많이 제시되고 있으나, 우리나라의 경우 초생대를 적용한 밭경지 비점오염저감에 대한 기술개발 및 체계적인 연구가 아직 미비한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 초생대의 현장설치 및 모니터링을 통해 초생대의 비점오염부하 저감효과에 대한 기초조사를 실시하고 우리나라 밭경지에서의 적용가능성을 알아보고자 한다. 초생대 현장 실험을 위한 시험포는 경상북도 군위군 효령면에 위치한 경북대 농생대 부속농장 밭경지 $1,500m^2$ (455평)를 선정하였다. 시험포는 1개의 대조구와 6개의 처리구로 구성하였으며, 각 시험구의 크기는 길이 12m ${\times}$ 폭 4m (초생대 길이 2m ${\times}$ 폭 4m 포함)로 하였다. 초생대 조성을 위한 초종선정은 초생대 조성이 용이하고 관리효율성이 높은 초종으로서 손쉽게 구할 수 있고, 우리나라 기후와 토양특성에 적합하며 초생대 기능에 부합한 것으로 선정하였다. 초생대 시험포장에 재배할 작물은 우리나라 대표 밭작물인 콩으로 선정하였으며, 작물재배를 위한 퇴비, 비료, 제초제 등은 농촌진흥청에서 제시한 표준재배법에 준하여 시용하였다. 초생대 비점오염저감효과를 평가하기 위해서 시험포장에 플륨, 수위계, 강우계 등으로 구성된 모니터링시스템을 설치하였으며, 플륨의 수위-유량 캘리브레이션을 실시하였다. 실험을 위해 2회의 인공강우와 1회의 자연강우에 대한 모니터링을 실시하였다. 그 결과 초생대 조성이 유출률에 상당한 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었다. 인공강우의 경우 초생대 설치에 따라 유출률의 범위가 14.5~95.8% 정도로 감소되는 현상을 보였으며, 자연강우에서도 6.1~11.3% 정도의 유출률 감소를 보였다. 초생대 시험구별 유출률에 차이를 나타낸 이유는 현장실험시의 시험구별 지면조건과 초생대 초종별 특성(초장, 경경, 밀도 등)의 차이에 기인한 결과로 사료되었다. 비점오염저감효과 측면에서는 기존 밭농사 방식을 그대로 채택한 대조구에 비해 초생대 시험구에서 TS의 경우 15.6~90.3%, T-P의 경우 49.9~87.8%, T-N의 경우 6.7~91.1%의 저감율을 각각 나타내었다. 이러한 결과들을 통해 초생대 기법이 우리나라 밭경지 비점오염부하를 저감시키는데 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Recent Developments and Field Application of Foreign Waterworks Automatic Meter Reading (국외 상수도 원격검침시스템의 개발 동향 및 현장 적용 사례 고찰)

  • The market trends of automatic meter reading associated with smart water meters were investigated. Also, recent developments and field applications of key technology for automatic meter reading associated with smart water meters were analyzed. Smart water meters have been manufactured mostly in United States and Europe and have been expanded their business to Asia. Integrated water management system combining with the additional functions such as real-time consumption metering, cost notification, water conservation, leak detection, water quality monitoring, and flow control have been operated in automatic meter reading. Both water quality and quantity data measured from smart water meters and sensors were transferred to data concentration units through neighborhood area network, and then were transferred to integrated server through wide area network. The data transfer methods were determined by comprehensively considering urban scale, density of smart water meters, power supply and network topologies. Common data collection methods such as fixed network to data concentation units, vehicles drive by, people walk by, and drone fly by have been applied. The automatic meter reading associated with smart water meters are spread throughout the world, and both water and energy savings result in saving the money and reducing the greenhouse gases emission.

Experimental Study on Compression/Absorption High-Temperature Hybrid Heat Pump with Natural Refrigerant Mixture (천연혼합냉매를 이용한 압축/흡수식 고온히트펌프의 실험적 연구)

  • This research concerns the development of a compression/absorption high-temperature hybrid heat pump that uses a natural refrigerant mixture. Heat pumps based on the compression/absorption cycle offer various advantages over conventional heat pumps based on the vapor compression cycle, such as large temperature glide, temperature lift, flexible operating range, and capacity control. In this study, a lab-scale prototype hybrid heat pump was constructed with a two-stage compressor, absorber, desorber, desuperheater, solution heat exchanger, solution pump, liquid/vapor separator, and rectifier as the main components. The hybrid heat pump system operated at 10-kW-class heating capacity producing hot water whose temperature was more than $90^{\circ}C$ when the heat source and sink temperatures were $50^{\circ}C$. Experiments with various $NH_3/H_2O$ mass fractions and compressor/pump circulation ratios were performed on the system. From the study, the system performance was optimized at a specific $NH_3$ concentration.
