Development of Induction Brazing System for Sealing Instrumentation Feedthrough Part of Nuclear Fuel Test Rig (핵연료조사리그 계장선 통과부위의 밀봉을 위한 유도 브레이징 시스템 개발)

  • To test the performance of nuclear fuels, coolant needs to be circulated through the test rig installed in the test loop. Because the pressure and temperature of the coolant is 15.5 MPa and $300^{\circ}C$ respectively, coolant sealing is one of the most important processes in fabricating a nuclear fuel test rig. In particular, 15 instrumentation cables installed in a test rig pass through the pressure boundary, and brazing is generally applied as a sealing method. In this study, an induction brazing system has been developed using a high frequency induction heater including a vacuum chamber. For application in the nuclear field, BNi2 should be used as a paste, and optimal process variables for Ni brazing have been found by several case studies. The performance and soundness of the brazed components has been verified by a tensile test, cross section test, and sealing performance test.

  • 소형 PEMFC(Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell)는 전기를 만들기 위해서 고순도의 수소를 필요로 한다. 각각의 마이크로 성형된 금속박판(스테인레스 스틸, 알루미늄)을 진공 브레이징법으로 접합하여 수소공급용 소형 개질기를 제작하였다. 마이크로 채널의 내부는 졸-겔법(스테인레스 스틸)과 양극산화법(알루미늄)으로 촉매를 지지하기 위한 다공성 $Al_2O_3$ 층을 형성시켰다. 스테인레스 스틸 박판은 에칭과 브레이징에 유리하였으나, 표면산화층 코팅을 균일하게 하여 안정적인 촉매반응을 유도하기 위한 균일한 표면 산화층 형성이 힘들었다. 반면 알루미늄 박판은 표면 산화층 형성이 상대적으로 용이했으며, 촉매를 상하지 않는 낮은 온도에서의 적층이 가능했다.

Characteristics of Brazed Joint of Sintered Bronze/steel Using Ag-Cu-Zn Type Filler Materials (Ag-Cu-Zn-Cd 계 용가재를 이용한 Bronze 소결체/강의 브레이징 접합부 특성 평가)

  • The study was carried out to examine in more detail metallurgical and mechanical properties of brazed joints of diamond cutting wheel. In this work, shank(mild steel) and sintered bronze-base tips were brazed with three different filler materials(W-40, BAgl and BAg3S). The machine used in this work was a high frequency induction brazing equipment. The joint thickness, porosities and microstructure of brazed joints with brazing variables(brazing temperature, holding time) were evaluated with OLM, SEM, EDS and XRD. Bending(torque) test was also performed to evaluate strength of brazed joints. Further wetting test was performed in a vacuum furnace in order to evaluate the wettability of filler metals on base metals9shank and tips). The brazing temperature had a strong influence on the joint strength and the optimum brazing temperature range was about $700~850^{\circ}C$ for the bronze/steel combinations. The strength of the brazed joint was found to be influenced by the three factors : degree of reaction region, porosity content, joint thickness. The reaction region was formed in the bronze-base tip adjacent to the joint. The reaction region resulted in a bad influence on the strength due to the formation of Cu5.6Sn, CuZn4, $\beta(CuZn)$ and CdAg, etc. Porosities increased as brazing variables(brazing temperature, holding time) increased, and the brazed joints with porosities of less than about 3-5% had an optimum strength for the bronze-base tip.

초고진공 펌프개발 -크라이오 펌프와 진공 브레이징의 이해-

  • 개요- 반도체 시장의 확대 및 소자의 고집적화와 장비의 초정밀화 등 고정도 생산성을 요구하는 현대 진공산업 시장에서는 정밀한 제품을 대량으로 생산할 수 있도록 지원할 수 있는 대용량 장비의 수요가 급증하고 있다. 서론- 하루가 다르게 발전하는 기술 경쟁 사회에서는 보다 성능이 좋은 제품을 다른 국가 또는 다른 업체와 차별화된 기술적 우위를 선점해야 한다. 본문-이에따라, 고신뢰도, 고생산성이 요구되는 진공산업 시장에 발맞추기 위한 일환으로 크라이오 펌프의 재생시간을 단축시켜 생산성 향상을 높이고, 기존의 제품에서 소비자가 느꼈던 진동을 최소로 줄일 수 있도록 저진동 제품의 설계를 통한 고객 만족의 제품을 개발함과 동시에, 맥동관 냉동기의 기술상업화를 꾀한 극저온기술 영역의 발전을 함께 도모하고자 한다. 현재까지는 국내의 일부 정부출연 연구소와 학교, 일부 특수산업 분야에서만 크라이오 펌프를 사용하고 있으나, 상업적인 설계 및 생산은 완전히 전무한 상태이다. 이는 진공시장의 잠재적인 성장을 고려할 때 국산화가 시급한 상황이다. 이러한, 상황을 고려하여 현재 기계연구원과 우성진공, 국민대학교가 맥동관 냉동기를 접목시킨 급속재생형 저진동 크라이오 펌프를 지난 2008년부터 산학연 협동으로 개발 진행 중에 있다. 크라이오 펌프의 핵심 기술은 냉동기의 효율에 있다고 볼 수 있으며, 이러한 냉동기의 효과를 높이기 위하여, 제작 공정에 진공 브레이징을 사용하여, 열교환기와 교환기 내의 충진재들과의 정확한 간극을 유지하면서 접합을 할 수 있는 환경요건을 지속적인 실험을 통해 지식을 습득하고 있다. 진공 브레이징은 외관을 아름답고 정교하게 접합할 수 있으므로, 추후 상품으로의 가치를 높일 수 있으며, 서로 다른 이종금속 간의 접합이 가능하여 열교환기의 무산소동과 스테인레스 튜브와의 접합을 가능하게 할 수 있었다. 진공브레이징에 쓰이는 모재는 여러가지가 있으며, 접합의 환경 또한 일반 용접보다 다양하므로 여러번의 실험을 통한다면, 성능은 우수하면서 외관으로 손색이 없는 개발품이 나올수 있겠다는 의견이 모아지고 있는 중이다. 본론- 아직까지는 미국의 CTI사나 일본의 ULVAC 등의 크라이오 펌프의 선진 기업에 비해 기술력이 많이 부족하기는 하지만, 아직 많은 부분이 미개발된 분야이고, 향후 후발국과의 차별을 두어 선진기술을 확보하기 위해서는 기존의 방식을 단순히 따라하는 것이 아닌 남들과 다른 원천기술의 확보가 더 필요하며, 이를 위해 부단한 노력과 시행착오를 거쳐 맥동관 냉동기형 크라이오 펌프라는 기술을 확보할 예정이다.

Optimized Brazing Conditions of Regenerative Cooling Thrust Chambers (재생 냉각용 연소기의 최적 브레이징 조건)

  • The brazing of copper alloys and duplex stainless steels is an indispensable manufacturing technology for thrust chambers with regenerative cooling. For setting up the optimized brazing conditions, C18200 copper alloy plate with machined cooling channels and S31803 stainless steel plate are brazed with AMS4764 filler metals of which thickness is 50${\mu}m$ and 80${\mu}m$ They are tested by X-ray radiography, strength/leakage and fracture tests, and fracture surface inspection. The results obtained by the suggested conditions are that the specimen brazed with filler metal thickness of 50${\mu}m$ has good strength properties and brazed zone. However, the specimen with filler metal thickness of 80${\mu}m$ has the brazed zone with cooling channel obstruction and enlargement.

  • A vacuum brazed cooling passage for an aircraft engine controller was designed. In order to predict the total pressure loss, which is the main design factor of the cooling passage, theoretical and numerical methods for the major loss and the minor loss considering the overall shape of the cooling passage are presented. This design and evaluation method can predict the pressure loss of the complex cooling passage shape for various flow conditions at the initial design step.

  • Titanum and its alloys have been used as the important materials of eyewear frame due to its light weight, mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. This study investigates hardness and microstructures of titanum alloy groove wires in according with heating time by high frequency induction heating. Because of increase of grain size by the growth of heating time, hardness of ${\beta}-Ti$ has reduced. Hardness of Ti-325 reduced until 2 sec and rapidly increased at 3 sec by high frequency induction heating. It is observed that hardness of Ti-325 reduces by the increase of the grain size until 2 sec and suddenly increased by the development of the detailed ${\alpha}+{\beta}$ lamella at 3 sec.

  • The Properties of material, C18200 which is used for development of high performance liquid rocket engine combustor chamber were obtained by tension tests. The specimen for regenerative combustor was designed by structural analysis using that Properties. After the designed specimen was manufactured by the same manufacturing process of regenerative combustor. the yielding stress and yielding strain were obtained by strength tests. The properties of C18200 was degraded very much after brazing. The estimation of yielding pressure by structural analysis was almost same as that of strength test. The collector Part was yielded and failed previously than that of cooling channel part during strength test.

  • Abstract The increasing application of $Al_2$,$O_3$ and related ceramics as engineering materials is because of their attractive properties of fine ceramics. One solution to the wide variety of ceramic to metal combination lies in the effective joining. Active metal brazing of $Al_2$,$O_3$, to STS304 was investigated using Cu -Ti alloys. Titanium additive is chosen since it is good oxide former~. Brazing is performed under vacuum($10^{-3}$-$10^{-4}$ torr), a temperature between 1100 and 120$0^{\circ}C$ and time of 0.5-1.5hr. The microstructure of the brazed joints of $Al_2$,$O_3$ to STS304 with Cu-Ti insert metals were examined by using optical microscope and SEM and reaction products were analyzed by using EDX, WDX and XRD. Also interfacial reactions occuring during the brazing of $Al_2$,$O_3$/Cu-Ti/STS304 system are discussed. Experimental results showed formation of Titanium oxide T$i_2$$O_3$ which is attributable to the joining $Al_2$,$O_3$ to STS304 with Cu-Ti insert metal.

Study on the material properties and heating efficiency according to the internal surface coating of the brazed plate heat exchanger (BPHE) (접합 판형 열교환기(BPHE)의 내부 코팅에 따른 소재 특성 및 성능 평가에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, a silane-based coating was applied to improve corrosion resistance and thermal efficiency performance of a brazed plate heat exchanger (BPHE) composed of stainless plate and copper (Cu) brazing. Although the selected coating material was applied to the BPHE by evaluating the corrosion and contact angle according to the coating material, the result of the heat transfer performance evaluation showed that the thermal efficiency was lower than that of the uncoated BPHE. It was analyzed that the adhesion of the coating agent to the flow path inside the BPHE and the residual coating agent on the surface acted as heat resistance, preventing heat transfer. This is due to the structural characteristics of the BPHE in which a fine flow path exists inside, and it is believed that manufacturing after coating the surface of the flow path in advance in the manufacturing process of the BPHE can improve heat transfer performance.
