Properities and Effects of Utilizable Materials for Organic Farming in Rice (벼 재배시 유기농업 활용자재의 특성 및 효과)

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects and properties of organic materials, the fermented fowl droppings composts and the top viviparous malleatuses, utilizable for rice farming. At the 35th day after transplanting, the growth of rice plants was good in the order of organic farming, combined farming, conventional farming, and control plot. But stem number and dry weight of rice plant in organic farming decreased a little compared to those in conventional farming at the 65th day after transplanting. Rice yield decreased by 7% in organic farming and by 4% in combined farming compared to those of conventional farming. Weeding effect by inoculation of 5kg or 10kg of the top viviparous malleatuses per 10a was similarly 96% at the immediately inoculation after transplanting, 98.6% at the 7th days inoculation after transplanting and 70% at the 15th days inoculation after transplanting. By inoculation of 5kg per 10a at the 7th day and the 15th day after transplanting, rice yields decreased by 2% and 5%, respectively, compared to those of the conventional farming method. From the above results, it seems that the organic farming and the combined farming are useful and the inoculation of the top viviparous malleatuses is effective for control of weeds as the environmental preservation farming.

Impacts of Different Organic Fertilizers on Soil Fertility and Soil Respiration for a Corn (Zea mays L.) Cropping System (옥수수 밭에서 유기질 비료가 토양 비옥도 및 토양 호흡에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to promote organic fertilizer(s) that sustain soil productivity for corn production and protect the environment as required by the Act on the promotion of eco-friendly agriculture. It was conducted at the research station of the Organic Agriculture Division of the National Institute of Agricultural. The treatments consisted of Compost (Com), Bokashi as fermented organic fertilizer (FOF), and mixed expeller pressed cake (PC). They were applied at 174 kg N /ha to field corn, together with a 'no fertilizer' check in Randomized Complete Block Design. At eight weeks after transplanting (WAT) corn, compost increased soil carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) to 7.48 and 0.76 g/kg respectively, while other fertilizers maintained the initial levels (before treatment application). At corn harvest (13 WAT), soil chemical properties (total C, total N, pH, electrical conductivity, P2O5, Ca, K, and Mg) were similar among all organic fertilizer treatments. For soil respiration, FOF increased soil CO2 respiration by 31-76% above other fertilizer treatments. However, there were no prominent changes in the trends of CH4 fluxes following the two mechanical weeding operations. Fermented organic fertilizer affected N2O emissions between 87-96% lower than other fertilizer treatments. Compared to the initial microbial densities, FOF increased fungi and actinomycete colony foming unit by 25 and 16% at harvest. Therefore, the additional potential of improving soil biological fertility and local availability of raw materials make FOF a better option to sustain soil productivity while protecting the environment.

Suppressive Effects of Homemade Environment-friendly Materials on Alternaria Blight and Anthracnose of Ginseng (친환경자재를 이용한 인삼 점무늬병과 탄저병의 발병억제효과)

  • This study was performed to evaluate the suppressive effects of organic fungicides made using environment-friendly materials on leaf spot disease and anthracnose that infect ginseng. Anthracnose (Colletotrichum gloeosporioides) and leaf spot disease (Alternaria panax) are principal diseases that decrease the yield of ginseng by defoliation before root enlargement. Fermented eggs and oyster shells, water extract of green tea and ethanol extract of red ginseng dregs were significantly effective in suppressing leaf spot disease. Fermented crab and shrimp shells and fermented motherwort were also effective in suppressing the recurrence of ginseng anthracnose. The preventive effects of these environment-friendly materials were definitely superior to the therapeutic effects. Therefore, these materials could be used as alternatives to chemical pesticides, which can not be applied in organic ginseng cultivation field. These organic fungicides need to be applied before the incidence of ginseng anthracnose in order to maximize their suppressive effects.

Control Effect of Alternative Fungicide Spraying System on Powdery Mildew Caused by Podosphaera xanthii on Greenhouse Cucumber (약제교호살포에 따른 시설재배 오이 흰가루병(Podosphaera xanthii) 방제효과)

  • Powdery mildew caused by Podosphaera xanthii is a disease in cucurbit crops especially in green house. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of alternative fungicide spraying system for control of powdery mildew disease. We selected four fungicides with different mode of action and made three treatment combinations of each fungicide in 2017. Pyraclostrobin-flutianyl-penthiopyrad treatment showed the highest control value (87%) while, pyraclostrobin-pyraclostrobin-pyraclostrobin treatment showed the lowest control value (32.5%). So it seemed like the treatment was not suitable for control of powdery mildew. In 2018, pyraclostrobin of pyraclostrobin-flutianyl-penthiopyrad was replaced to contact fungicide called iminoctadine-tris-albesilate and compared control effect of two treatments. Two of the treatments showed similar control value (87.0% for pyraclostrobin, 89.0% for iminoctadine-tris-albesilate). These two tests in 2017 and 2018 indicated that alternative treatment of different fungicides is essential for controlling of powdery mildew and inhibiting development of fungicide resistance.

Difference of Nutritional Content on Liquid Fertilizer by Artificial Soil for Organic Farming in Pepper (고추 유기농 인공상토재배 시 액비처리에 따른 영양성분 차이)

  • 고추는 생식, 김치재료로 우리나라 사람이 가장 많이 식용하는 건강채소로 기능성 물질함량을 높이고자 관심이 고조되고 있다. 본 연구는 항산화 물질향상을 위한 유기농자재의 적정 농도를 구명하고자 P1(대조), P2(고추액비+산야초(4종)+약초(3종)+해초(4종)+스테비아), P3(고추), P4(고추액비+산야초(3종)+약초(3종)+해초(감태, 함초, 지총), 마늘, 쑥) 등 4처리하였다. 시험재료는 고추"전력질주"품종을 이용하여 완주지방에서 2월 19일 파종하였고 5월10일에 인공상토를 이용하여 30 cm 화분에 정식하였다. 농자재 처리에 따른 영양성분 분석은 8월 10일에 적색고추를 수확하여 농업기술실용화 재단에서 분석하였다. 유기농자재 액비처리별 베타카로틴은 P2처리에서 69%정도 높은 경향이었으나 통계적 유의성은 나타나지 않았는데, 개체 간 수분차이가 다르기 때문에 나타난 것이라고 생각되었다. 비타민c, 플라보노이드, 폴리페놀은 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다. 캡사이신, 디캡사이신은 대조구에서 가장 높게 나타났다. 액비처리별 고추 생육특성은 초장, 엽장, 엽폭, 마디수 등은 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 한편, 품종은 다르지만, 베타카로틴 등 항산화물질의 평균함량이 다른 년도에 비하여 상당이 적게 나타났다. 이것은 주로 토양, 온도환경 등이 다르기 때문에 나타난 것이라고 생각되었다. 따라서 유기농자재 액비에 따른 고추 영양성분과 항산화 물질연구는 토양, 온도, 수분, 광합성 등 환경조건의 종합적인 연구가 필요하다고 생각되었다.

Effects of Fermented Mixed Organic Fertilizer Utilizing By-Products on Soil Properties and the Yield of Organic Lettuce (부산물 활용 발효 유기질비료 처리에 따른 유기 상추 토양 특성 및 수량에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aimed to develop an alternative organic fertilizer to castor oil cake-based fertilizers. To assess the nutrient effect of the developed fermented mixed organic fertilizers, the yield of lettuce and soil characteristics after growth were analyzed and compared to those of a trial using a mixed expeller cake fertilizer. Two fermented mixed organic fertilizers, FA and FB, each containing 5.0% nitrogen, 2.6% phosphate, and 1.4% potassium, were produced by mixing different ratios of rice bran, dried distillers grains, sesame oil meal, and fish meal. This study was conducted with six trials: untreated, mixed expeller cake fertilizer, and the fermented mixed organic fertilizers FA and FB. Based on the amount of nitrogen fertilization (70 kg ha-1) on the lettuce, the fermented mixed organic fertilizers FA and FB were applied at 100% and 150%, respectively, and the mixed oil cake was applied at 100%. As the amount of treatment increased, there was no significant difference except the number of leaves in FA treatment. The yields from the FA100 and FB100 treatments were 38.2 and 40.8 Mg ha-1, respectively, which was not significantly different from that of the mixed expeller cake fertilizer treatment at 38.3 Mg ha-1. In addition, the nitrogen uptake and utilization efficiency of the lettuce were not significantly different between mixed expeller cake fertilizer and fermented mixed organic fertilizer treatments. Analysis of the chemical properties of the soil after the trial showed that he mixed expeller cake fertilizer treatment showed the lowest pH. There were no significant differences in electrical conductivity, content of soil organic matter, available phosphate, and exchangeable cation among the fertilizer treatments. However, the bacterial and actinomyces density was higher in the soil from the fertilizer trials than in the non-fertilizer trials. These results indicated that the two tested fermented mixed organic fertilizers had nourishing effects and soil characteristics that were similar to those of the mixed expeller cake fertilizer. Thus, farmers can use these fermented mixed organic fertilizers as alternatives to castor oil cakes for the cultivation of organic lettuce.

The Recycling of Nutrient Balance from Small Oranic farming System in Korea (소규모 유기농가단위 경축연계 자원순환 모델연구(I))

  • 우리나라에서 농가단위 경축순환농업 모델에 대한 조사와 농장내 순환구조에서 양분수지를 조사한 사례도는 미미한 실정이다. 이에 경축연계 자원순환 유기농업농가의 실천사례 발굴하고, 실천모델별 축산형태 및 경종형태를 조사하여 경종부분의 양분순환과 양분수지를 조사하고자 하였다. 발굴된 농가단위 경축순환농업 사례는 3가지 형태로 모두 한우를 11~21두 범위에서 사육하는 동시에 $15,510m^2$의 밭농사를 수행하는 농가, $8,019m^2$의 밭농사와 $8,250m^2$ 논농사를 동시에 수행하는 농가, $26,400m^2$의 논농사만 수행하는 농가들이었다. 각 모델에서 배합사료는 모두 외부에서 구입하고 있었으며 조사료의 자급율은 25 ~ 100%인 것으로 조사되었다. 특히, 한우 20두와 논농사 $26,400m^2$를 경영하는 농가에서 조사료(볏짚)의 100%를 자급하였고 동시에 한우사육과정에서 발생한 자급퇴비를 전량 논농사에 사용하여 유기농 벼농사를 유지하고 있었다. 밭농사를 함께 수행하는 농가에서는 자급퇴비 외에 외부로부터 유박비료 및 발효유기질비료를 구입하여 양분을 충당하고 있었다. 각 농가의 토양이화학성을 분석한 결과 pH는 5.49~7.61, 유기물 함량은 1.37~1.40%, 유효인산 함량 253.32~329.63 mg/kg, 칼륨 0.24~0.3, 칼슘 3.97~10.1, 마그네슘 0.89~1.77 $Cmol^+$/kg, CEC는 7.92~11 $Cmol^+$/kg 이었므며 토양내 잔류농약은 검출되지 않았다. 농가별로 발생한 우분퇴비의 성분 분석결과는 전질소 0.68 ~ 0.73%, 전인산 0.68 ~ 0.86%, 칼륨 0.70~0.78% 수준이었다. 각 사례농가별 투입한 실제시비량, 토양분석결과와 사용된 자재의 성분 분석결과를 이용한 시비처방법에 따른 시비량 및 표준시비법에 따른 시비량을 산출하여 3요소의 양분수지를 계산하였다. 이와 함께 유기질비료의 무기화율을 감안한 시비량도 산출하였다. 양분수지를 분석한 결과 3농가 모두 실제시비량은 3요소 모두 초과 되는 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 인산과 칼륨이 2배정도 초과되는 경향을 보였다. 그러나 투입된 자급퇴비 및 유기질비료의 무기화율을 감안한 시비량으로 환산할 경우에는 질소성분이 3농가 모두 부족한 것으로 산출되었으며, 인산과 가리 성분은 충분하거나 초과되는 것으로 계산되었다. 농장내 축산경영을 통해 발생하는 자급퇴비만을 이용할 경우에 경종부문의 양분수지를 산출한 결과를 보면 실제시비량 기준으로 질소는 56~186%, 인산은 90~346%, 칼륨은41~221%로 양분수지가 달라졌으며, 무기화를 감안한 기준으로는 질소는 16~53%, 인산은 52~197%, 칼륨은 41~221%로 양분수지가 달라졌다. 소규모 유기농가단위 경축연계 자원순환 모델 연구를 통해 유기경종농업이 유지될 수 있으나, 3요소별 양분수지의 불균형이 발생할 수 있는 것으로 조사되었으며, 유기질비료의 특성상 무기화율을 감안한 시비량을 적용할 경우에는 질소 성분의 부족과 동시에 인산, 칼륨 성분의 과다가 예측되었다. 따라서 이러한 성분의 불균형을 조정할 시비체계 연구가 필요한 것으로 판단되었다. 본 연구는 농촌진흥청의 "유기가축사양 및 유기 순환체계모델" 연구사업의 세부과제로 수행한 1년차 결과입니다.

Application Effects of Fermented Mixed Organic Fertilizer Utilizing By-Products on Yield of Chinese Cabbage and Soil Environment (부산물 활용 발효 유기질비료가 배추 수량 및 토양환경에 미치는 영향)

  • This study analyzes the effects of mixed fermented organic fertilizer on chinese cabbage growth and soil properties in order to investigate the nutritional effects of organic fertilizers, which are developed as an alternative fertilizer for imported castor oil cake. In this study, four treatments were set up: 100% and 200% rate of nitrogen application (320 kg ha-1 for Chinese cabbage) on mixed fermented organic fertilizer A(FA) and mixed fermented organic fertilizer B(FB), respectively, 100% rates of the mixed expeller cake (MEC) fertilizer, and the untreated control. Results revealed that the growth and yield of Chinese cabbage increased as more fermented organic fertilizer was used. However, while there were no significant differences in growth characteristics between treatments of 100% rate of mixed fermented organic fertilizer and 100% rate of MEC, the impacts on yields resulted similar. The nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) of Chinese cabbage was measured a range of 20-31% depending on the response to treatment. The 100% FA showed the same as NUE and nitrogen absorption with 100% rate of MEC. Regarding soil properties after cultivation, there were no significant differences among the effects of fertilizers in pH, EC, soil organic matter, and available phosphate. However, the content of exchangeable cations(K, Ca, Mg) was higher in areas treated with mixed fermented organic fertilizer than in untreated areas. Furthermore, the bacterial population density in the soil was higher in areas treated with mixed fermented organic fertilizer than in untreated areas and increased as more mixed fermented organic fertilizer was used. There were no significant differences in the population density of actinomycetes and fungi when fertilizer was applied to the soil. These results also show that FA, as a alternative organic fertilizer for imported castor oil cake, has similar nutritional effects as that of MEC. Therefore, further research the appropriate amounts of fertilizer is required to achieve economical and eco-friendly nutrient management.

Effect of Mulch Application using Different Organic Materials on Growth of Young Jujube Trees and Weed Suppression (유기멀칭재료 처리에 따른 대추 유목의 생육과 잡초억제에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to elucidate the effects of organic mulching materials on the weed inhibition and the growth of young jujube (Zizyphus jujuba Miller) trees from 2012 to 2013. Four organic mulching materials (rice straw, rice hull, sawdust and wood chip) were treated on jujube tree field in 2012. The range of weed control values was 96~98% in 2012. In 2013, the weed control values of rice straw, rice hull, sawdust and wood chip mulching were 7%, 60%, 27%, and 79%, respectively. The growth of young jujube trees was highest in wood chip mulching, whereas that in rice hull mulching was lowest. These results suggest that wood chip can be useful as a mulching material for weed control in jujube orchards.
