The Suh and Park's analytical model. originally developed to calculate wave reflection from a conventional fully perforated caisson breakwater, is applied to a partially perforated caisson breakwater by approximating the vertical wall of the lower part of the front face of the caisson as a very steep sloping wall. Also, in the model, the inertial resistance term at the perforated wall is modified by using the blockage coefficient proposed by Kakuno and Liu. The model is compared against the hydraulic experimental data reported by Park et al. in 1993. Both the experimental data and the analytical model results show that the influence of inertial resistance is important so that wave reflection becomes minimum when B/L. is approximately 0.2 (in which R : wave chamber width, and 1, : wave length inside the wave chamber), which is somewhat smaller than the theoretical value B/L, : 0.25 obtained by assuming that the influence of inertial resistance is negligible. It is also shown that the analytical model based on a linear wave theory tends to overpredict the reflection coefficient as the wave nonlinearity increases, thus the model is preferably to be used for ordinary waves of small steepness.

In general, the caisson having the perforated wall is used to for the purpose of reducing the wave reflection and wave overtopping. In this study, the hydraulic characteristics (reflection coefficient) of the perforated wall caisson chamber filled with aggregates (rocks) were investigated with hydraulic model tests. When the perforated wall chambers were filled with aggregates, the reflection coefficients would increase. However, it was confirmed that the rock filling method into the perforated wall chamber could secure the stability of the structures and satisfy the hydraulic characteristics at a certain level.

Recently, various types of perforated breakwaters are being constructed for protecting offshore storm waves. In general, perforated breakwaters have wave chambers with perforated walls at seaside. Purposes of the wave chambers are to reduce wave reflections and maximum wave forces acting on the breakwater. Impact wave forces due to wave breaking can attack to the perforated wall directly, so the effects have to be considered in the design of the perforated wall carefully. Using resonance channels for wave energy dissipation, a new concept perforated breakwater is proposed, which is free from impact loads. Numerical simulation was made for wave reflection characteristics of the breakwater with respect to major design parameters. Numerical analysis was carried out using the Galerkin's FE model based on the linear potential theory considering energy dissipation on the perforated plate. Variations of wave reflection was investigated according to perforated ratios of perforated plate.
In this study, the optimal slit length of perforated wall with single chamber below the still water level (SWL) is studied through the two dimensional test. The relationship between the reflection coefficient and the shape of structures such as chamber width(B) and slit length(S) are investigated by applying the various wave conditions. The random waves were used for the test by using Bretschneider-Mitsuyasu frequency spectrum. Minimum reflection coefficient is obtained at $B/L_s{\approx}0.15$ condition, this result is different from the regular wave condition. Also the minimum reflection coefficients are measured at $S/H_s{\approx}2.5$. This means that the optimal slit length below the still water level is 2.5 times of the incident wave height.

Hydraulic experiments were performed in order to gain an insight into the quantitative differences between the perforated wall caisson and its solid wall counterpart in the local pressure distribution and caisson stability. The results showed that the wave forces acting on local walls were smaller in the perforated wall caisson than in the solid wall caisson. For the caisson stability, the critical weights of the perforated wall caisson also turned out to be smaller than those of the solid wall caisson. The Phenomenon was attributed to the dual effects inherent to the perforated wall caisson, which are the decrease of total horizontal force and the phase difference between the total horizontal and vertical forces.

In this study, a new concept perforated breakwater is proposed, which is having resonant channels. In the channel, perforated plate is installed for dissipating wave energy induced by flow separations. The breakwater has two advantages compared with conventional perforated breakwater having wave chamber with slotted walls. One is easy to control the target wave condition for dissipating wave energy, and the other is having the high structural safety because the structural members are not exposed to impact waves, directly. To evaluate wave reflection characteristics of the proposed breakwater, numerical experiment was carried out by using Galerkin's finite element model based on the linear potential theory. The results indicated that considerable energy dissipation occurs near the resonant period of channel, and wave reflection characteristics are affected by channel shape, location and opening ratio.
Both hydraulic and dynamic characteristics of a single perforated wall are studied theoretically and experimentally. Theoretically, the effect of evanescent modes on wave force acting on a single perated wall is studied by use of the Horiguchi theory. The wave force on the perforated wall is presented to be insensitive to evanescent modes. According to experimental study, The larger perforation ratio(${\gamma}$) grows, the weaker the wave force on the wall becomes sensitively. And in the small value of l/D (ratio of wall thickness(l) to hole diameter(D)) where the holes on the wall are regarded as orifice, the wave force on the wall is insensitive to the variation of l/D. Energy loss coefficient f is estimated at 1.0 in this small value of l/D by use of Horiguchi theory. But in the large value of l/D where the holes are regarded as pipe, the wave force on the wall is relatively sensitive to the variation of l/D and f is estimated at 1.5 by use of Horiguchi theory.

We applied a commercially available computational fluid dynamics model, FLOW-3D, to design a settling basin inlet structure for the intended O sewage plant. In addition, we analyzed the extent to which the inlet sewage water was distributed as a result, firstly, of the location and width of a submerged baffle wall and, secondly, of the opening ratio of a baffle wall with opening holes. The application results show that the flow is unstable due to the generation of eddies in both sides of the submerged baffle wall when the submerged baffle wall is located close to the inlet. The eddies and subsequent instability also occur when the submerged baffle wall is located close to the baffle wall with opening holes. Moreover, the discharge that passes through the midsection of the settling basin increases as the width of the submerged baffle wall increases. At the O sewage plant, when the submerged baffle wall with a width of 2.4 m was located 2 m from the inlet structure and the opening ratio of the baffle wall was 7 percent, the most satisfactory distribution of the inlet sewage water occurred at the entrance of the settling basin.

Design formula for estimating the wave loading on the perforated caisson having two wave chambers is yet available. In this study, the analysis results are presented with the experimental data for the wave force acting on such a breakwater model. Based on the experimental results, it was able to clarify the variation of wave action according to five different wave phases that are associated with peak wave loading at the three vertical walls. Then the force adjustment factor for double-chamber caisson was estimated, similarly as Takahashi and Shimosako (1994), which needs to be further validated with subsequent experiments and practical application in the field.
This study was attempted aimed to prepare of Andong sikhe by pure culture inoculation and to improve storage stability by the addition of stabilizers to the product. Lactobacillus delbreuckii was selected for pure culture inoculation in the fermentation. The effect of stabilizers on the sedimentation, sensory evaluation and viscosity of Sikhe were investigated during the fermentation of traditional Andong Sikhe stored at $4^{\circ}C$ Morphological characteristics of Sikhe were determined by scanning electromicrograpy. Among the stabilizers added to the traditional Andong sikhe Na-alginate was found to be best stabilizers. When the product was evaluated by the sensory panel, the addition of stabilizers up to 0.1% level actually increased the acceptability of the product, while the concentration of more than 0.2% stabilizers affected the acceptability of the negatively. Sikhe added Na-carboxymethyl cellulose and Na-alginate showed highest viscosity on the 2nd day of fermentation, while homogenized Andong sikhe with Carrageenan showed the highest peak in viscosity on the first day of fermentation. Lactic acid bacterial count reached to $3.2{\times}10^8/ml$ after 20 days of storage. The surface and cross section of rice was observed by scanning electron microscope. As the fermentation proceeded holes on the surface increased, and nearly empty cell wall remained at the later stage of fermentation. Use of pure cultured inoculum of L. delbreuckii supported the rapid build up of the lactic acid bacteria and consequently the whole process of the fermentation was shortened. The acceptability and product quality were improved by use of L. delbreuckii inoculum.
