Design and Development of Large Electric Curtain Control System for Time Controlled (대형전동커튼 타임제어 시스템 설계 및 개발)

  • The purpose of this paper is to design a curtain control system for centralized management of large curtains, which includes curtain structure, electric curtain controller, communication system, user interface and remote control. Curtain structure is designed to avoid using limit switch. The system is based on microprocessor, determined the stop position and complete running time of electric curtain through time control, and achieved remote control of curtain opening and closing through wired and wireless communication modes. By establishment of a mathematical model to calculate the inertia compensation time of the electric curtain, the electric curtain can be stopped ahead of time, and the curtain can be completely closed by the inertia. The result of test experiment of 32 electric curtain controllers shows the communication success rate reached 100%.

A Comparative Study on Adsorption of PCB Congeners in Mineral Oil by Activated Carbon (활성탄에 의한 광유내 PCB Congeners의 흡착에 관한 비교 연구)

  • The sorption kinetic was studied to evaluate feasibility of removing PCBs from mineral oil with activated carbon. Adsorption efficiency for Aroclor 1242 which is composed of lower chlorinated PCB formulations was $\geq$ 95%, whereas the adsorption efficiency for Aroclor 1260 having higher chlorinated constituents was considerably lower with the efficiency falling to 75%. The observed difference in the adsorption efficiency is attributed to the geometry of PCBs with non-planar and coplanar structure. The concentration of coplanar PCBs is appreciably higher in Aroclor 1242. Since toxicity is primarily associated with coplanar congeners, the preferential adsorption of coplanar congeners by activated carbon accounts for the fact that toxicity reduction can be achieved through this process. The efficiency of process was assessed in terms of Toxicity Equivalence Factor (TEF).

  • The ATM-PON is regarded as an effective access network because the system transmits the various user's information through the passive optical splitter in a single platform. The ranging technology is to place all ONUs at the same distance virtually in order to form ATM-PON based on the Time Division Multiplexing (TDM). In This paper, We show the steps about ranging protocol based on ITU-T G.983.1 and ranging procedure modeling. Also, We implement the simulator that considers various environments to verify the time specifications of G.983.1. By using the simulator, We find out the wasted bandwidth which influences active ONUs during the ranging procedure.

  • Desmoplastic fibroma of bone is an extremely rare tumor that was first described by Jaffe in 1958. It histologically resembles the desmoid tumor of soft tissue. It is known as locally aggressive tumor but we experienced definitely benign and resembling simple bone cyst radiographically. We report a case of desmoplastic fibroma of bone and it should be included in the differential diagnosis list of any lytic bone lesion. The radiograph, MR imaging features, radiological and pathological differential diagnosis of the case are described, and literatures are reviewed.

Removal of Diazinon and Heavy Metals in Water by Benthic Macroinvertebrate (저서성 대형무척추동물을 이용한 수중의 다이아지논 및 중금속 제거)

  • The midge samples were undertaken at three streams, representing different surrounding environments, to investigate the contaminant exposure of midge. The content of heavy metals in midge collected in Singil stream were generally higher as a result of input to the industrial effluents with respect to other streams. Adsorption experiments were done to evaluate the possibility of removing contaminants from water with midge. Diazinon and heavy metals were contaminant target compounds in this study. The removal rate of diazinon in water by midge was 60-75%. In the case of Cu, the removal rate was reached around 90% at the lower initial concentration of 1.87 and 0.81 ppm rather than 4.25 ppm. The reduction of concentration of Cr and Cd according to the lapse of time was similar to the Cu, but their removal rates were shown 50% and 60-74%, respectively. The removal rate of Zn by midge represented relatively high level within the experimental condition. No change in concentration of Cr and As with time were occurred at all experimental conditions. It accounts for the fact that the reduction of Cr and As could not be achieved through the adsorption process, using midge.

  • 초고속 인터넷 서비스가 널리 보급된 상황에서 서비스 품질과 콘텐츠의 사용 대역 증가 현상이 날로 가속화되고 있다. 이에 따라 전송속도가 거리에 제한받지 않는 광통신 기술이 품질과 대역 조건을 만족시키는 가입자 액세스망 기술로 각광 받고 있다. 현재는 점대점(point-to-Point) 광통신 기술을 이용한 광 대역서비스가 제공되고 있으나, 밀집 지역과 분산 지역 그리고 음영 지역의 각 가입자 단까지 고가의 광선로를 포설해야 하는 경제적 부담을 주고 있다. PON(Passive Optical Network) 기술은 점대점 광통신 기술에서 제기되는 경제적 비효율성을 극복하고, 더 나아가 FTTC, FTTB에서 FTTH로의 진화를 용이하게 하는 점대다점(point-to-multipoint) 광통신 기술이다. PON 기술은 ATM 기반의 B-PON(Broadband-PON) 방식과, Ethernet 기반의 E-PON(Ethernet-PON) 방식이 현재 상용화 단계에 있으며, 이 방식들은 상하향 데이터 전송을 위해 단일 파장을 사용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 PON 기술동향 및 발전전망에 대해 알아보고, B-PON 및 E-PON 기술 분석한 뒤, 국내 환경에 가장 적합한 서비스 제공 방안을 제안하고자 한다.

Performance Analysis of a Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation Scheme for improving the delay of the real time traffic in an EPON (EPON에서 실시간 트래픽의 지연성능 향상을 위한 동적 대역할당방안의 성능분석)

  • In this paper, we deal with an effective dynamic bandwidth allocation(DBA) scheme in order to support the qualify of services (QoS) in the customer access network which supports various applications with own service requirements. we discuss the DBA scheme for upstream traffic in the EPON which support both the delay sensitive traffic such as voice and real-time video and non-real time traffic such as data and BE. We propose the new DBA scheme which guarantee the delay performance of the real time traffic and utilize the upstream bandwidth effectively in the limited resource environment. We analize the delay performance of the proposed scheme by simulation.

Photodegradation of Endosulfan alpha, beta, and sulfate in Aqueous Solution by UV Irradiation Only (자외선 조사에 의한 수용액 중에 함유되어 있는 엔도설판 alpha, beta, sulfate의 광분해)

  • Photodegradation of endosulfan alpha, beta, and sulfate known as the most toxic substance among organochlorine pesticides by UV irradiation was studied at experimental conditions such as different pH aqueous solution and reaction time. The initial concentration of endosulfan alpha, beta, and sulfate in aqueous solution was 500 ppb, respectively. The experiment of photodegradation was conducted in a quartz reactor equipped with a low pressure mercury lamp (100 W, 240 nm). The samples were withdrawn from the photo reactor at intervals of 0, 10 min, 30 min, 1 hr, 2 hr, and 4 hr. Endosulfan sulfate was never hydrolyzed and photodegraded in wide range of pH. At pH 5 and reaction time (240 min), endosulfan alpha was photodegraded up to 67%. Both endosulfan alpha and beta were started to photodegrade at pH 6.5 with the lapse of time, resulting in approximately 99.9% and 87.2% of photodegradation efficiency, respectively. Furthermore, at pH 9, endosulfan alpha and beta was partially hydrolyzed and photodegraded to 99.5% at 120 min of reaction time. During the photolysis, any photo-products of endosulfan alpha, beta, and sulfate were not observed.

Chemical Dechlorination Process of PCBs in Industrial Transformer Oil: Approach to Practical Use (변압기 오일 내 PCBs의 화학적 탈염소공정: 실용적인 접근)

  • A practical and efficient disposal method for chemical dechlorination of PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) in transformer oil was evaluated. The transformer oil containing PCBs was treated by the PEG 600 (polyethylene glycol 600) and potassium hydroxide (KOH) along with different reaction temperatures(25, 50, 100 and $150^{\circ}C$) and times(30, 60, 240 and 480 min). The best disposal efficiency of PCBs in transformer oil was attained under the experimental conditions of PEG 600 (2.5 w/w%)/KOH (2.5 w/w%)/$150^{\circ}C$/4 hrs, showing completely removal of all PCBs containing 3-9 chlorines on two rings of biphenyl. In studying the reaction of PEG/KOH with PCBs, it confirmed that the process led to less chlorinated PCBs through a stepwise process with the successive elimination of chlorines.

  • A comnprehensive process which combines chemical with thermal treatment by controlled counterflow oxidation has been developed for disposal of PCBs in transformer oil. PCBs which not completely removed by chemical treatment, after being filtered with appropriate adsorbent during the oil circulations, was thermally treated. Destruction efficiencies of better than 99.99% was obtained, with no measurable formation of PCDDs (polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins) or PCDFs (polychlorinated dibenzofurans). The combination also permits high recovery of oil and inorganic supports from scrap power transformers. The process is environmentally benign, easy to use and less capital intensive than other available technologies.
