  • The purpose of this study was to identify association between total sleep time and suicidal ideation in adults with mental problems and without. The data were derived from the fifth Korea national health and nutrition examination survey and analyzed using the IBM SPSS Statistics version 21.0 software package considering complex samples analysis. The subjects were 6,199 adults. The rate of suicidal ideation was 13.7% (880 people). 13.3% (846 people) of the subjects had experienced depression and out of whom 43.1% (329 people) have had suicidal ideation. 2.7% (164 people) of the subject had received the mental health counseling, and out of whom 40.2% (63 people) have had suicidal ideation. Comparing to group having sleep over 6 hours of more, the group of short sleep had 1.33 times high risk of suicidal ideation among general adults, 1.92 times high risk of suicidal ideation among group who had experienced depression and, 7.10 times high risk of suicidal ideation among group who had received the mental health counseling. Therefore, these results indicate that general adults with short sleep time as well as adults with depression or mental health problems have to be managed to prevent suicide.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 12weeks complexed lower body muscle-strengthening exercise program on fall risk in elderly women. Twenty subjects volunteered to participate who use a welfare center in W city For the study we divided into two groups: exercise group (EC, n=10, mean age:$69.6{\pm}2.2$), comparative group(CG, n=10, mean age:$71.3{\pm}4.6$). In order to investigate the effect of lower body muscle-strengthening program on the degree of risk of fall. It reached a conclusion as follows after having applied BBS (Berg Balance Scale) and OLST (One-Leg Stance Test) to examine the degree of risk of fall. As a result of changes in BBS and OLST, there were significant differences between EG and CG for each test(p<.00). Therefore, it confirmed that the application of complexed lower body muscle-strengthening program to the elderly who have a high risk of fall influences the risk of fall positively.

  • Augmented reality game has differences with traditional games in the way what it includes physical risks happened in the real world. Although accidents related to Pokemon Go are increasing, academic discussions on the issues are rare. Thus, this study explores risk types caused by the augmented reality game and examined how perception of the risks affect usage intention on the game. This study also provides the research implications through comparative analysis between youth group who generally has the tendency toward game addiction and older group. According to the results, teenagers had less usage intention when perceived financial risk increase. In case of over twenty, time risk had negative relationship with usage intention. Physical risk had no significant effect on usage intention for teenagers, but positive relationship was observed in case over twenty. These results imply the necessity of an appropriate regulation for safe game play.

  • The purpose of this study is to elucidate the possible cause of falling owing to mechanical energy in elderly women as compared to young women when performing the sit-to-walk movement. Two groups participated in this study: 10 elderly women and 10 young women. We used a ProReflex MCU camera (Qualisis, Sweden) and ground reaction force to evaluate the mechanical work. The muscle power (W) showed the same low negative work in both groups in the extension phase of the knee and hip joints while varying the angular velocity and net muscle moment of force. Elderly women, in particular, showed lower negative work. In mechanical work (J), the knee and hip joints of both groups showed the same amount of negative work in the extension phase. In the hip joint, elderly women showed lower negative work results in each phase. These result showed the possible reasons of falling for elderly women according to the weakness of the thigh muscle of the hip joint during the sit-to-walk movement.

  • Volatility Index is the index that represents future volatility of underlying asset implied in option price and expected value of market that measures the possibility of stock price's change expected by investors. The Korea Exchange announces a volatility Index, VKOSPI, since April, 13, 2009. This paper used daily data from January, 2002 through December, 2008 and tested power of Volatility index for future returns of portfolios sorted by size, book-to-market equity and beta. As a result, VKOSPI has the predictive power to future returns and then VKOSPI may be determinants of returns. Also if beta is included when sorting portfolio, the predictive power of VKOSPI is stronger for future portfolio returns.

  • Traffic accidents are not only a threat to human lives but also pose significant societal costs. Recently, research has been conducted to address the issue of traffic accidents by predicting the risk using deep learning technology and spatiotemporal information of roads. However, while traffic accidents are influenced not only by the spatiotemporal information of roads but also by human factors, research on the latter has been relatively less active. This paper analyzes driver groups and characteristics by applying clustering techniques to a traffic accident dataset and proposes and applies a method to calculate the Risk Level for each driver group and characteristic. In this process, the preprocessing technique suggested in this paper demonstrates a higher Silhouette Score of 0.255 compared to the commonly used One-Hot Embedding & Min-Max Scaling techniques, indicating its suitability as a preprocessing method.

  • Bus, a major transportation mode, doesn't have a systematical evaluation system for dangerous driving behavior yet. This paper analyzes the characteristics and pattern of bus driving behavior using Digital Tacho Graph(DTG) data on express bus. 8 types of dangerous driving behavior were considered according to timeslot, the day of week and weather condition. As results, rapid acceleration, rapid left right turn and rapid deceleratio accounted for more than 97% and relatively high percentages were shown in dawn, on Friday and on the clear day, respectively. From the statistical analysis, correlation between the dangerous driving types and difference according the timeslot were found, and 3 groups considering the level of the dangerous driving were suggested. This study contributes to setting an efficient and reliable eduction system for using driving simulators.
