Analysis of Crash Potential by Vehicle Interactions Using Driving Simulations (주행 시뮬레이션을 이용한 차량간 상호작용에 따른 사고발생가능성 분석)

  • Intentional aggressive driving (IAD) is a very dangerous driving behavior that threatens to attack the adjacent vehicles. Most existing studies have focused on the independent driving characteristics of attack drivers. However, the identification of interactions between the offender and the victim is necessary for the traffic safety analysis. This study established multi-agent driving simulation environments to systematically analyze vehicle interactions in terms of traffic safety. Time-to-collision (TTC) was adopted to quantify vehicle interactions in terms of traffic safety. In addition, a exponential decay function was further applied to compare the overall pattern of change in crash potentials when IAD events occurred. The outcome of this study would be useful in developing policy-making activities to enhance traffic safety by reducing dangerous driving events including intentional aggressive driving.

Effects of Sensation Seeking and Driving Confidence Level on Reckless Driving Behavior in Motor Sports Club's Members (모터스포츠 참여 동호인(운전자들)의 감각추구성향과 운전확신수준이 위험운전행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of sensation seeking and driving confidence level on reckless driving behavior in motor sports club's members. Data was collected from 265participants of the Trackday, driving school. Subjects answered the questionnaire using convenient sampling method. Data which is obtained through self-administration was analyzed by using the frequency analysis and multiple regression. Results are as follows. First sensation seeking has influenced on reckless driving behavior such as, drunken driving and errors. Second, driving confidence level has influenced on reckless driving behavior such as, drunken driving, overspeed driving and errors.

Analysis of Motor Carrier Crash Risk with Driver Hours of Service (화물자동차 운전자의 운행시간에 따른 사고위험도 분석)

  • Management of driver hours of service (HOS) for commercial vehicle operators has been a continual safety challenge. One of the more critical issues to government and motor carriers is fatigue and fatigue-related accidents. To reduce truck drivers’fatigue-related accident risk in other countries, the government issued the HOS regulations. However, korea government does not have any HOS regulations. The objective of this research gives the clues that korea should have the HOS regulation to reduce truck drivers’fatigue-related accident risk. This study examines the HOS regulation over other countries and conducts relative accident risk analysis using the real data from 3 freight companies. The data set includes 231 accident involved drivers and 462 non-accident drivers. Therefore, the size of the total data set is 693 drivers. One of the most important aspects of early studies of safety and HOS was the need to characterize continuous driving by using the notion of "survival". Subsequent research used a data replication scheme and logistic regression to capture the survival effect. This study uses time-dependent logistic regression. The test of significance between parameters indicates that the first three hours are almost the same risk. In the 10th hour of driving, the risk was more than 2.2times that in the baseline first hour. In conclusion, as driving time goes on, the crash risk increases.

A Study on Measures to Reduce Traffic Accidents caused by Using Smartphones While Driving (운전 중 스마트폰 사용으로 인한 교통사고 저감대책 연구)

  • The purpose of the study focuses on increasing dangers of using smartphones while driving recently, and then is to come up with measures to reduce traffic accidents caused by using devices like a smartphone. This study conducted a survey of drivers using their smartphones while driving to understand risks caused by using a smartphones while operating vehicles. Results showed that a lot of activities may lead to distracted driving, such as texting, making phone calls, using GPS or road maps, game, etc. In this paper, we presented that functions of smartphone should be controlled partially while driving for safe driving performance. These results suggest that using IoT-based smart devices like a beacon and a smartphone application implemented, tentatively called "Safe driving solution", while driving can reduce traffic accidents. Thus, in order to effectively prevent dangerous driving due to the use of smartphones, a "Safe driving solution" which restricts all functions except for calls and driver assistance functions is suggested.

  • 최근 개발되고 있는 고속회전기계들은 무게 절감과 성능을 높이기 위해 그 크기가 소형화되고, 높은 회전수를 갖는 경향이 있으며, 이로 인하여 기계의 운전속도가 회전체의 1차 굽힘 위험속도(Critical Speed) 이상에서 운전하는 경우가 빈번히 발생되고 있다. 위험속도를 통과하는 고속회전기계 개발에 있어 가장 중요하게 고려되고 있는 회전체진동 문제는 정밀 제작 및 조립, 좋은 성능의 댐퍼 설계, 그리고 고속회전체 밸런싱 (High Speed Balancing) 작업등을 통하여 더 이상 회전기계 개발의 장애요인이 아닌 것으로 점차 인식되어 가고 있다.(중략)

A Study on Safety Improvement for Mobile Hydrogen Refueling Station by HAZOP Analysis (위험과 운전 분석을 통한 이동식 수소충전소 안전성 향상에 관한 연구)

  • In order to expand the supply of hydrogen vehicles, the first thing to be done is to build an infrastructure to supply hydrogen. There are fixed and mobile types of hydrogen refueling stations that can supply hydrogen. Mobile hydrogen refueling stations have the advantage of supplying hydrogen to two or three areas, so the introduction of mobile hydrogen refueling stations is considered at the initial stage of hydrogen vehicle dissemination. However, mobile hydrogen refueling stations have greater risks than fixed hydrogen refueling stations due to the hazard associated with movement and intensive installation of facilities in vehicle, so stricter design standards to lower the risk must be applied. Therefore, in this study, basic data for establishing safety standards for mobile hydrogen refueling stations were proposed by suggesting improvements such as the location of emergency shutoff valves, the number of gas detectors etc., using HAZOP analysis.

DCS-GRAPHIC 설계로 인한 원자력발전소 터빈운전원의 운전능력 향상

  • 발전소 기동 및 저출력 운전시 원자력발전소(PWR) 터빈운전원(T/O)들은 증기발생기 수위제어를 위해 배전반(MCR)에 증기발생기 수위제어 관련 경험이 있는 운전원 3명 이상이 좁은 보드앞에서 각자 S/G A, B, C의 주요 파라미터들을 감시하며 수동운전하게 된다. 이렇게 운전원들이 많은 위험부담을 안고 수동운전하는 이유는 증기발생기 수위제어는 증기발생기 내부의 광역수위 측정범위가 약 14.2(m)이고, 주요 제어변수를 측정하는 협역수위는 약 3.2(m)로 매우 적어서 물의 Swell, Shrink 현상과 급수온도의 영향으로 제어하기 매우 어렵기 때문이다. 그러나 DCS(Distributed Control System)내의 한 부분인 공정감시제어를 위한 MMI(Man Machine Interface) Software를 사용하면 한사람이 증기발생기 수위제어 전 계통의 감시 및 제어가 가능하게 된다. 또한 과거나 현재의 변화 추이 및 문제점 분석은 물론, 계통의 결함 발생시 경보가 발생하여 경보발생 화면을 선택할 경우 어느 부분에서 결함이 발생했는지를 보여준다. 만약 이 화면을 운전원이 아닌 현장 Engineer가 보았을 경우는 결함부분의 확인 및 결함카드 보수가 가능하여 운전원들의 작업부담 감소와 이로 인한 다른 계통 점검 시간을 충분히 확보할 수 있다.
