  • In geographic routing for wireless sensor networks, sources need the location of sinks destined for delivering their data packets. Most of the existing geographic routing protocols merely assume that the sources can get the locations of sinks by some location service. How source nodes find out the location of sinks is not easy. In this paper, we propose a sink location dissemination scheme in geographic routing for wireless sensor networks. In this scheme, a source node and a sink node send sink location announcement and query messages along two paths respectively by geographic routing. The node located on the crossing point of the two paths informs the source about the sink location. Then the source can send data packet to the sink by geographic routing. How to guarantee that these two paths have at least one crossing point in any irregular profile of sensor network is the challenge of this paper Simulation results show that our protocol is significantly superior to other protocols in terms of energy consumption and control overhead.

  • In wireless sensor networks, the multipath prefers energy efficient routing method due to the characteristic of low-power sensor which uses geographic method to transmit data packet through information of the neighbor nodes. However, when multipath meets the routing fail area called hole area, path overlap problem can occur, resulting in failed maintenance of disjoint multipath. To solve this problem, multipath research studies have been performed to exploit the modeling and detouring method in routing fail area by keeping the disjoint multipath. However, in an energy point of view, additional method like modeling can lead to a lot of energy consumption of sensor node. Moreover, lots of energy consumption of sensor node can shorten the life span of sensor network. In this study, we proposed an energy efficient geographic routing by keeping the disjoint multipath in routing fail area. The proposed scheme exploited the face routing using the geographic recovery method without additional method like modeling.

  • Recently, there have been active research efforts on devising efficient routing algorithms utilizing location information in ad-hoc mobile networks. In this paper, we propose a new method to improve the performance of the widely recognized Location Aided Routing (LAR) algorithm. To this end, we suggest the concept of accessible zone combined with the basic two schemes associated with LAR algorithm. Through the proposed algorithm, we can confine the flooding area within accessible zone, thereby reducing the routing delay.

  • An underlying assumption in geographic routing protocols, periodic position exchange among neighbors has two problems: (1) unnecessary energy consumptions of nodes in regions without data delivery and (2) position invalidation of neighbors in forwarding data. Hence, this paper proposes an on-demand geographic routing protocol in mobile wireless sensor networks. The proposed protocol make a sender acquire position information of only necessary neighbors to reduce energy consumption in data forwarding time and determine an optimal node among them as a receiver for relaying data to a destination by considering their mobility. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol is more efficient than an existing geographic routing protocol.

  • In this paper, we proposed the location-aware coordinate routing algorithm for improving the performance of routing algorithm by using ZigBee in Smart Grid environment. A distributed address allocation scheme used an existing algorithm that has wasted in address space. The x, y and z coordinate axes from divided address space of 16 bit to solve this problems. However, coordinate routing does not take account of wireless link condition. If wiress link condition is not considered, when the routing table is updated, the nodes with bad link conditions are updated in the routing table and can be chosen as the next hop. This brings out the retransmissions because of received packet's errors. Also, because of these retransmissions, additional power is consumed. In this paper, we propose the location-aware coordinate routing algorithm considering wiress link condition, where reliable data transmission is made and the consumed enegy is minimize. and we compared and connected region and transition region of ZigBee location based routing in the aspect of average number of multi hops, subordinate packet delivery ratio, delay time, and energy consumption of proposed algorithm. It turned out that there were improvements in performances of each items.

  • In order to realize Intelligent Transport System (ITS) without any road facilities support, Inter-vehicle Communication (IVC) is increased attention. IVC makes it possible to exchange real-time information among vehicles without centralized infrastructure. The IVC systems use multi-hop broadcast to disseminate information. In this paper, we propose the improved AODV routing protocol based on location information. The proposed AODV routing protocol transmits Hello packet with location information to calculate the distance between nodes. Then it achieves fast link recovery. We confirm the throughput performance of the proposed AODV routing protocol compared with the AODV routing protocol using Qualnet ver.3.8 simulator.

  • Wireless sensor network can increase independence and flexibility of network because it consists of mobile node without the aid of fixed infra, but, by unrestricted for the participation and breakaway of node, it has the difficulty in routing which is a basic function of network operation. To solve those problems, a suggestion is the location-based routing algorithm using geological or logical location information. The suggested algorithm which is based on cluster for location information of sensor is applicable to wireless sensor network of discrete situation, which guarantees extension and mobility. By efficiency analysis and reactive routing algorithm of current DSR and AODV, packet transmission ratio, routing overheads, and average communication expense is compared as node increases.

  • In this paper, we propose a basic virtual grid-based routing algorithm in order to devise an efficient routing method in ad hoc networks using the location information of nodes, energy level, etc. A packet is forwarded to the X-axis direction at first based on the location information of a destination node, and then it is forwarded to the Y-axis direction as its location becomes close to the destination from the viewpoint of the X-axis. Due to the selection of next hop nodes to deliver a packet from a certain node to a destination node, we can regard the whole network as a virtual grid network. The proposed routing algorithm determines routing paths using the local information such as the location information of a destination and its neighbor nodes. Thus, the routing path setup is achieved locally, by which we can expect reduction in network traffics and routing delays to a destination. To evaluate the performance of the proposed routing algorithm, we used the network simulator ns2 and compared its network throughput with that of an existing routing algorithm.
