이 코너는 데이터베이스 관련 표준화 활동중에서 ISO와 IEC의 합동기술위원회(JTC1), SC32 Data Management and Interchange(데이터 관리 및 교환)의 표준화 활동과 데이터베이스 단체표준을 제정하는 데이터베이스 표준총회의 활동을 중심으로 매월 소개하고자 한다. 이번호는 지난 7월 7일부터 11일까지 호주 브리스베인에서 열린 JTC1/SC32 총회의 회의 내용과 제3차 JTC1/SC32 전문위원회 회의 내용, 제6차 데이터베이스 표준화 전문위원회 회의 내용을 게재한다.

Library professionals should do their best themselves to develop libraries in the diversified society of 21st century. This study suggests library professionals' participation on library related committees and advocacy to develop libraries. If library professionals participating on library related committees bring understanding of other committee members to the importance of the role of libraries and librarians, this effort results the development of an individual library and the all libraries in Korea. This study examines how to develop libraries by the library professionals' participation on the committees of public and academic libraries and school committees and advocacy.

DAVIC 분과위원회는 DAVIC 표준활동에 대한 자료 및 정보의 신속한 전달과 초고속정보통신망에 대한 표준 적용 활동 등 국내외 수요에 대한 대응활동을 하고, 표준에 입각한 기술모델을 개발하고 국제회의에서의 국내업계 의견을 개진하여 초고속정보통신망 구축 및 멀티미디어 기술표준화에 대한 업계공동의 노력의 장을 마련하기 위하여 구성되었다.

본회 21대 임원단이 구성되어 본격적인 활동에 들어갔다. 3년동안 채란업을 책임질 채란위원회 위원장에 남기훈 청암농장 대표가 임명되었다. 본지는 위원장으로 처음 활동을 시작하는 남기훈 위원장을 지난 5월 10일 농식품부에서 개최된 '계란 수급동향 및 가격전망 관련 협의회'에서 만나 임명 소감과 함께 앞으로의 채란위원회 운영방안을 들어보았다.

태평양연안원자력협력위원회(PBNCC) PA분과(Public Acceptance Working Group)회의가 작년 11월 18일 미국 로스앤젤레스에서 열렸다. 이 분과 회의에서는 우리나라를 비롯 미국, 일본, 카나다의 대표가 참석하여 자국의 PA업무를 보고하였는데, 다음은 이 회의에서 발표된 내용을 중심으로 각국의 PA활동상황과 PA업무를 담당 수행하는 기관의 주요 활동내용을 기술하였다.

이번에는 수 년 전부터 '기적의 도서관'과 진중도서관' 운동에 앞장서 오다가 최근 제17대 국회의원으로 의정활동을 시작한 김재윤 의원을 만났다. 김의원은 국회 문화관광위원회 위원으로 최근 학교도서관진흥법안을 발의하고, 문화정책포럼에서도 활동하고 있다.

The study is to analyze the transition process and various activities of library advisory committees in Korea. In addition the study compared activities of Korean library advisory committees to them of other countries such as USA and UK. It is found that the library advisory committees in Korea has not filled its mission and function since established in 1989. The study suggests several activation plans and scheme for the new library advisory committee.
