DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting)란 CD수준의 음질과 데이터 또는 영상 서비스 등이 가능하고 우수한 고정 및 이동 수신 품질을 제공하는 디지털 방식의 멀티미디어 방송이다. DMB는 서비스 방식에 따라 위성DMB와 지상파DMB로 나누어지며, 영상 및 음성 서비스에 데이터 신호를 동기화 시켜 데이터 서비스 또한 가능하다. 지상파DMB 데이터 서비스중 EPG(Electronic Program Guide) 서비스는 시청자가 현재 시청 중인 채널의 프로그램 편성 정보를 사용자에게 정의한다. 그러나 DMB 사업자 간의 이해관계 등으로 인해 시청자가 타 채널 편성정보를 확인하기 위해선 채널을 변경(Tunning)해야 하는 불편함이 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 BWS(Broadcast Web Site) 표준과 리턴패스(Return Path)를 이용하여 지상파DMB의 EPG에서 확장된 개념인 XPG(eXtended Program Guide)를 제안하고 구현하였다. 이를 위해 2장에서 지상파 DMB의 각종 데이터서비스 표준 및 리턴패스(Return Path)를 분석하였으며, 3장에선 XPG 서비스를 제공하기 위한 XPG 서비스 시스템을 설계하고, 이를 위한 XPG 애플리케이션을 설계 및 구현하고 그 결과를 나타내었다.

본 논문에서는 현재 위성 DMB 국내 표준으로 채택되어 있는 System E 방식의 Dual Mode 신호 전송에 따른 신호변환시 Time Delay측정 방법에 대해서 제안을 하였다. 제안된 방식의 경우 아날로그 방식이 아닌 디지털 방식으로 정확한 Time Delay 측정이 가능하다. 그리고 위성 DMB Gap Filler System의 입 출력 단자를 통하여 측정이 가능함으로 측정값에 대한 신뢰성 확보가 가능하며 자동측정 방식임으로 측정시 발생될 수 있는 Human Error를 최소화 할 수 있다는 장점을 가지고 있다.

2003년 $6.9{\sim}7.4$ 기간동안 제네바에서 열렸던 세계전파통신회의에서는 5GHz대역 무선랜용 주파수 분배 위성DMB 주파수 이용 기준, 성층권통신시스템(HAPS)용 주파수 추가분배 등 총 50여개 의제를 다루었으며 우리나라의 입장이 크게 반영되는 분배 결과를 이루었다. 본 논문에서는 5GHz대역 무선랜 주파수 분배를 중점적으로 기술하며 위성DMB 및 성층권통신시스템, IMT-2000 이후 시스템 주파수 발굴에 대해 간단히 언급한다.

지상파DMB 서비스가 12월 1일을 기점으로 상용서비스를 제공한다. KBS MBC SBS YTN DMB 한국DMB KMMB등 국내 6개 지상파DMB 사업자들은 이를 위해 시설투자, 인력채용 및 서비스 명칭 확정 등 준비에 박차를 가하고 있는 상태. 그렇지만 이들 표정이 밝지만 않다. 망구축은 물론, 이동전화 사업자 참여(를 매개로 하는 휴대폰 겸용 단말기 유통), 수익모델 창출 등 넘어야 할 산이 한둘이 아니기 때문이다. 더욱이 경쟁서비스인 위성DMB가 서비스를 제공중인 상황에서 오히려 '무료 서비스' 라는 장점이 이들의 발목을 잡고 있기도 하다.

본 논문에서는 휴대용 무선통신기기에 장착해서 사용가능한 소형 위성 DMB 안테나를 설계하였다. 안테나 디자인은 QHA(Quadrifilar Helical Antenna)이며 소형화를 위해 안테나 패턴을 유전체위에 감고 각 패턴의 가운데가 분리된 형상을 하고 있다. 시뮬레이션 결과에 따라 안테나가 실제 제작 되고 측정되었다.

The T-DMB(Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) which was developed by the convergence of digital broadcasting technology and communication technology provides us with very good quality of music like CD, and provides TV services in a super express train like the KTX whose velocity is over 300 Km per hour. The T-DMB is diffusing toward the world as a technology which is be able to provide the various convergent services of broadcasting and communication through mobile phone, PDA, dedicated terminal, and so on. A business model needed for the diffusion of the T-DMB toward the world was established and utilized to expand the T-DMB into Vietnam in the paper. In addition, this paper describes not only some predicting methods for the technological valuation of the T-DMB Total Solution, but also a case study on the marketing related to establishing the T-DMB system in order to provide the paid services in Vietnam. Finally, A couple of business models needed to globally expand the T-DMB have been provided.

이달 11월 15일부터 부산에서 APEC 정상회의가 열린다. 정보통신부를 비롯한 국내 IT업계는 이번 행사에 방한하는 각국 정상들에게 국내 IT를 홍보하기 위해 IT전시회 및 체험 프로그램을 마련했다. 특히 국내 위성 DMB와 와이브로 기술을 집중적으로 홍보할 계획이다. 이를 통해 국가 브랜드 제고 및 산업경쟁력 향상의 기회로 활용한다는 계획이다.

In this paper, we analyzed performance of signal detection for terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (T-DMB) system in various channel environments that applied gaussian, Rayleigh and COST 207 environments that estimate response of real channel state. In order to detect the signal, a signal detection scheme based on energy detection is employed. We generated T-DMB signals so that estimate properly simulation result. For evaluating the signal detection performance, detection probability is derived. We consider two kinds of detection segment, which are three segments and five segments. And we compare the system performances in accordance with the detection segment. From simulation results, it is confirmed that the performance of signal detection is raised as increase the number of segments. The result of this paper can be applied to implement signal detection of broadcasting system.
