  • Due to GPS signal's vulnerability of jamming attack, various enhancement techniques are needed. Among variety of techniques, we focused on GPS receiver's anti-jamming techniques. There are many anti-jamming methods at GPS receivers which include filtering methods in time domain, frequency domain and space domain. However, these methods are ineffective to signals, which include both jamming and noise. To solve the problem, this paper proposes a jamming separation scheme by using a BSS method in a jamming environment. As separated GPS signals include noise after the jamming separation method, it is difficult to receive accurate GPS signals. For this reason, this paper also proposes a wavelet de-noising method to effectively eliminate noise. Experimental results of this paper are based on a real field test data of an integrated GPS/QZSS/Wi-Fi positioning system. At the end, the simulation result demonstrates its superiority by showing improved positioning accuracy.

  • Precise determination of satellite positions is necessary to improve positioning accuracy in GNSS. In this study, GLONASS orbits were predicted from broadcast ephemeris using the 4th-order Runge-Kutta numerical integration method and their accuracy dependence on the integration step and the integration time was analyzed. The 3D RMS (Root Mean Square) differences between the results from I-second integration step and 300-second integration step was about 3 cm, but the processing time was one hundred times less for the I-second integration time case. For trials of different integration times, the 3D RMS errors were 8.3 m, 187.3 m, and 661.5 m for 30-, 150-, and 300-minutes of integration time, respectively. Though this integration-time analysis, we concluded that the accuracy gets higher with a shorter integration time. Thus we suggest forward and backward integration methods to improve GLONASS positioning accuracy, and with this method we can achieve a 5-meter level of 3-D orbit accuracy.

  • Location-Based Service (LBS) is a service provided to the user based on the user's current geographic location. Since LBS provides a higher value-added service, LBS has been applied on various businesses, industries and even on personal lives. Positioning users is the essential technology in building an LBS system. Thanks to GPS (Global Positioning System), Positioning outdoor is successfully used in practice. However, there is not a general solution for indoor positioning yet, even though many strategies for indoor positioning have been introduced. One of the reasons for the lack of successful indoor positioning is that most of the existing indoor positioning strategies require special equipments dedicated for positioning. This paper introduces an indoor positioning strategy that does not require any additional equipments. Integrating our indoor positioning strategy with GPS-based outdoor positioning, we have implemented an indoor-outdoor positioning system. Experimental results of the system is also introduced.

  • The Global Positioning System(GPS) is a worldwide radio navigation system based on satellite technology. Signal availability and accuracy of GPS are subject to change due to an incomplete constellation and operational test activities. In order to analyze the signal availability and accuracy of GPS, we made an experiment on this system in Kunsan during April 6, 7, 9, 10, 1992. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. It was possible to avail the GPS system almost 24 hours per day, but sometimes it was impossible to obtain the GPS signal 2 or 3 times per day and its total time was at the most an hour. 2. By using satellite almanac, we also could calculate PDOP(HDOP) and forecast signal availability. And the mean positional error was $37.9{\sim}73.6m$ and standard deviation was $37.4{\sim}133.1m$. The positional error almost coincided with PDOP(HDOP). 3. The mean positional error of 3D was less than that of 2D. And the altitude error in 3D was about $56{\sim}74m$ and its standard deviation was about $65{\sim}93m$.

  • GNSS PWV (Precipitable Water Vapor) is recognized as an important factor for weather forecasts of typhoons and heavy rainfall. Domestic and foreign research have been published that improve weather forecasts using GNSS PWV as initial input data to NWP (Numerical Weather Prediction) model. For rainfall-related weather forecasts, PWV should be provided in real time or NRT (Near-Real Time) and the accuracy and integrity should be maintained. In this paper, the development process of NRT GNSS PWV system using PPP (Precise Point Positioning). To this end, we optimized the variables related to tropospheric delay estimation of PPP. For the analysis of the PPP NRT PWV system, we compared the PWV precision of RP (Relative Positioning) and PPP. As a result, the accuracy of PPP was lower than that of RP, but good results were obtained in the PWV data integrity. Future research is needed to improve the precision of PWV in the PPP method.

  • The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs is working on the construction of Nationwide DGPS(NDGPS) with connection to Maritime DGPS Reference Stations and if Chun-cheon Reference Station is to be completed in 2008, DGPS positioning information is available in the whole area of Republic of Korea. Therefore to promote the usage of DGPS surveying information, we measured and panalyzed the accuracy of DGPS. In real-time DGPS positioning accuracy were 0.42m of planar Root Mean Square(RMS) error in static survey and 0.48m of planar RMS error in dynamic survey. We went abreast with RTK comparison measurement. According to these results. DGPS positioning information cannot be applied directly to the GIS construction field, but GIS application fields, requiring the real-time positioning information. can take advantage of it in variable cases.

  • Many studies have been performed since the introduction of GPS in Korea. As a result, positioning using GNSS was fully proposed. On the other hand, most of these studies focused on accuracy but analytical studies on the GNSS status and the national GNSS infrastructure of Korea are lacking. In this study, the status of multi-constellation GNSS and National Geographic Information Institute's CORS (Continuous Operating Reference Station) were identified for the benefit and direction of GNSS infrastructure enhancement. As a result, it has been operating Multi-constellation GNSS, such as GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, COMPASS, and QZSS for surveying. In addition, improvement was presented by the number of satellites, precision, PDOP, etc. through the experiment about VRS and RTK using Multi-constellation GNSS. Upgrading the infrastructure for satellite surveying was identified as a priority consideration. In the future, if a Multi-constellation GNSS service is possible in VRS service, the satisfaction of public administration service will improve, which will contribute greatly to the advancement of a surveying infrastructure.

  • The Spatial information research institute of the LX Korea land and geospatial informatix corporation manages infrastructure for the LX global navigation satellite system (GNSS), which comprises 30 monitoring stations nationwide. Since 2014, it has conducted network real-time kinematic (RTK) tests using the master-auxiliary concept (MAC). This study introduces the infrastructure of LX GNSS and presents the results of a performance analysis of the LX RTK service. The analysis was based on a total of 25 cadastral topographic control points in Jeonju, Seoul, and Incheon. For each point, performance was measured over one observation, two repeated observations, and five repeated observations. The measurements obtained from LX MAC and the VRS of the National Geographic Information Institute were compared with the announced coordinates derived from cadastral topographic control points. As a result, the two systems were found to have similar performance with average error and standard deviation differing only by 1 to 2 cm.

  • The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) like US Global Positioning System (GPS) and EU Galileo are based on providing precise time and frequency synchronized ranging signals. Because of the exploitation of very precise timing signals these GNSS are used to provide both navigation and time distribution services. Moreover, because the positioning accuracy will improve as more satellites become available, we should expect that a combination of Galileo and GPS will provide better performance than those of both systems separately. However, Galileo will not use the same time reference as GPS and thus, a time difference arises - the GPS-Galileo Time Offset (GGTO). The navigation solution calculated by receivers using signals from both navigation systems will consequently contain a supplementary error if the GGTO is not accounted for. In this paper, we compared GPS Time (GPST) with Galileo Sytem Time (GST) and analyzed the effects of GGTO on positioning accuracy by simulation test. And then we also analyzed the characteristics of two representative GGTO correction methods such as the navigation message based method at system level and the estimation method at user level and propose the conceptual design of the novel correction method being capable of preventing previous method's problems.
