  • In this paper, we analyze the multipath fading and the inter-satellite interference considering the satellite mobility in the LEO mobile satellite communication networks and evaluate the link perfodrmance for various wave propagation environments and reliabilities of communiation system. Multipath fading is estimated by analyzing the variation of fading margin for the satellite motion in rural, urban and suburban environments. The inter-satellite interferences are classified into 8 bypes with respect to interference path. The interferences evaluated in the paper are as follows:intra-LEO satellite interference, inter-LEO satellite interference, and GEO satellite to LEO satellite interference. As a conclusion, this apaper analyzes the change of elevation anagle and propagation distance with respect to time in the LEO satellite netwoek and prosents the variation of link margin continuously.

  • In this paper, the design of the RF system monitoring and control system of KUS (KASS: KASS Uplink Station) which constitutes KASS (Korea Augmentation Satellite System) is described. The Korean satellite calibration system is named KASS and aims to develop the SBAS system of the APV-1 level SoL service level and the CAT-1 test operation technology. Software and hardware development environment, function and algorithm of supervisory control device, structure of supervisory control device, and user interface were designed to implement KUS / RFS monitoring control device. We have secured the stability and reliability of the system by using the monitoring and control system design of the COMS (Communication Ocean & Meteorological Satellite) and the Korea Satellite 5A / 7 control system, which has already been used for the design of the surveillance control system. In addition, we have made it possible to provide the user interface according to the actual operator's request more conveniently.

  • A K-SBAS (Korean Satellite Based Augmentation System) is proposed as one of the space infrastructure. The proposed system considers the existed elements to the utmost for the most economical SBAS construction. As reference system the current DGPS (differential global positioning system) network is investigated. Space segment is investigated based on the COMS-1 (Communications, Oceanographic, and Meteorological Satellite-1). While bus system of COMS-1 can be kept to minimum change, the communication payload of needed, crucial parts such as software, man power can be easily secured through the DGPS network operation heritage.

  • The Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite(COMS) data processing system(CMDPS) has developed to support the meteorological observation and weather prediction by NMSC(National Meteorological Satellite Center) and it is generating the 16 kind of meteorological data(Level 2 product). Unfortunately, currently CMDPS has some problems in terms of the system maintenance and the integrated software efficiency, and the extension to support the next generation meteorological satellite data processing. To solve this problems, in this paper, we suggest the extensible component-based system architecture for COMS meteorological data processing with consideration of identified issues. Proposed system is adapted the component-based frameworks with extensible architecture. We expects that this system will be provide easy ways to develop new satellite data processing algorithms and to maintain the system.

  • The necessary of research is proposed about sharing between networks of the fixed-satellite service using non-geostationary satellites and other networks of the fixed-satellite service, interference criteria and calculation methods for the fixed-satellite service because WRC-2000 make a decision that the frequency bands l1/14GHz and 20/30GHz are available to system in the fixed-satellite service employing satellite in both geostationary and non-geostationary orbits. In the paper, four methodologies attempting to derive continuous curves of korea satellite network EPFD(equivalent power flux density) are used.

  • The land mobile antenna for two-way communication using geostationary satellite consists of a transmitting and receiving systems. The transmitting system plays the role of sending the signal to the satellite while the receiving system does the role of receiving signal from the satellite and tacking the target satellite. Especially, the land mobile antenna for satellite communication must be met with the international regulation such as antenna pattern, transmitting power and tracking error to protect the damage of the neighbor satellites. On the other hand, this paper thoroughly examined a receiving system to satisfy a stable satellite tracking performance and antenna pattern specified by the international regulation for Ku-band geostationary satellite.

  • Unlike geostationary satellite communication systems, low-earth orbit(LEO) satellite communication systems move at relatively high speeds, and the angle with the ground device is not fixed and varies over a wide range. The propagation channel condition between satellites and ground nodes cannot be assumed line of sight(LOS) anymore. This paper analyzes the low-orbit multi-path fading satellite channel model that can occur in LEO satellite communication systems and Doppler frequency transition caused by high-speed maneuvering of LEO satellites and presents effective equalization techniques for OFDM and SC-FDE transmission methods suitable for multi-path frequency selective fading satellite channel models. In addition, this paper compares and analyzes the performance of OFDM and SC-FDE transmission methods in multipath fading LEO satellite channel environment using the proposed equalization techniques through simulations. Simulation results showed that SC-FDE outpeformed OFDM.

  • The interests of HEO is growing due to the congestion of GSO. ITU-R is studying about the pfd for HEO FSS in the 4GHz and 11GHz bands that will adequately protect the FS and, at the same time, will better reflect HEO FSS satellite requirements. We simulated and analysed the interference effects from the USAKU-H2 type of HEO FSS system into the FS receive station in these bands. Based on our analysis, we evaluated if the pfd masks proposed in ITU-R provided the appropriate protection to the FS located at near latitude 40$^{\circ}$N.
