Correlativity between phenomenon of atmospheric refraction on sun interference and antenna elevation angles of satellite earth stations (태양 잡음 굴절 현상과 위성지구국 안테나 앙각과의 상관관계)

  • The earth station antenna operating on a GEO communication satellite is influenced by sun interference in the period of the spring or the autumn eqinox. Such phenomena are also undertaken by ray-bending phenomena in atmosphere. Therefore the prediction time of sun interference does not theoretically match actual interference time. In this paper, the actual sun interference time has been analyzed in consideration of ray-bending phenomenon, the size of main reflector of earth station antenna and elevation angle between an earth station antenna and a satellite. Ray-bending phenomenon in atmosphere is proved to be disregarded if the Mugungwha satellite is luanched in 1995. The analysis results are compared with actual measurement values of sun interference time at local earth stations and the two data are in accord well.

다목적실용위성 2호의 각 유닛과 Harness 간의 EMC 해석

  • 인공위성의 전기적 호환성 해석은 인공위성의 각 유닛들에서 발생할 수 있는 잡음이 인공위성의 정상 동작에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 그 영향을 최소로 만들 수 있는 방안을 연구하기 위해 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 인공위성의 탑제컴퓨터와 탑제체 간의 인터페이스에서 전기 신호의 호환성 해석, Harness의 호환성 해석 그리고 radiation 해석이 이루어졌다. 인공위성의 탑제컴퓨터와 탑제체 간의 인터페이스에서 전기 신호의 호환성 해석은 전기 신호의 전압 레벨이 전압 히스테리시스의 경계 영역에서 충분한 여유를 가지고 있는지 판단하기 위해 필요하다. 전기 신호에 충분한 여유분이 없는 경우 여유분을 증가시키기 위한 방법이 제안되었으며 제안된 방법에 의해 인터페이스의 올바른 동작에 충분한 여유분이 생겼음이 시뮬레이션 결과에 나타났다. Harness의 호환성 해석은 다목적실용위성 2호에 사용된 Harness에 대한 conductive epoxy potting의 전도도를 검증하기 위해 이루어졌다. 본 논문에서는 전송 임피던스 측정 방법을 이용하여 epoxy potting의 전도성이 모든 주파수 영역에서 인공위성의 요구사항에 만족함을 보여준다. Radiation 해석은 인공위성 시스템의 radiated emission(RE)을 추정하고 S-band 수신기와 GPS 안테나와 같은 수신단에 대한 상호간섭에 의한 위험도를 분석하기 위해 필요하다. RF 수신기의 수신 대역에서 발생한 잡음의 영향으로 신호대잡음비가 허용수치이하로 감소하여 위성 명령을 수신하는 동작에 지장을 초래할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 RF 수신단에 가장 큰 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상되는 star tracker의 RE test 결과를 분석하여 test 결과가 GPS 수신기와 S-band 수신기의 각각의 성능에 적합한지 해석하였다. 또한 solar array regulator의 스윗칭에 의해 발생되는 radiation이 위성 구조체에 미치는 영향을 해석하고 시뮬레이션 하였다.

Performance analysis of the satellite range measurement using tone method in the presence of noise (Tone 방식을 사용한 위성 거리 측정 방법에 대한 잡음의 영향)

  • Toen 방식을 사용하는 거리 측정시스템의 잡음 및 간섭에 대한 열화 도를 분석한다. 위성 링크상의 잡음 및 다중 변조 방식에 의한 전송 신호간 간섭들로 인하여 위상차 측정에 열호가 발생하며, 열화 도는 ranging 측정 시스템의 잡음 대역폭에 의존한다. Ranging 측정 모드에서는 잡음 대역폭 8Hz, 4Hz 그리고 1Hz에 대하여 0.3dB 열화가 방샐하였으며, ranging 및 원격 측정 데이터 전송 모드에서는 대역폭에 따라 6.4dB, 4.2dB, 4dB가 발생하였다.

  • Phase noise spectrum distributions of signal generators for next-generation VSAT satellite system based on DVB-RCS2 were analyzed in this paper. The forward link of VSAT system utilizes the APSK higher-order modulation methods based on the DVB-S2 ACM, the modulation methods of the return link utilizes the higher-order PSK and QAM based on the DVB-RCS2. In digital satellite system using the higher-order modulation techniques, the phase noise have an effect on transmission performance, the transmission performance is dominantly degraded by the phase noise of signal generators in the transmission system. The phase noise spectrum distribution of signal generators are analyzed by considering the ACM conditions that adopts the modulation techniques and data rates due to satellite transmission environment. The proper phase noise spectrum distribution for next-generation VSAT system based on DVB-RCS2 are proposed from the analyzed phase noise spectrum characteristics.

  • 본 논문에서는 위성통신 환경에서 DS/CDMA DPSK 시스템의 성능을 분석한다. 성능분석의 척도로 비트오류확률을 사용한다. 위성전송로는 쉐도잉이 있는 라이시안 페이딩 전송로로 모델링한다. 수치계산의 결과, 위상잡음이 존재할 때 비트오율 성능이 저하되므로 시스템 용랑이 감소될 것이 예상된다. 또한 위성전송로에서는 쉐도잉이 시스템 전체 성능에 커다란 영향을 미침을 알 수 있다. 본 논문에서의 분석은 DS/CDMA 기반의 위성통신 시스템 설계에 적용할 수 있다.

  • The phase error generated in the transmission system affects the performance of digital transmission signal. The phase error are generated by random phase noise and tracking phase error due to denier phenomenon. In the mobile satellite communication system that generates the doppler frequency, which is a system with a movement, the proper system phase noise spectrum should be designed based on analyses for phase noise and static phase error effects. Based on the analyses of the doppler frequency and the phase error for bilateral satellite communication system providing an asynchronous service, the phase noise spectrums for the mobile satellite communication are designed in this paper. Also, the available transmission services under the less doppler effect are proposed and the proper signal source units for a required transmission system can be designed under the proposed system phase noise spectrum.

  • The paper identifies noise characteristics of a nonliner image sensor model which reflects a saturation effect of each detector pixel and extends the result to estimate an image SNR (Signla-to-Noise Ratio) distribution over all the pixels in a detector. In particular, nonlinearity of a pixel is studied from two perspectives of including asymmetry of a noise PDF (Probability Distribution Function) and enhancing a pixel SNR value, in comparison to a linear model. It is noted that the proposed image SNR distribution function is useful to effectively select new optimal operation parameter values: an integration time and an pixel-summing number, even after a launch campaign, assuming sensor gain degradation in orbit or inevitable modification of some operation parameter values due to space contingency.

  • In this paper, wideband Ku-band downconverter was designed to receiver digital satellite broadcasting. The low-nose downconverter was designed to form four local oscillator frequencies(9.75, 10, 10.75 and 11.3 GHz) representing a low phase noise due to VCO-PLL with respect to input signals of 10.7 to 12.75 GHz and 3-stage low noise amplifier circuit by broadband noise matching, and to select intermediate frequency bands by digital control. The developed low-noise downconverter exhibited the full conversion gain of 64 dB, and the noise figure of low-noise amplifier was 0.7 dB, the P1dB of output signal 15 dBm, and the phase noise -85 dBc@10kHz at the band 1 carrier frequency of 9.75 GHz. The low noise block downconverter(LNB) for wideband digital satellite broadcasting designed in this paper can be used for global satellite broadcasting LNB.

PERFORMANCE & AMBIGUITY OF RANGE MEASUREMENT FOR COMS (통신해양기상위성의 위성 거리 측정 모호성 및 성능 분석)

  • The ambiguity and performance of range measurement for COMS using tone standard was analyzed with assuming that satellite is operating at transfer-station and on-station. From the results of analysis, it was shown that the ambiguity was reduced when low frequency ratio between tone signals and large number of minor tones are applied. It was also found that using the narrow noise bandwidth leads to decrease the ambiguity. As a result, required performance of range measurement for COMS can be satisfied when the noise bandwidth is set as 2Hz for transfer-station and 1Hz for on-station, respectively.

Variable Length Pseudo Noise (PN) Ranging System for Satellite Multiple Missions (위성 다중임무 수행을 위한 가변길이 의사 잡음 레인징 시스템)

  • In satellite operations and space exploration missions, a ranging is one of the most essential technologies to get its navigational information of space probes. Recently, the importance of cross-support between space agencies is increasing for more fine performance of space mission. For cross-support, mutually compatible ranging system between space agencies is recommended. For these reasons, the consultative committee for space data systems (CCSDS) recommends pseudo noise (PN) ranging as a digital standard ranging system. The length of PN sequence in CCSDS standard is proper for deep space missions, however, it is too long to use for ranging in near earth missions. In this paper, we propose Variable Length PN sequence schemes suitable for ranging of near earth satellites, such as low-earth orbit (LEO), medium-earth orbit (MEO) and Geostationary orbit (GEO). Therefore we propose variable length PN sequence ranging system including CCSDS standard for multiple missions.
