  • In this paper, a double gimbal is used for roll/yaw attitude control of spacecraft and two feedback controllers are designed. One is a PD controller of no phase difference between roll and yaw control input. The other is a PD controller with a phase lag compensator about the yaw control input. The phase lag compensator is designed a first order system and a lag parameter is designed for the control of yaw angle. There are two case simulations for each of controllers; constant disturbance torques and initial errors of nutation. We obtain the results through simulations that a steady-state error and a rising time of yaw angle are developed by the compensator. In this paper, simulation parameters use the values of KOREASAT 1.

  • In this paper a wideband active balun using advanced phase correction architecture is proposed. The proposed active balun is constructed with each different architecture of active balun combined with the cascode architecture to improve phase correction performance compared with conventional phase correction techniques. Operating over 0.6~2.0 GHz band, the proposed balun shows $10^{\circ}$ of phase error and 2 dB of gain error with 7 mW power consumption from 1.8 V supply voltage.

  • Recently, studies of 3D HDTV broadcasting technology have been processed actively. Korea is making efforts to modify Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 8-Vestigial Side Band (8-VSB) systems for terrestrial 3D HDTV broadcasting services. We intend to adopt a new frame structure to use PN (Pseudo-Noise) sequence as frame header, and VSB modulation. PN sequence is used to recover carrier freqeuncy offset, carrier phase error. In this paper, we will describe this system as the modified ATSC systems. The receiver of the modified ATSC system should be able to estimate and recover carrier frequency offset exactly. A existing ATSC systems inserts pilot to recover carrier frequency offset, on the other hand the modified ATSC systems use PN sequence to recovery carrier frequency offset without the use of pilot. In this paper, we introduce carrier frequency recovery (CFR) scheme for the modified ATSC systems. The proposed CFR scheme is composed of coarse CFR scheme using Fitz algorithm and fine CFR scheme using a simple PN sequence correlation algorithm. And, the symbol information of QAM modulated signal is contained in both In-phase (I)channel and Quadrature-phase (Q)channel. However the symbol information of VSB modulated signal is contained in I channel, and Q channel is just Hilbert transform of I channel. For the reason, VSB modulated symbols can not have fixed phase like QAM modulated symbols, and VSB modulated symbols is more sensitive to carrier frequency offset. Therefore we perform phase correction of received PN sequence to improve performance.

  • 2-6 GHz digital phase shifter module has been designed and fabricated. For the broadband operation and performance, MMIC phase shifter chip for phase shifter module was designed and fabricated by using the reflection-type circuits with Lange coupler. The fabricated phase shifter module shows 6.1$^{\circ}$RMS phase error, 13.5 dB maximum insertion loss, and 8 dB and 10 dB input and output return losses, respectively. Computer controlled measurement systems are realized in order to get the measured data of 32 phase states. The RMS insertion phase error and the average insertion loss deviation among 8${\times}$8 modules for the phased-array system are less than ${\pm}$0.5$^{\circ}$and ${\pm}$0.5 dB, respectively. The size of fabricated phase shifter module is 45 ${\times}$ 22.5 ${\times}$60㎣.

  • In this paper, an analysis on I/Q mismatch characteristics of a quadrature LC VCO(Voltage controlled oscillator) is presented. Based on this analysis, a new I/Q mismatch compensator is proposed. The proposed I/Q mismatch compensator utilizes an amplitude mismatch detector rather than the conventional phase mismatch detector requiring much more wide frequency bandwidth. To verify the proposed circuit, a 2.5GHz quadrature LC VCO was designed in a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process and tested. Test results show that an amplitude mismatch detector achieves similar I/Q mismatch compensation performance as that of the conventional phase mismatch detector. The I/Q mismatch compensator consumes 0.4mA from 1.8V supply voltage and occupies $0.04mm^2$.

  • In order to eliminate the phase errors caused by the finite GB product of operational amplifiers, novel integnator circuits are proposed. These circuits are characterized by their positive phase error angles and integrator selectivity. The positive sign of the Q and of the circuits compensates the negative selectivity and phase error angles, inherent in the integrated operational amplifiers. Miller inverting intergrator of a biquad circuit realized by Thomas is replaced by the proposed circuit and the band-pass frequency response of the modified biquad network is experimentally analyzed. A considerable improvement is recognized to such extent that the center frequency of the band-pass filter is allowed to be shifted up to 20KHz, which has been infeasible with conventional biquad networks.

  • We propose a design method of a Rotman lens for curved array antenna applicable to conformal array. In this paper, design equations are derived to obtain an array curve, transmission line lengths of a Rotman lens in conjunction with a curved array antenna, and the phase error of a Rotman lens based on these design equations is minimized through the beam curve optimization procedure and the refocusing procedure. Rotman lenses designed by the proposed design equations and design procedures still maintain 3 focal points, can feed a convex or concave array antenna with circular curve, parabolic curve, V-shaped curve, etc as well as a straight line array antenna, and have minimal phase error.

  • In the existence of motion, azimuth phase error due to accuracy limitation of GPS/IMU and system delay is unavoidable and it is essential to apply autofocus to estimate and compensate the azimuth phase error. In this paper, autofocus algorithm using MWLS(Modified WLS) is proposed. It shows the robust performance compared with original WLS using new target selection/sorting metric and iterative azimuth phase estimation technique. SAR raw data obtained in a captive flight test is used to validate the performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose a frequency synchronization algorithm using characteristic of CAZAC sequence for HDR-WPAN and analyze the performance by signal constellation and EVM(error vector magnitude). The proposed frequency offset technique estimated each sample phase error of two sequences among 12 CAZAC sequences which have excellent autocorrelated characteristic. Estimated phase error is multiplied to each sample of next sequence for compensating the frequency offset. The remaining frequency offset after compensating it with two sequences has maximum 0.002 offsest ranges at each sample. The computer simulation proved that the permission of EVM value had satisfied in the case of DQPSK at 20[dB].
